Thanks for the video very helpful. I’m working on a 63C 10 pick up and I’ve got a new sending unit that I was testing before installing in the new fuel tank. I was trying to make sure that my cluster fuel gauge was still working properly.
Do you have a method to test my fuel gauge ?
The gauge has continuity, but I don’t know how to test to see if it works
    thank you

thanks, i was wondering why it had 3 contacts, but my sensor has also three one reduces the OHM and the other one is increasing the OHM in the opposite direction.. weird. old mopped.

Have a 94 ranger & I have never installed a gauge 🤦🏻‍♂️ for being a mechanic for 15 yrs shows I yet have a lot to learn still it’s been 2 days trying to understand how to install it

Hopefully this video helped out! If not we've got full videos showing installation of the gauges and fuel systems too.

Appears I only have one wire from the fuel tank. Any ideas?

What if you have duel fuel tanks and want the guage to respond as you switch from main to auxiliary?

Best bet would be to add a second fuel gauge for the additional tank. I'm sure you could add in an on/off switch for the sending wire from each tank, but I've never tried it. I'd be nervous that it could lose some accuracy by adding in that interruption. Not sure though 100%. I have only ever added a second gauge for an additional tank.

Heck yeah this helps. My tank has 3 wires?

Then, one may be your fuel pump hot wire

if your tank has three wires then it is possible like my one, one increasing the ohm and the other decreasing, you only need 2 cables if you switch to an after-market gauge, just see which one says full when is empty and empty when it is full, and toss it away and use the other one..

Often you'll have a pink sending wire, black ground wire, and green wire that grounds the tank to the rail or fill spout to prevent spark issues.

Continuity each wire to bare metal on tank and you found ground

@@s1v3bid there is just one problem with your suggestion my tank and sending unit in tank is all plastic so how would I know which wire is which now thanks

@@jeffreycole4484you can probably hook up multimeter measuring ohms and put one lead on random piece of metal and the other on one terminal. When you actuate the sending unit you should see resistance changing. If it doesnt work try the other terminal. Don’t know if it will work but it sounds plausible enough.

From the factory I've only ever seen pink wire used as sending wire, however I haven't found a good source for 2 in 1 pink/black for fuel systems so I often run red as my fuel sending wire and label it under the dash with a piece of tape.

The blue moving border is distracting and annoying
