Even though I was looking forward to such a bike, I would not buy a RE. Having used RE before (thunderbird escape 2007) I have been de-glamorized (if thats a word) by their service and build quality. REs may be cheaper to buy but in the long run they come out as expensive proposition, the post sales experience is very dissapointing. I would rather go for a Honda or a Kawasaki than RE even though the intial investment is more. I havent tried Kawasaki in all fairness so thats just a guess.
You really think Kawasaki's spare parts will cost you the same as RE 🤦🤦🤦 you'll be spending way more owning a decent size engine kawasaki than you'll ever spend on anything that RE has to offer
The design is superb, but it is very clise to tge ground and 47HP on a 240kg bike is not enough. RE needs to build a stronger version, either a 900-1000cc engine or adding a supercharger to the 650 twin to get around 80-90HP and adding a shaft or a belt final drive, upgrading the brakes as well.
Mention was made of the Kawasaki Vulcan 650 that weighs less and has considerably more power; it is roughly 8 pounds per horsepower, the Super Meteor 650 is well over 11 pounds per horsepower. The added weight of the SM650 compared to its siblings (Continental GT and Interceptor 650) amounts to 60-65 pounds, due to the laws of physics this bike will be boring to anyone other than a novice rider. Too heavy...
You are that guy, who has a ugly looking but great cook as wife. I prefer a pretty looking but average cook as my wife. Different perspectives, I guess.
We don't all go tearing around the countryside at speeds in excess of the speed limit risking our licence........... an inane and idiotic argument..........
@@buzzinbritain8222 As a rider of 30 odd years, I completely agree. Never felt the need to race everywhere and have been described as a 'sedate' rider!
Apart from reducing acceleration, which frankly I don't care about, the other drawback of the excessive weight is moving the bike around in the garage or parking space, getting it off the kickstand, getting it on and off the centre stand, preventing it from falling over on a wicked camber when coming to as stop. All these are things that I care about a great deal. My much beloved 1973 Triumph Daytona made 41 HP (versus 47 HP) and weighed only about 170 kg (374 lb). The Super Meteor weighs 241 kg (530 lb). Surely the starter motor doesn't weigh 71 kg (156 lb). RE should make a Interceptor 500 with a lower seat height and as much weight taken off as possible.
I am using this wonderful beautiful motorcycle since 1986
Beautifully described ❤. Am getting my Celestial Red Delivered tomorrow...🎉🥰😍
Congratulations ❤,but what about the service

Things have changed......... since 2007
2007 and today's RE aren't the same. After they'd brought out the 650 powerplants, RE changed completely!

Very nice. Great info.
Ride safe

The tank is too small - horrrible gap with lots of framework exposed around the headstock doesn't look nice............
Jobless troll, best of luck 🤞
Agree with you on the gap. Or maybe it is the upwards slope. In any case, something is not quite right IMO.
