The GOLDEN GOBLET is a unique way for Dan, MALF, and I to play some games we're all familiar with and add an extra layer of competition. This week we're playing Escape First 3 and trying to see who is the best at solving completely arbitrary puzzles. Enjoy!

About this game:
The Room PC is a fully-enhanced HD release of Apple's 2012 iPad Game Of The Year, including the 'EPILOGUE' DLC that adds 20% more content and play time to the original release. This PC version of the game has been many months in the making and has involved recreating almost every asset in the game from the ground up. - เกม

The fact he strategically avoided the sliding puzzle with the eyeglass on several goes around the box wounded my soul on a deep level.
To have a little bit of constructive feedback here, though
NL, you should really apply the spyglass more often. First off, there are parts of the puzzles that have a sort of rainbow-colored sheen to them, and you can always see through those with the spyglass. Whenever there something is revealed to you, but seemingly has no purpose, also apply the glass.
All the contestants in this golden goblet have been sleeping on the spyglass despite it being introduced as an obviously major part of the puzzle solving process.
PS: I would absolutely love a full series of this.
@@Hakasedess I'd second this. Its so frustrating to see them ignore what is clearly the central mechanic of the game.
He spent the first 5 minutes not using the spy glass and wondering why he doesn't know where to start...

NL, please play more of this! It's actually wonderful to see you run your sets and actually surprise me with your puzzle solving speed for once! I'd also love for you to play this regardless of Guldan Goblet, if MALF and Dan would rather pivot to something else!

@Miasma At that point it was only an alleged 5 letter password. The existence of a fifth letter had yet to be confirmed.
In other words, don't try to put your heart in a headcase.
The trickiest bit with these puzzle boxes is finding the seam initially. Once you get that opening it all tends to start falling into place.
These are super fun to watch, backseat driving desire not withstanding.

This has everything I want and love out of NL- the struggle, the mindflood, and at the end of the tunnel, the absolute POGGERS.
I was physically hurting at the key puzzle there. Thank god he figured it out lol GG NL, great game for the golden goblet !

Yo NL small tip: when you see an oil tinted surface or panel it means you gotta use your eye piece on it. Otherwise great gameplay

I would absolutely love a full playthrough of the other room games. I personally think it fits better in a non golden gauntlet context. Just so you can appreciate the puzzles and environment a little more without feeling rushed, but I'll take whatever I can get.
For sure one of my favourite Golden Goblets. Wish to see more of that!
NL its always good to use the eye piece on everything and usually things that require the eye piece look like they have an oil spill type reflection, if you plan on playing again!
He needs to use the revealing eye piece more. That's his only problem.

In some of the other puzzles (the safe dials for example), you can keep entering a sequence until you get one wrong. I just thought for the first bit that I had the sequence right and the sixth one was triggering the failure condition.
Fantastic, that tension and quick rattling.

This is the only Goldan Goblet outside of Spelunky that has gotten me to watch everybody's viewpoint. If that isn't a strong endorsement, I don't know what is.

The ending was hype. Would probably have been faster if he remembered the yeglass at the start. :p probably a good idea to just use it whenever something new is uncovered.
All "The Room" games are very good. I highly recommend them for more Golden Goblets.

Just a thought. Wouldn't it make more sense, to choose a level, and then see who completes it faster, rather than, who gets the furthest in 30 minutes?
That's what we tried with the first game is why we spent 60 minutes in the torture chamber

I played through The Room Three yesterday because of this (already played 1 and 2 in the past) and not gonna lie, it gets pretty crazy and used hints a few times, mostly because I simply couldn't find stuff to interact with.
This was my issue in 2, there was too much going on to focus on what was "next"
oh a pannel where it appears I can only click six buttons before it resets

This is a great series. Just an FYI if you play Room 3. It's a little more "open world, point and click adventure-y". It still has chapters is is definitely linear for the first 4-5 chapters. Then it kinda opens up a bit. Still would be a good fit i think. I'd say the average time to completion is 6-8 hours. So an hour a day for a week should get you guys most of the way through it if not all the way. It has multiple endings, so there's a few "red herrings" in it for a race.
I thought it was just a joke but NL's yolk is truly scrambled.
That ending was like a moment out of Indiana Jones.

However it's also the one with the most fiddly bits that are pretending to be puzzles.

Amazing that not one of them figured out surfaces that change under the eyepiece have an oily sheen on them. So many competitive minutes cut down in their prime.

This game is so relaxing and the Cthulhu lore is so good. its a shame this mad man is rushing it. Do the last one!
That's a big old JO crystal if I ever saw one.
Ok, so here's the main process of the game: Look for stuff to interact with and try to move things. Look at everything with the lens. If you pick something up, look at it from all sides in the inventory and try to move parts.
You mostly got held back by not looking through the lens and also never really checked the items in the inventory, except it was the last thing you could think of. (well and let's ignore brainfarts like with the key puzzle)
Other than that, the rest is finding interactable parts, but I would agree that that is most often the biggest issue in these games.

Picked this game up and went through the whole thing the other day. 1 minor tip that may shave some time if you do more of these: the letters with lore bits are just lore. No info needed for the puzzles.
