In case anyone is wondering how this puzzle box is solved: You slide it diagonally. It might contain a pin that prevents sliding if not held in the correct orientation, but if you have the correct orientation, you can just slide the pieces right apart
They would have figured that out. It's to obvious. I think you need to give it a good swing in one direction and then the pins changes position and you can slide it out diagnolly.
@@YellowSpaceMarine there are puzzles like that, except you have to give it a spin on one axis, that way the pins are set and the whole thing can fall apart when picked up
This song is completely insane, but its amazing. The way it moves between segments so seamlessly, blending elements of prog, metal, electronica and experimental music all while maintaining a constant claustrophobic atmosphere and surprisingly catchy chorus, no words for it really.
i can't help but bawl out crying at the outro, the song builds up so much tension and just implodes at 6:21 its like it reaches into your soul and reaps you into tiny pieces of emotions
Not sure if people have noticed, but check out the map at 1:58 in the video. There's a "Midas Wing". Lyrics to the song "Cockroach King" do mention that the Cockroach King has a Midas touch. Another cool thing is that the map at 1:55 in the video clearly shows "Block 2". If you check out the lyrics of Good Doctor, the very first line is "Calling Dr. Rex to Cell block 2". Well, this seems to be the same block 2 shown in this video! Exactly at 2:19, there's a page which reads the exact lyrics of the song "The Good Doctor". The lyrics written in the page are : " Make sure his arms are bound And all his pills go down Make all his secrets drown Render his mind unsound" At this point, do note that I had the slow down the speed of the video to 0.25x to read the stuff written in the pages. That said, at around 2:21, we can see that the title of the page says "Doctor : E.C Tokias-Rex". And yes, the first line of "The Good Doctor" referred to "Dr. Rex".Furthermore, it reads "Treatment : Electroshock Therapy",and the chorus to "The Good Doctor" also mentions " Electricity is the prescription he needs ". To top it all off, the third thing written in that page is "Patient : #21". Going back to lyrics of "The Good Doctor", the first verse has the lines " Twenty inmates scream in their beds But one, one is silent ". Well, this matches up perfectly as well. There are twenty other people, and the patient in question is patient number 21 as shown in the video. At around 2:21, we can see the words "Inside his sparks fly" written on the page. And well, there's a line in "The Good Doctor" that says "Inside his mind, sparks fly". At around 2:23, the page reads "Parasites as thick as thieves paralyzed my golden wings". There are many mentions of golden wings in the song "Cockroach King". Now at 2:24, the page reads the lyrics to "Puzzle Box", which are clearly from the perspective of the patient. Now, this page seems to be a direct continuation of the page in 2:23 that read "Parasites as thick as thieves paralyzed my golden wings" and hence are the first person words of the patient #21, who might as well be the Cockroach King seeing the reference to "my golden wings". I'm probably overthinking, but yeah. At 2:24 another page reads "the answer Crystallised in history" (Crystallised with a capital C). At 1:56, the map has a "Crystal Wing". Guess what, there's a song by Haken named "Crystallised" as well. Not sure about the logical connection, but just putting this out there. There are more than subtle references to the Cockroach King in "The Good Doctor" as well. There's a keyboard keyboard part exactly similar to one in "Cockroach King". The last line of the chorus of "The Good Doctor" says "Brings an empire to its knees". The last chorus in "Cockroach King" has the lyric " An empire falling to its knees". From all this, I think we can safely conclude that the "The Good Doctor" and "Puzzle Box" are very closely related and happen in the same universe. Furthermore, I think it is not absurd to speculate that the Cockroach King is actually patient #21, the patient from whose perspective "Puzzle Box" is written. P.S : If you have difficulty in finding the exact things mentioned here in the video, feel free to let me know, I'll post screenshots of the same. And as I said before, set the video speed to 0.25x atleast one second before the timings mentioned in this answer and keep pausing and resuming quickly to get the desired part of the video!
If you notice the very first frame the video is released by Mountview institution, and the logo is a mountain's silhouette, like Haken's The Mountain album.
The video also says that Mountview instiution was established in 1895. There also happens to be someone born in 1895 with the middle name "Haken" as well xD www.ancestry.com.au/genealogy/records/carolina-haken-svensson_43132804
Just go into Haken with their most recent album, Virus and going back through their discography....just wow! I'm almost happy to be listening to it in this order. Hearing the same Motifs used in this song as A Glutton for Punishment, as well as all the others sprinkled throughout their works with a story spanning multiple albums. Truly a treat!
I've been doing the same thing! So far listened to the last three albums on repeat and love them all. Extremely difficult to pick a favourite but maybe Vector or Affinity since my fave songs are on them (Puzzle Box, 1985 & Earthrise). The last two minutes or so on this one are so sweet, pure ear candy (even if there's quite a juxtaposition between that and the lyrics, lol)!
I love this song so much. And while I appreciate the fact that they took the time and money to make a video, they could have just put a single drum cam on Ray for the entire song and I'd be thrilled
Fantastic track, I love how they mix those modern and "classical" progressive elements on their music so well. The rorschach test figures creep the hell out of me
In my opinion, Haken is one of the best and most genuinely 'progressive' bands currently working. You only get envelope pushing, genre bending gems like these from a very small handful of other bands, and it's comparatively rare for a band to be this consistently innovative over the course of so many albums. To date, I haven't heard a single piece of music by them that didn't leave me with a big grin by the end.
Without a doubt the most original sounding prog rock band to come along since Rush! HAKEN is the best prog band in the world right now! Dream Theater was my favorite, but HAKEN is more original sounding now. I just completely fell in love with them! Their music is so fucking awesome! It’s like they remind me of when I first found Rush in 1975 and they had a new sound that nobody else had. That’s what HAKEN has. A sound that nobody else has right now!!!
You should give the band Leprous a listen. They are on the same level as Haken and are one of the best prog bands out there. Check out their album Bilateral!

"Puzzle Box"
Latent memories forming deep inside of me
Dormant barren visceral senses now subdued
No escape. I navigate through my cave
Beneath the skin. They keep us in night and day
Parasite - Leech upon the guilt from all my wrongs
(Lead me on a pathway to the core)
Paralysed - Staring through the shadows on the wall
(Unable to solve this puzzle box)
The journey's long, the shadows dance around
The answer lies beyond the fourth wall
My future days are etched into my skull
Hanging ever by a tethered body, mind and soul
Parasite - Leech upon the guilt from all my wrongs
(Lead me on a pathway to the core)
Paralysed - Staring through the shadows on the wall
(Unable to solve this puzzle box)
Truth or deception? I lose all perception inside
A fleeting sense of self worth evaporates into nothingness
A tepid grip on myself melts away to oblivion
Shadows on the wall dance around
Reflections in the amber to be found
A puppet on a string soon unwound
The truth inside the cave soon to be unbound
The path beyond the mountain led me here
The answer crystallised in history
But now the cracks of time begin to show
We lift the veil on what the future holds
The torture of entrapment ever grows
And now I'm waiting for the afterglow
A beast inside of me awakening
Alas the consequences of my sins
Shadows on the wall dance around
Reflections in the amber to be found
A puppet on a string soon unwound
The truth inside the cave soon to be unbound
Parasites as thick as thieves
Paralysed my golden wings
Bouncing off the walls
Latent memories erupting
Pulling at the cord
Earth beneath my feet is trembling
Lightning cracks the sky
'Wakening the beast inside me
Rawness in his eyes
Reeking stench of fear and regret
Cause and consequence
Show me reverence
Fate or circumstance?
I feel severance
Lightning cracks the sky
Eyes intensify
I will stay trapped inside
How can truth set us free when lies are all we have?
How can time heal us when our days are running out?

Puzzle Box Lyric:
Latent memories forming deep inside of me
Dormant barren visceral senses now subdued
No escape. I navigate through my cave
Beneath the skin. They keep us in night and day
Parasite - Leech upon the guilt from all my wrongs
(Lead me on a pathway to the core)
Paralysed - Staring through the shadows on the wall
(Unable to solve this puzzle box)
The journey's long, the shadows dance around
The answer lies beyond the fourth wall
My future days are etched into my skull
Hanging ever by a tethered body, mind and soul
Parasite - Leech upon the guilt from all my wrongs
(Lead me on a pathway to the core)
Paralysed - Staring through the shadows on the wall
(Unable to solve this puzzle box)
Truth or deception? I lose all perception inside
A fleeting sense of self worth evaporates into nothingness
A tepid grip on myself melts away to oblivion
Shadows on the wall dance around
Reflections in the amber to be found
A puppet on a string soon unwound
The truth inside the cave to be unbound
The path beyond the mountain led me here
The answer crystallised in history
But now the cracks of time begin to show
We lift the veil on what the future holds
The torture of entrapment ever grows
And now I'm waiting for the afterglow
A beast inside of me awakening
Alas the consequences of my sins
Shadows on the wall dance around
Reflections in the amber to be found
A puppet on a string soon unwound
The truth inside the cave soon to be unbound
Parasites as thick as thieves
Paralysed my golden wings
Bouncing off the walls
Latent memories erupting
Pulling at the cord
Earth beneath my feet is trembling
Lightning cracks the sky
'Wakening the beast inside me
Rawness in his eyes
Reeking stench of fear and regret
Cause and consequence
Show me reverence
Fate or circumstance?
I feel severance
Lightning cracks the sky
Eyes intensify
I will stay trapped inside
Until the cells divide
How can truth set us free when lies are all we have?
How can time heal us when our days are running out?
There’s absolutely no doubt about it but ross jennings knows how to CRAFT a killer CHORUS ♥️

Derrick Schneider 🐔🐔🐔🐔🐔
3:30 - 5:18 - Ok, I'm gonna be blasted alive for this, but this section reminds me an awful lot of Telefon Tel Aviv, circa 2005.
Superb! Added to the Ever Metal TH-cam and October Spotify Playlists \m/
starting on 03:35 the song sounds like Perfect Dark from N64
Omar Muñoz Castorena I played the remaster on Xbox and I can see what you mean lol
Goddamnit! 2:59-3:26 hits real hard!
The Djent is strong in this one section.
Brilliant and versatile...love it!
Anyone notice the Crystal Wing (Crystallised) and the Midas Wing (Cockroach King)?
Where?
Too good.
Selon moi Haken a détrôné Dream Theater il est avec Leprous un des meilleurs groupes de métal progressif actuels !
Absolument
Best song.
This song gives me the creepz. And so nostalgic of a time i was not alive. Tesla.
5:34 Hey Vsauce Michael here
Got to meet and hang out a bit with them during the First Prog Cruise back in 2013. Awesome guys, awesome music. Just ordered the CD. Is it just me or does this song have a lot of their other music mixed in it?
¡HAKEN, nos vemos el 2019 en Lima!
No fui csm y me arrepiento en el alma
So many references in the papers !!! But the question is : is Dr. Tokias Rex the Cockroach King ??
