3 things you NEED for a PERFECT throw!!

  • In this video Tomas Ekström talks about 3 different things needed for a perfect disc golf throw - whether you´re a beginner or not. And WHY those things are needed. It´s also about the difficulty to have all 3 working well together.
    The 3 steps are the Stop (weight transfer), the Twist and the Arm. ”Stop” meaning the moment the foot in front - in the final stance during the throw (right foot with a right handed backhand) comes to a complete stop transferring the energy from the run-up up in and up in the body and ultimately to the disc. The Twist comes right after the reach back when the lower and upper body are twisted opposite each other. Creating a spring effect when the upper body then follows the throwing motion of the hips (think of it as twisting the upper half of an actual spring and then letting go). Same idea here. The Arm is the final step. Pulling the disc, giving it said power from the Stop and the Twist.
    NOTE!
    These steps doesn´t happen in an A,B,C-pattern necessarily. It all happens very fast hence the diffuculty getting everything right when timing the throw. And having 2 out of these 3 steps is relatively easy and something that most people can get. It´s added that 3rd thats the tricky part. But this (having all 3) combined with a good timing is KEY to throw as far as you possible can!
    We hope you enjoy the video and do let us know if there´s something you´d like to see on the channel :)

    i think this is slightly false. you can't add all of those together as the run up is only setting up the coil. most power i feel comes from how far you can "wind" the coil and accelerate it. the further you wind the coil means the more time you have to build acceleration through the motion, not to mention the other factors like spin rate that go into the overall potential energy of that discs flight.

      I think it’s more about acceleration than the outright walk-up speed. If you study how TT accelerates through the rotation, with immense power from the hips, it seems he doesn’t need to run up. It’s like a powerful explosion when he unleashes the disc. He did a form breakdown with slow motion video.

    Are you guys going to ask for forehand videos from viewers and then provide tips as you did for backhands? Would be super helpful

    That analogy doesn’t necessarily make sense, you’re still throwing at 50km/h if you’re on a trailer going 50km/h? Am I wrong?

  • @wethepeople7718
    @wethepeople7718 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    trailer on ship is still only going 50.....same as the ship

    • @Latitude64
      @Latitude64  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It´s meant to be that the trailer is also driving on the big ship :)

      the ship speed is a constant....doesnt matter if trailer is moving....physics

      All you have to do is time stopping the earth's rotation with your throw and you'll crush it (and everything else)

      Focus on each independently and it will. If you start focusing on all of these, you'l likely lose focus on other things in your drive. Backhand ain't easy.
