Thanks for this guide! It was concise and beginner-friendly, which helps me immensely. I recently got Mocha Pro after loving Sapphire, so I'm still learning my way around the tools. (: I'll be sure to bookmark the Mocha Essentials playlist to learn more about roto. I'm hoping I'll get much better results than I was originally getting with AE's very own rotobrush.

Hair is always tricky. If you can pull a key, that is best. But... you can do open splines with Mocha. And it has been done manually ;)

I don't see the "export shape data" button : ( in Essentials

If you're using Mocha AE, we changed the data export workflow a few years ago to make it more robust. All shape creation is now done back in the host plugin. Save your project and exit Mocha. The you will see a whole section dedicated to Masks in the plugin. Here's a video that goes into a lot more detail about it : th-cam.com/video/Zk9Hg6R--lA/w-d-xo.html

I can't create an image mask.everytime I press apply matte the mask dissapears.i can only see and move the shape of IT.HELP.

I had this issue too but it's all good. The MochaAE program doesn't need them anymore because it's now handled in the plugin on after effects.
You can pull the transform/corner pin/masks straight out of the mochaAE plugin on your after effects layer. More recent mochaAE tutorials will explain this further on the BorisFX channel.

Just X out of mocha. It will ask you to save. Then just go to AE and your mocha data will be there

I hate programs who just hide away useful tools in the expensive pro version. It is just so demotivating to find out you do not have access to that same particular tool and need to do it by hand which is gonna take 10 times longer. Fuck that.

after watching this I wonder how much time and efforts do the Endgame editors bring into producing it, working frame by frame throughout 210 minute length end product @.@. It may take a single professional editor 10 years to finish and a noob like me 10 lives, provided that I live as long enough as 100 years per life.

When I click on Apply Matte on the plugin, the shapes that intersect start subtracting each other. Do you know how to fix that? Thanks

It sounds like your 2nd Mocha layer is set to "subtract" inside Mocha. If it is set to "add", there should be no subtracting when using "apply matte. You can always post on the Mocha forums here: forum.borisfx.com/c/mochapro

Have you opened a tech support case? Zoom windows do work, but are disabled by default. You need to use Classic workspace for zoom windows.
