Haken are masters at writing the perfect chorus. They're simply the best in all of rock music. It's what drew me to their music, but the lyrical content and complexity keep me coming back. Hook, line and... pun.
This whole song was an advertisement at the beginning of a youtube video I was about to watch. Might be the only 4-minute ad I didn't skip. I listen to progressive metal all the time (Tesseract, DGD, Contortionist), so if TH-cam picked up on that and start doing this more often, I've got no complaints with it.
This seems to incorporate all the best elements of Haken. You have the poignant and prominent choruses found on Aquarius/Visions, the tight TIGHT song structure like on The Mountain, the sweet implementation of synths and electronics from Affinity I’m definitely hyped
Theres a whole sub-genre called neoclassical that specializes in strict classical composure. Try Adagio, Veiled in Scarlet, Richard Anderssons Space Odessey or Time Requiem I think youll like them.
So, is the patient the Cockroach King? "Bring an empire to its knees" -The Good Doctor "An Empire fallen to its knees" -Cockroach King It could be a long shot, but even with the title of the album, Vector, it seems like they could be trying to tie things together. Like, what if this album serves as the point in space between all of their other albums? What if all of their albums' stories take place in one universe, and this is the album that ties them all together?
Madara Uchiha You might be right. I think you're more than likely right, but the word you're thinking of is "vertex" (a point where lines meet) rather than "vector" (a construct consisting of a direction and a magnitude, alternatively a 'method of entry').
SICK! Honestly I did not like it much at first but I think that's because I listened through my phone's speakers. Put headphones on, listened again, and was blown away. Can't wait for the album

Here, we Argentines have a phrase that is used when we are anxious to see a band, "bring doors that you have left over!" AGUANTE HAKEN VIEJAS!!!!
Listened to this song once and went to the hospital as a result. My good doctor prescribed this album and some electricity. So I pre-ordered it with my smart-toaster while taking a bath.
Yeah, this album is definetly going to be explosive. This song kinda reminds me of In Memoriam from The Mountain. I actually really like that song, and the song. Especially the chaotic and very technical bridge

Hakprous? Lepken? Awesome song with an awesome influence. Don't get me wrong. It's still Haken!! And I love it!! Can't wait to get the album and to see them live!

Ok, kill admit I'm a Dream Theater fan but lately I've been listening to bands like Voyager (Australia), Leprous, Karnavool, and Haken. This is the second album from Haken I picked up and I've been listening to this one nonstop. I like this one better than their last. I'm going to try to see them in Chicago with Leporus....
There's so many amazing albums due to arrive in 2018. But just after listening to this one song. The new Haken album has pretty much jumped to my most anticipated release of the year.
So my expectations were already through the roof, and I've been super hyped about the new album...but, I'll be damned if they didn't find a way to exceed beyond what I could even comprehend...

GREAT! The perfect appetizer for an album that will be the best one in 2018. Glad to see you guys three times on tour - in New York, Hamburg and Munich!

Cecil Drakan thanks for the list of bands I already know. Get your head of out of your arse no one cares how much of a prog snob you are
Cecil he's talking about "modern" prog. Every Prog Fan should know Genesis and ELP. Plus, they are not "modern".
YOU FORGOT LEPROUS
That chorus may just be the catchiest thing I've heard all year
Listen to "Blot" by Beetween the buried and me
"Blot" is fucking fantastic, but that chorus is far from catchy I'd say! Memorable yes, arguably better yes, but not really an earworm.
Haken are masters at writing the perfect chorus. They're simply the best in all of rock music. It's what drew me to their music, but the lyrical content and complexity keep me coming back. Hook, line and... pun.
I have, the chorus in this is catchier. I liked the new BTBAM, but I'm far more into Haken than I am into them.

So different yet so familiar. Great song.

That's Haken for you ladies and gentlemen. This song kicks ass.
Feels like a solid evolution - not so similar that it's more of the same but not so different that it would alienate existing fans
On point.
It has a little bit of a Infiltrate Destroy Rebuild era CKY vibe to the vocals. Good stuff!
loved the jakob's ladder reference
absolute banger of a track also, of course
