Bro you are the GOAT, that smoothing was it. I bet lots of people like me set it to 100% when we were trying to change opacity or flow to 100%? I'm sure that's what I did.
Thanks for the fix! My wife thought it was the PC not powerful enough, but it was impossible with a Ryzen 5800x CPU and 64GB of RAM! I found your video and in 2 min I fixed the problem.
I unistalled my wacom drivers and reinstalled them several times, than I changed performance in photoshop, than I tried to understand if there were some strange option in MacOS...Smoothing, only the stupid smoothing 😱 Many thanks man, you solved a life problem!
Holy shit, thank you. I don't know when I accidentally set the smoothness value to 80% and I never even used that feature before. This saved me for sure.
Hi there. What about sturttering? If I want to draw a line, my brush makes a ball after every so often. I try to make a smooth line but it becomes a pearl necklace kind of thing. Any help with that?
Also: update your driver. (I forget this all the time) Frustrating though, that a simple program like Krita (freeware) runs super smooth with elaborate brushes, where the exact same functions in photshop might feel very heavy.
Is there any way to make the paint roller look with the brush? I see a lot of designs on shirts that have multiple roller lines parallel to each other with different colors and then with some silhouette overlay.
I've addressed all the potential causes and it still lags. I'm working on a black and white graphic novel, I'm using grayscale, A2 size, 300dpi, 8bit depth, and it still lags. My only explanation is the 11-year-old Macbook Pro that I work on. I have to not be poor and unemployed, and get a new computer.
srsly 10%smoothing still made the painting kinda feel a bit disconnected and anoyed me for years already xD so thanks ! always thought 10% wouldnt matter ._.
It's working better but it is still annoying. I thought it was a windows 11/ wacom issue but when I use Clip Studio Paint my pen works perfectly. It seems it's also a Windows Ink/Photoshop issue. This just started happening. The only thing I did was move. Before the move....no issue. After I set everything back up and started working on PS I started having this issue. I'm working with a 8 core processor, amd radeon rx 6800 xt 16 gig Video Card , and 64 gigs of corsair vengeance DDR4 Ram. This is annoying as F.
Once and a while I won't be paying attention and increase smoothing instead of flow which is really annoying, especially if you don't know you did it and buy a new $500 GPU to solve the issue! Luckily I never did that though. 🤔 Cheers.

YOU SOLVED MY PROBLEM IN LESS THAN 50 SECONDS!!!!!!! I CANNOT EXPRESS HOW MUCH I APPRECIATE IT!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!
My thoughts exactly. So simple, I have no idea why I didn’t think of this
Hi Brendan - thanks for the tips. Never noticed the "smoothness" was set at 100%. Lag now not an issue. Keep the tips coming. Cheers.
An easy fix to miss!
None of this worked. Its the smoothing that causes lag. Just lower the smoothing.
Worked like a charm, I followed all the instructions and that fixed my problem (smoothing and setting wise)
Thanks for the fix!
My wife thought it was the PC not powerful enough, but it was impossible with a Ryzen 5800x CPU and 64GB of RAM!
