Great review 👍 I totally agree that the quality on the super meteor 650 is very similar to the classic 350..I had the classic 350 and an Interceptor and always thought the classic 350 was superior in the fit and finish 👍
I really must get a test ride on the Super Meteor. That was a really great looking bike (might even be the one Kieran let me ride round the car park when they first opened). Was that ride around the Oxenhope/Denholme area?

Torn between one of these and an interceptor for my first real bike. Will be both my daily commute vehicle in a city and my weekend fun machine and also what i use to visit family on longer moterway trips. Which would you say is the better do it all bike? I am 5ft8.
Absolutely lovely bike . Nice review. I have the 350 meteor which I'll be sticking with as it does everything I want . Cruises at 60 ( 16 tooth front sprocket) and returns around 100 mpg . With cameras and bored police everywhere with nothing better to do than harass motorists , 60 is plenty and in the real world even in motorways you often can't ride at 70 plus unless it's 3 am . Happy riding everyone. 👍
Sorry for the stupid question but can this bike be used to filter in traffic? I mean it looks big but not as big as say Harleys. I’m currently debating on what bike to get and your videos keep me changing my mind….I wouldn’t mind but I don’t even have my license yet 😂😂😂 Ideally was just looking to ride on local roads (so greater London) trips into the city and maybe the odd 1hr-2hr trip out into the country side. I was originally thinking of a Suzuki sv650s, then the Inter650….but then I saw the Scram but wished they had a 650 in it and now this….I really don’t think I’d be wanting speed now (more I research the more I feel like I will never go back to my 18yr old speed freak addiction lol). I might try and pop down to my local RE and have sit on a few..but really don’t know which one to go for. Also for the checks - are they something easy for a new rider to do, or is it better to get the shop (where bike is bought from) to do it? Thanks for keeping me wanting more 😂
Hi and thank you….I would say follow your heart and instincts….I would go Interceptor myself….it will filter with care and still offer big bike performance and retro style in spades….it’s still Royal Enfield’s best seller and with good reason

Nice bike, I took one out and def tempted and I’ve never thought of buying a cruiser before the test ride, the only down side to me is the gap between the fuel tank and the headstock it seems the tank is smaller than it should be.
Yep another good looking bike from the Enfield collection and Colin Appleyard's new showroom is just great gotta get over again and take another look now this one is in and get a test ride or two, to enable a decision on which way to go but the choices right now are phenomenal so many good bikes and at some good prices too, great review BW well done !👌👍
I'm in the USA traveling full-time and stopping at every Royal Enfield dealer I can find. I'm jealous, and can't wait to test-ride one, but doubt I'll ever give up my sexy Interceptor 650 😉
They will release them here in the states in November but its already snowing and its October 😢 motorcycle season is over. I will wait till next year to get one
Why is Royal Enfield so popular in the U.K.? Is it because they offer a good quality for that price and that too below 5.000 € or is it because it’s a British legacy bike? In Germany I don’t see it. Can someone please explain it to me?
Because they are decently priced and people like the retro style and there's not a huge choice of bikes like that. Not at RE prices anyway. The history plays a part too
@@stuartloader4672 Yes, that makes sense. Why would someone want to spend 22,000 £ on a triumph bike, when you can get RE for 4 times less, which not 4 times low quality. I have also noticed that most RE users are middle aged people or older.
Great video Dave and a lovely point made about having some sympathy for the new machine, especially for a future owner. There’s no doubt that the extra weight comes from the use of metal on mudguards etc rather than plastic. That said I don’t think prospective purchasers are looking for sports bike performance. Just as an aside would you care for a little wager. I bet you’ll have one in your garage within 6 months 😂😂😂😂not sure about the pillion seat maybe better as a single seat but absolutely lovely machine. Now you are famous on here the bloody adverts are a pain in the a**e

Lovely looking bike. Thinking about having a test ride but think I will have a bit of a problem with the lack of power coming from riding 160+bhp sports bikes.
what a beautiful piece of work. shame about the side panel graphics. looks a bit "afterthought". i've got the 2022 classic 350 in halcyon green and it drips class. if i would - in the case of emergency - add the super meteor to my stable, i'd definitely go for the green (again) and replace the side panel graphics with my own design. maybe "super classic"? or has RE got a sinister plan? black/green/gold never fails.
Hmmm just tried one one of these factory custom's for size and the bike it reminds me of the most ? go on have a guess. harley 883 nope it's a cx500 custom for the 2020's.

Ive ordered one sight unseen, they turn up in Australia in April, never had or even ridden a cruiser before so hope its not to much of a stretch, im still on a restricted licence here LAMs/A2 and this is the biggest bike you can get here for that licence, love the aesthetics of it, shes a beauty!
A lovely looking bike and like all cruisers a little bit hefty but then that just adds to there stability. Is it really a cruiser though, some might ask 🤔 especially someone who doesn't like cruisers but loves Royal Enfield's 😂

Cracking proper bike at great price. It'd be perfect in my opinion if RE were to fit it with final belt drive instead of chain. Or perhaps just offer a conversion kit as an option.

The old Yamahammer would eat this thing for breakfast, and last twice as long! Tell me one thing that is better on this bike than on the old XS650? Why are you limeys so excited about it? Just because it has British name? Its an anachronism. A thing belonging to a period other than that in which it exists, especially a thing that is conspicuously old-fashioned Grumpy old boomer here! It needs a analog tach like the interceptor other than that it’s very nice, really like the tubeless wheels Front mud guard should be longer and more practical like the 350 has I have a phone and watch if I want the time
yes , good long review in the real world of mixed roads and rain ;;; i think the standard versions of all the re's look better than the dearer ones with all the trinkets ,;;but the options are there for those that need them ...
My 350 Meteor is fun but not great for me as I feel it’s a real nut thumper and I have got off the bike with pins and needles in my nads strangely enough. The 650 does look nice, wish I had a bigger bike as I feel the lack sometimes on my 350. Brill bikes for the money. Great review ta 👍🍻
To be honest the leg position is actually further forward than on the meteor 350, which is 90 degrees, but the super meteor is more like 100 degrees or a bit more.
Personally I would have preferred a more modern looking cruiser. I don't find it particularly pretty but It isn't ugly either. Looks kind of dated to me. I think that motor looks utilitarian. Just my two cents.
I don’t understand why they just can’t make a such a lovely machine with just a bit more power and Torque. I know it may raise the price but at least make it an option.
@@pedroc6823Outside of America you don't really need more. We dont have to go on 70mph roads on a daily basis. Just for moving between cities. Most roads I go on are 60 but you realistically don't go over 50 because of the amount of bends. It's not a slow bike really anyway. I used to ride a ninja 250 and could do 100 and overtook quite easily on the motorway. This bike is faster. You don't need to over take 30mph faster than the vehicle you're passing.
Hitchcock motorcycles do offer modifications on royal enfields apparently with contact of royal enfield HQ. Or some other third party modifications for better performance.
I got mine a week ago, done 300miles now waiting for first service. Lovely bike, I'm only 5'7" 29"leg. Doesn't feel heavy, gearbox selection problem unfortunately.
Ok there is an often voiced school of thought (and with some basis in fact) that the oil change and valve clearance check should be every 3k…..bearing in mind of course it’s always a 12 month interval if you don’t do 3 or 6 k a year

Whether something lacks power depends upon the context….for what they are they have more than enough power provided they’re intelligently ridden….I find that they encourage better riding plans

Cracking proper bike at great price.
It'd be perfect in my opinion if RE were to fit it with final belt drive instead of chain. Or perhaps just offer a conversion kit as an option.
You might have a point there as belts and cruisers seem a match made in heaven

The 45-year-old XS650 would in fact be a better bike - by any criteria. The old Yamahammer would eat this thing for breakfast, and last twice as long!

So a 800cc version of this has a pretty high chance of coming in future.
This 650 meteor seems to be better quality-wise, than the India-made black Royal Enfield Bullet 350cc that we got used to in the 70s, 80s in India.
All the new Enfields are a vast improvement on those earlier ones but the classic 350 and Super Meteor are particularly good 👍🏻
I hope so. Your review reveals no vibes on the 650 Meteor as on the cast-iron 350 old bullet. It looks heavy and could use more horses?
I think that once run in, like my Interceptor, several more horses will be unleashed 😊👍🏻

yes , good long review in the real world of mixed roads and rain ;;; i think the standard versions of all the re's look better than the dearer ones with all the trinkets ,;;but the options are there for those that need them ...

My 350 Meteor is fun but not great for me as I feel it’s a real nut thumper and I have got off the bike with pins and needles in my nads strangely enough. The 650 does look nice, wish I had a bigger bike as I feel the lack sometimes on my 350. Brill bikes for the money. Great review ta 👍🍻

To be honest the leg position is actually further forward than on the meteor 350, which is 90 degrees, but the super meteor is more like 100 degrees or a bit more.
I hope to be trying the standard Meter very soon 😎👍🏻

Personally I would have preferred a more modern looking cruiser. I don't find it particularly pretty but It isn't ugly either. Looks kind of dated to me. I think that motor looks utilitarian. Just my two cents.

I don’t understand why they just can’t make a such a lovely machine with just a bit more power and Torque. I know it may raise the price but at least make it an option.
It’s got plenty of torque but why more power? In the UK that would exclude a lot of younger riders
In most US states keeping up with traffic means at least 75 and you need good passing power.,
Here they think they are in a race track.
@@pedroc6823Outside of America you don't really need more. We dont have to go on 70mph roads on a daily basis. Just for moving between cities.
Most roads I go on are 60 but you realistically don't go over 50 because of the amount of bends.
It's not a slow bike really anyway. I used to ride a ninja 250 and could do 100 and overtook quite easily on the motorway. This bike is faster.
You don't need to over take 30mph faster than the vehicle you're passing.
Hitchcock motorcycles do offer modifications on royal enfields apparently with contact of royal enfield HQ.
Or some other third party modifications for better performance.

I got mine a week ago, done 300miles now waiting for first service. Lovely bike, I'm only 5'7" 29"leg. Doesn't feel heavy, gearbox selection problem unfortunately.

Great looking bike, just the 4660mile service intervals that put me off, oil and valves, shorter than the Interceptor for no reason I can find...
Strictly speaking Interceptor should be service every 3k to my mind but they are easy to service yourself

Ok there is an often voiced school of thought (and with some basis in fact) that the oil change and valve clearance check should be every 3k…..bearing in mind of course it’s always a 12 month interval if you don’t do 3 or 6 k a year

It's a good-looking bike if you like crusiers. Power is lacking on all the RE's.
Whether something lacks power depends upon the context….for what they are they have more than enough power provided they’re intelligently ridden….I find that they encourage better riding plans
