Replacing Carpet with Vinyl
This 2016 South Bay Pontoon Boat is in great shape and the owners love everything about it...except for the carpet! We take it down to the bare aluminum and rebuild it with new marine grade treated plywood and Tan Teak Woven Vinyl from Pontoon Stuff. Once put back together, this boat looks like it should have had this flooring from the factory.

Deck Trim Tips
มุมมอง 172ปีที่แล้ว
It's common to reuse the deck trim off of your boat when restoring it or installing new flooring. This "F-Channel" type of deck trim has been used on a number of boats from different manufacturers and over a wide span of years meaning there's a good chance you might come across it on your pontoon project. Follow these steps for re-installing it after your new deck and vinyl is on. Purchase our ...
Improvements for Trailering Pontoons
มุมมอง 128ปีที่แล้ว
This quick improvement to your pontoon boat will make the structure last longer and be safer for trailering. I do not recommend using this system to winch your boat onto the trailer, but it's a great option to fasten once the boat is positioned on the trailer. Self Tapping Screws Vs Deck Bolts
มุมมอง 681ปีที่แล้ว
Deck bolts work best where two boards meet on a crossmember and prevent the seam from being felt over time. Self-tapping screws work great for securing crossmembers off of seams. @tomspontoons Purchase our DeckMate line of pontoon furniture and boat seats here: www.pontoonstuff.com www.boatingseats.com www.bassboatseats.com www.deckmate.com

Maintenance Tip: Battery Connections
มุมมอง 124ปีที่แล้ว
Clean your battery cables each season to prevent power loss problems caused by corroded connections. Sometimes a loss of voltage from the battery to the dash or motor, or even a motor not starting can be as simple as corrosion on the wire connections or loose hardware on the battery post. Keep your connections clean and your battery hardware snug to save yourself from trouble on the water. @tom...

New Vinyl Flooring for Sweetwater Pontoon
Nah nah nah. Ign goes to ign so it’s only powered key on. The light go to nav anchor switch so it’s backlit when nav/anchor is on
Hi Guys, is there a need to countersink for the self-tappers as well?
Appears I only have one wire from the fuel tank. Any ideas?
How much does it cost to do something like this?
We purchased this ladder and have round pontoons. We are somewhat hesitant to install it for fear that dents may form on the round pontoons when a heavy person climbs the ladder? Is there anyway to prevent this? Is there much force against the pontoon itself? The under the boat slide out ladder will not work due to our pontoon trailer.
Hey Tom what do you think about jc's? Have you seen many of them up your way?
Thanks for the video very helpful. I’m working on a 63C 10 pick up and I’ve got a new sending unit that I was testing before installing in the new fuel tank. I was trying to make sure that my cluster fuel gauge was still working properly. Do you have a method to test my fuel gauge ? The gauge has continuity, but I don’t know how to test to see if it works thank you
some ugly tatts
thanks
Have a 94 ranger & I have never installed a gauge 🤦🏻♂️ for being a mechanic for 15 yrs shows I yet have a lot to learn still it’s been 2 days trying to understand how to install it
Hopefully this video helped out! If not we've got full videos showing installation of the gauges and fuel systems too.
Perfect, like how you combined both the arm rest and seat base. Cheers Tom and thanks.
Thanks for great information! How do you change the bulbs on these nav lights?
Thank you Thank you! I was wondering how I was going to install this seat!
Tom! I love your videos. Please lose the distracting and unnecessary music. I've not made many videos, but I would assume that adding music is just as much a PITA as it is for your viewers to have to watch the video five times to catch your voice-over. Save yourself (and us) some hassle and let us hear your lovely voice instructing us as we watch. Thanks.
I got a oem fuel tank for our txt golf cart but both wires coming off of sending unit or fuel tank have the same color both are gray how would I know which is + and which is - thanks
Continuity each wire to bare metal on tank and you found ground
@@s1v3bid there is just one problem with your suggestion my tank and sending unit in tank is all plastic so how would I know which wire is which now thanks
@@jeffreycole4484you can probably hook up multimeter measuring ohms and put one lead on random piece of metal and the other on one terminal. When you actuate the sending unit you should see resistance changing. If it doesnt work try the other terminal. Don’t know if it will work but it sounds plausible enough.
Damn its been a month since you first posted😂 hope this helps you
Is there a way to connect two of those together? I want to install one in my pontoon so I can control one in the helm while driving and another near the door so it can be controlled while on a float without climbing back onto the boat
Merci beaucoup ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you!!!
Hey Tom, with all the Pontoons you do.. What's your Go To for cleaning/restoring the Toons themselves? Acid wash? I've used many, but don't really want the whitening effect.. just today, I tried Miiror X, which is a Polish safe Acid formula.. Worked ok,, but nothing fast or special. Then I went and busted out the orbital polisher after all with some white diamond polish..
thanks, i was wondering why it had 3 contacts, but my sensor has also three one reduces the OHM and the other one is increasing the OHM in the opposite direction.. weird. old mopped.
is that the ivory color table?
😊Short and sweet
I’m definitely going to try to make this happen, but my railing was not bolted like that the last time. It was just inside the rub rails. I hope I don’t run into an issue with too big of a gap at the front door. I’m not convinced that I’m dealing with all original parts, and they have multiple holes from multiple installs…
How do you think 2" wide velcro would work between the fence panel and the seat? Then no screw heads. Just a thought.
What if you have duel fuel tanks and want the guage to respond as you switch from main to auxiliary?
Best bet would be to add a second fuel gauge for the additional tank. I'm sure you could add in an on/off switch for the sending wire from each tank, but I've never tried it. I'd be nervous that it could lose some accuracy by adding in that interruption. Not sure though 100%. I have only ever added a second gauge for an additional tank.
Hey Man keep up the good videos!
The blue moving border is distracting and annoying
Heck yeah this helps. My tank has 3 wires?
Then, one may be your fuel pump hot wire
if your tank has three wires then it is possible like my one, one increasing the ohm and the other decreasing, you only need 2 cables if you switch to an after-market gauge, just see which one says full when is empty and empty when it is full, and toss it away and use the other one..
Often you'll have a pink sending wire, black ground wire, and green wire that grounds the tank to the rail or fill spout to prevent spark issues.
Trying to install the corner seat and found that the holes in the hinge are aligned so that when the seat is closed the bolt heads top vs bottom hit each other, preventing it from closing completely. Seams like a design flaw. Have you experienced this? Is there a work around?
hey ! Can I use this glue for tufting rugs that can be washable ? I starting making rugs / carpets in my apartment.
Love watching Tom’s videos!
Thank you for choosing us.
Looks nice.
Thank you for your comment!
Are all signal wires pink?
No
From the factory I've only ever seen pink wire used as sending wire, however I haven't found a good source for 2 in 1 pink/black for fuel systems so I often run red as my fuel sending wire and label it under the dash with a piece of tape.
🤣 Promo'SM
Love all the videos! Please keep 'em coming.
Thank you! Will do!
Where do I order the deck mate railings? all I can find is fencing replacement metal rolls, I need the entire railing system.

Spectacular. Is it for sale? 😂
What base is that? I ordered a set on pontoon stuff but it didn’t come with the slider portion to fit to the seat. When I called them they informed me they are back ordered several weeks. So now I can’t mount my final seat 😢

@@DeckMateSeats Jim, I sent the email. Thanks for running such a customer friendly company. Between your products and tom’s videos, I’ve been able to do a complete rebuild of my boat only the pontoons are original now. I’ve built something that would have cost me $80k new for less than half that price!
I'm 60 plus years old and I've installed and then a lot of things in my life putting no seats together and installing them was about the simplest thing I've ever done great job to everybody on the crew from Engineers down to all the workers in the factory thank you again
How do you install the hinges on the 36 inch corner seats????????????????????
This is some good information
Super nice
. Very nice looking pontoon furniture it would be nice to see double stitching on it though
I guess the crummy music is suppose to impress instead of explaining how the product is built.
