  • This week we tackle the task of installing a big 2.0L engine for a beetle, into a bay window bus. The motor was not built for the Bay, so we have to make the proper changes to make it work. So get ready for another Job we've got to get done. #volkswagen #vwbus #baywindow #autorepair #dailydriver

    Hi George, Nice to see Bel-Metric! Always quality hardware and great service. I've used them for 30+ years. Cheers from Massachusetts, G.

    I would consider using the orange loctite. Holding strength of red, breakaway of blue. You really shouldn't need to use red except for extreme heat situations.

    I’m curious to your rational why no gasket from J-tube to header. I heard you mention the supplier said either way works, but was it just convenience reasons you did sealer only?
    Your attention to detail and methodical procedures are something most don’t do(including myself) but very impressive. Having ADD quite severely I think it would help me not forget steps for multi step jobs. I’m going to strive to be more methodical going forward.
    Thanks for the inspiration.

      The manufacturer recommends the pea size copper rtv in the past. Tiger got back to me after install. The flanges are so tight, I’m not worried about it leaking. If it does on fire up I’ll let you know. 👍🏽

    Great video! What about the oil cooler? You recommend to change it to a type 4 also?

    • @the_Wagen
      @the_Wagen  ปีที่แล้ว

      The Concept One shroud offers the type 4 cooler option.
      To do it to this tin set would require welding then re- coating., plus cooler cost. The customer is not interested. But we have done them in the past.

    I thought early bays had NO mustash bars, am I correct

    • @the_Wagen
      @the_Wagen  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No. Early bays have the mustache bar. Late bays as well. Split bus does not.

      @@the_Wagen Ok. The reason I ask is that I have a 1600 cc engine but I think it's not compatible with a bus set up with mustash bar. I think I will need to drill holes to adapt it. Anyway thanks, I guess I will find out when I try to install it
