For an LNAV/VNAV app, the APP push/button should be arm when the Final descent point (identified on your MCDU from the F/plan page) is the TO WPT (as per FCTM). You did not need to be level at 2000ft because the system is calculating a continuous descent path. Also for an LNAV app, 50ft has to be added to the minima (unlike for an LNAV/VNAV app). No need to fly a “selected/selected” VOR app, lateral Managed / vertical selected should have been appropriate 😏

Another great tutorial. Maybe you explain this in another video, if so publish the link. My question is on an Approach what is the difference between a via and transition? My understanding is the transition is the point that you leave the enroute structure to the STAR, but how do you use via?
We’re gonna answer this specifically in a future video for sure, but as for now, VIA is a specific point like a navigational aid which gives a reference point to an approach, like a VOR over or near an airfield which leads to a vor approach, or a specific waypoint that works as the start of an approach, TRANSITION on the other hand is as it says it’s a point that allows you to transition from enroute/airways to a star or a via point to the approach. Hope this helps. :)

Hi..... Thanks for the video....One question......performing a vor approach sel/sel......am I required to set miss app. Altitude basically at undred above ....and not at faf like in other types of approaches?..... thanks
Hello Captain, very good video. Learned a lot. However, I do have one question regarding your managed VOR approach. The managed approach is done via GPS waypoints, not via the VOR signal, itself. Right? You are using the VOR signal just to check if you are both horizontaly and verticaly on track.
Very clear tutorial. Before landing it becomes a bit difficult to follow (understandable because everything happens very quickly). What kind of eye track are you using?
I'm just using visual reference as I would with any aircraft, initially I aim for the touch down zone of the runway, then I look to the end of the runway and flare using rudders to keep centerline while flaring.
Hello, Thanks for your Comment, We'll surely work on including your request in a future video... for now I'll attempt to answer your questions... Let's say you're cruising @ 37,000 ASL feet, you need to descend to 5,000 Feet. First, we figure out how much Altitude we need to lose (Cruise - Target = Alt to Lose) i.e (37000 - 5000 = 32000) divide this number by 1000 and then multiply by 3 (32000/1000 = 32 | 32 x 3 = 96 Nautical Miles away is when you should start your descent. If the descent is constant and you don't level off in the middle the engines should remain at IDLE during this time. Hope this helps, any further questions please feel free to contact us! :)

If you're on ILS Approach when you get G/S on the FMA after G/S* (G/S* means its still in the process of capturing) on VOR ro RNAV "FINAL APP" basically when the A/C has started its decent from the "FAF" to the Runway is when you want to set the Go-Around Altitude.

Hi Could I ask you When is it required to do a raw data holding? And what exactly do u mean by raw data holding . Is it a manual flying of the hold , or the fact that you have to perform it without the FMS , I.e. catering for the wind, and finding the entery on your own ? See unlike the ILS where a failure of FD might force you to fly the ILS magenta diamonds
@@waypointsaviation Good morning thank you for the reply. It's typically asked when we get a dual FMGC failure and we are instructed to hold over a VOR. So it basically involves tuning the back up nav, using the ROSE VOR function, getting to the VOR, figuring out the entry and complete the hold, all done manually. I have made my own notes but would love to see you demonstrate that. Just found out your channels and it's very high quality work. Thanks again for your hard work.
The other day I tried an rnav approach. Didn’t work tough. While on final is saw ‘ils’ flashing in my screen and the plane steered away from the route so had to take manual control. I didn’t use the LS system, armed approach (both AP’s) and selected the RNAV approach while planning the FMC. I got an earlier warning ‘select correct approach’ (or similar) - any idea what I might have done wrong? Was second time (landing in Darwin, Australia, Rw11). Thanks again - hope you don’t mind me asking!
Hello, Thanks first of all THANKS for tuning in, ok onto your question, if you see “ILS” flashing on your PFD it means that you have chosen an ILS approach in the mcdu, to do an rnav approach you must ensure you’ve selected “rnav” specifically in the mcdu flight plan page under the airport you’re landing at. Keep in mind the “LS” buttons don’t activate or deactivate the ILS they simply display the ILS data on the PDF which is why we turn them off when doing any other kind of approach other than an ILS. Hope this helps! :)
