  • Today, we're taking an in-depth dive into the Operation of the Airbus A320 Side-Stick, and we'll go over the technique of how to safely land the A/C on the Runway. Keep in mind, every Landing is going to be different, this technique is just a guide on what to look out for when attempting a Landing.
    We'll be performing these exercises at a holding point near Dubai International Airport, located in the United Arab Emirates (OMDB).

    i agree with everyone else commenting on your tutorials that they are the best, most imformative videos on youtube. absolutely great for educational purposes! i am currently learning to fly the a321 neo only by simulators and yt tutorials, and both have gotten so good that i think i could actually fly the real version from cold and dark, to destination with all steps in between😀 obviously i will never get the chance to do so, but its nice to know the actual workload and procedures of the real pilots out there that we trust with our lives everytime we fly somwhere, thank you for great content👏

    New to flight sim; thank you so much for this tutorial - being able to see the stick in the video, the advice about small "pull and release" movements to 5 degrees at 50 feet; all that helped a lot and was a game changer to get my first decent flare and landing. As a newbie, I was trying to start everything at 30 feet which I think is the official recommendation, but I was having a hard time. 50 feet for now seems to give me some more breathing room to get the pitch right. Thanks again!

      i first started to notice this "Balooning over the Runway" once i got my Airbus Hotas from Thrustmaster. Before that i was flying with the good old X52 Hotas from Saitec. Do to the Ergonomics of the Thrustlever it was Always righthand Stick, lefthand Lever. Now i have to get used to fly the Airbus with my left Hand ( i want to, i know i could switch the Buttons and make it like the Saitec was). Anyway i think this was in my Case the Reason of the Bad, long Landings! But the technical Inside on how the Airbus behaves and what to do helped me big Time. Stil not perfectly landed the Airbus, but way closer to the Touchdown zone. Thank You! @@waypointsaviation

    I fly the flybywire a320 neo in msfs202 and I have noticed that they model this pitch down at 30ft you mentioned. I've never quite gotten comfortable with the flare yet, though only very recently got an actual stick to work with. Will try this out in the future :)

    • @BjerkeRobin
      @BjerkeRobin 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The A320 takes care of rudder coordination for you. At most a slight squeeze to line up before the nozewheel touches according to what I have heard.
      Then again... I am a novice computer pilot so by no means take anything I say seriously 😂

    • @waypointsaviation
      @waypointsaviation  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey! Landing in a crosswind In a big fast jet my technique is to usually just use the Ailerons all the way down to the point where I'm over the flare for the runway, keeping the rudders free for when I need them the most. Once a few feet over the runway I push the rudders to "de-crab" the A/C pointing the nose down the end of the runway while deflecting the Ailerons into the wind to stop the crosswind from lifting the wing. Hope this helps.

  • @bazokazoro4563
    @bazokazoro4563 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    When pitching the A/C pulling the sidestick aft
    The moving surface is the TSH or the elevater! Or the elevater kicks in if high rate of pitch is required?

    • @waypointsaviation
      @waypointsaviation  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      When you push and pull the side stick it’s the same elevator that moves first to change the aircraft’s AoA (Angle of Attack) and shortly then the THS moves to trim the a/c to the new AoA

    • @Samyak320
      @Samyak320 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      On the ND I see the winds coming from right, so naturally the plane would have it's nose pointed to the right. But somehow it appears the plane is pointing it's nose to the left.
      Not really sure about setting up multiple screens for msfs, you might wanna visit the dedicated forum.

    Does your airline grade you on the landing rate, if so wondering what is an acceptable landing rate for an A320

    • @waypointsaviation
      @waypointsaviation  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey,
      The airline doesn’t really grade the landing unless a report is filed by the other pilot or crew deeming the landing unsafe, so if it’s too rough a touch down (weather conditions taken into consideration) and the usability of the a/c after the landing would be considered. Having said that between -50 to -250 feet per minute descent rate on touch down is usually considered good landing rates, anything higher than his can be considered a hard landing and it gets worse from there.
      Hope this helps 😁🤙🏽

    • @waypointsaviation

      That’s correct. Constant pressure on the stick is considered a constant command on that control surface

    • @davidsanroma9787
      @davidsanroma9787 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@waypointsaviation I am confused by this. You mentioned that once you hit 50' the airplane goes into "direct input mode", therefore if we hold the stick in certain position, shouldn't the plane hold that position ? If "direct input mode" is established, why should the pitch increase when holding the stick back ?
      I am just trying to clarify ideas. 😉

    Questions follow after each tutorial. Is this a real A-320 airbus simulator?

    • @waypointsaviation
      @waypointsaviation  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Reality is subjective. Does it replicate the behavior of an A320 aircraft? Yes, completely. Does it feature cockpit interior? Absolutely. Does it simulate all professional failures like an actual plane? Yes, it does.
      However, is it supported by the aircraft manufacturer? No, it isn't. Does it cost millions of dollars to build? No, it doesn't.
      It's a fixed-base, personally crafted cockpit. Nevertheless, I appreciate your question.

      Essentially Yes, but still requires 100% airmanship and demands 200% from the Pilot to make sure the Pilot gives the right input into the computers

    so it has anti flare software ,,, the plane is already set up in a flare and the software over rides it and pushes the nose down ,,,airbus is so dumb with all their non pilot software built in

      You’d be surprised how little is needed to fly the Airbus in some aspects and how much is needed in other aspects. End of the day it’s an aircraft with its own unique traits, our job as pilots is not to complain about not it but rather master it 😁
