- The General Overseer of Deeper Life Church, Pastor Kumuyi has made some important remarks on women dressing in Deeper Life Churches.
In this video, Pastor Kumuyi shares how Deeper Life Church leaders should approach the issue of dressing and head covering in church.
He also advised married women and single ladies on the issue of dressing
This is the 1st time I'm listening to him preach and I'm blessed.
Thanks for this expository message by our father in the Lord. Dressing without been born again as a child of God is not an automatic ticket to enter the kingdom of God.We should allow Gods guardian's in our churches if any body is entering our church for the first time without taken cognisance on our mode of dressing.

This is what a great man of God is ,he just clarified what it means for women to cover their heads,not any correction about the church in particular,moreso he already noticed or probably there had been a lot of complaints about overzealous ushers In deeper life and their holier than thou attitudes,he should be applauded for not concealing it and blurting out the truth, meaning he respects God more than what criticism humans has to offer. This is a balanced message! Mahatma Ghandi was attracted to Christianity by the character of Christ but an usher turned him back at the door! That was how we lost such a great soul to Hinduism. Imagine the impact it would have had on India today if the usher had shown him some love and welcomed him the way he was.
What is balanced? This is what he taught the Church and it has been there for years. Let our pastor not transfer blames. Let him accept responsibility of what he created.

The teaching is very clear. This issue came up in 1992. There is no ambiguity in the message. The message is that when you are born again, as a lady you know that you must cover your head while praying or prophesying. But, it is not necessary when you are in your house, or market, or school, or place of work to cover. But even if you are in your office and you want to pray, you must cover your head.
The funny thing is that 90% of these women under baba’s teaching cover hair 24 hours, they are just laughing, it’s more of a custom, at work these women cover hair with turban, now it’s hard for many to change because they are just used to it.
This message should have been emphasised 20, 30 years ago however it’s not too late.
Daddy was just trying to explain how dangerous it is to force doctrine on sinners , the bottom line of his message is that doctrine is for the saints and not the sinners he is never against the doctrine of the Bible

its painful because, many of this ideas originally was not from pastor Kumuyi, it was over sabi leaders in that church that act like they know it all. and because of this many are made to belief that dressing in a certain way is what equates to holiness. this same people are malicious, can't even follow peace with others, etc but they believe dressing is the ticket to heaven, that mentality alone is a shame and its of the devil.
And when someone leaves the church, they see you as a sinner, how on earth does leaving a church makes you a sinner? infact when we think deep on many of this things, we realize how satan has cheated the body of christ to focus on the things that are not what matters. what then, is the difference between us and the scribes and pharises of the bible days?

Yes, there's a lot of hypocrisy amongst christian sisters because of the way they dress when they are in the church. But this does not mean that those who have already known the truth about dressing should not dress modestly as godly christians. I am highly blessed by this message.

Pastor WF Kumuyi is correcting a lot of erroneous believes and practices amongst his followers due to religiousity , hypocrisy and ignorance of proper application of the Word of God. I think you were quite harsh to say that he was addressing "hypocrisy" in Deeper Life. It is not hypocrisy to ask a lady to cover her head before entering into church, it is rather obedience to the Word of God. The Word of God admonishes female believers not to appear in the Presence of God with their heads uncovered. At a point in this video, during 4:01 to 4:17, Pastor Kumuyi said that a sister who is born again knows that she should cover her head when she comes into the church. So the Man of God is not encouraging the unscriptural practice of going to church with head uncovered. What he is simply counseling us against is the idea of rushing to cover a female's head as she enters the church without knowing whether or not she is born again. We should let her enter the church just as she is. After she listens to sermons and becomes born again, when next she wants to enter Church she will cover her head. Salvation first before adherence to the commandments of God. We should not try to make them adhere to God's Commandment of head covering when we don't even know if they are already saved or not. That is the Man's point. Don't misinterpret his message, please.
And it is quite unchristian of you to refer to Deeper Life as hypocrites just because you do not share our religious beliefs. We are all members of One Body in Christ regardless of denomination. Let there be unity in the Body of Christ.
There is no church that does not have hypocrisy. Many churches, deeper life being in the lead, emphasis so much on dressing and it makes me wonder where the place of the Holy Spirit is. Some, of course not all, in deeper life are so concerned about outward appearance that they neglect their hearts. God help us all

Thank God for this overdue message. I attended a service many years back where the late Arch Bishop Benson Idahosa said he had told Daddy Kumuyi that he was one of problems of the body of Christ in Nigeria because of the doctrines of the Deeper Life Church. I am so happy that Papa Idahosa's admonition is yielding fruits. Thank God for the new mummy Kumuyi - it's obvious she is godly woman indeed. The Church of Jesus is matching on. Praise God!
Hearing that for the first time from you. How is he the problem of the church in Nigeria when he was already leading large congregation even when Idahosa was still alive. There will always be some differences in the way we interpret the bible, but he was never a problem of the church.

Pastor is only clarifying the covering of head, the cleanness of women like washing their hair clean with non bleaching soaps that will destroy the natural hair. Bath well and clean all areas that needed cleaning. So they look pleasing to their husbands.
He is not supporting worldliness in the church.

The commandment of God stands and it's unchanging even if man changes. Headcovering is not a recent doctrine. Saints like John Wesley, Charles Spurgeon, Jonathan Edwards, John Knox, the Apostle Paul, Martin Luther, etc., taught it.
You have no excuse if you ignore and label it as hypocrisy, pretense or false teaching. You will meet God tomorrow and he will find you wanting if you disobey. I pray God remove every blindness from us all and save us for Heaven, Amen.

He is not addressing the issue by not owning up that he thought the Church. Our pastor should accept that he made mistake. These are now. Not just covering of head. There are a lot of teachings that are not biblical. What about trousers, wrist watch etc. At a time, it was sin to dress decently.

Every bit of words and thoughts will be judged according to the word of God on that day. Honestly I had the experience of this in kaduna a woman that I used to call mama junior invited me to the deeper life church as i came in about six persons were sitting where I sit then after prayers when I open my eyes it was only me left in d that long seat so I was discouraged after service I left never come back.

The message is not fully clear yet, i think we should read the message of Paul to the Corinthians and see well he wasn't talking about women covering their heads with scarf...
The head of the woman is the man...
1. Which woman and which man?
This is the man a woman is married to not every man in the church, here Paul was dealing with authority not scarf and head on our neck.
The head of the woman that is married to the man is the man...now that woman who is covered simply means she is married or joined to a man who now becomes authority over her, when such woman sinned she uncovered her head, when such prayed or prophesied angels don't honour her...
A man woman who covered simply dishonour Christ because he is an authority and Christ is his covering, a woman can not be his covering again, this is why Bible said woman should not have usurp i.e authority over the man...not scarf thing, moreso Paul the apostles was only using the tradition of the Corinthians to explained authority in marriage or unionism.
Moreso Paul already concluded we don't have such tradition in the church of Christ...
Paul is not a religious man so he doesn't teach culture and tradition.
The reason the spirit of Antichrist kept many Christians in the dark of Christain religion is because they don't hear him for once...
Jesus would have been the first to sent the woman with the alabaster pot away from his pressence using her hair to clear his legs.

It's good thing you made it clear that this is shocking being a member of the deeper life church. The question is, did he mislead the member years ago with his doctrines that led the church on that path? all the same thank God that he is correcting himself. There's still much for the deeper life to unlearn.
Yes, he did. Those regulations were not from God nor are they in Scripture. There are many of those rules including Women wearing of trouser, necklace, wrist watch, birthday celebration etc.. At his eighth year he celebrated his birthday.
Now, birthday celebration is no longer sin. It's terrible. Let everybody pray for him.
