    Shows just how insightful, aware, and wise Mical was. Kreia used & manipulated all of The Exile's companions to an extent, but he was the only one she truly saw as a threat, not physically, but because of all the aforementioned traits he had he was the only one that figured out who she truly was & what she was doing. Others like Atton, Bao-Dur, and Mandalore knew something wasn't right about Kreia, but Mical was the only one that truly figured her out & what her intentions were, something even the jedi masters couldn't fully see or understand. That's why Kreia went out of her way to give Mical the extra special treatment & make sure she erased his memory of her to ensure that he wouldn't reveal who Kreia really was & what her intentions were until she was ready to do so. Really liked Disciple, most of the fanbase seemingly don't like him for some reason but he's really underrated. He had all those aforementioned traits & provided a lot of insight & input. He didn't just figure out Kreia, he also knew about the other problems plaguing the galaxy, like how certain planets were so interconnected & influential to each other, how Revan didn't want to totally destroy the republic, GO-TO knew this as well, but Mical knew that & he even understood & eventually totally figured out the wounds in the force & how they've caused lingering suffering as well as strengthened these shadow sith hunting them & the jedi. And how that these wounds are a threat to not just jedi, but to all life.

      On top of that he seem to be the only one that Kreia actually to some extend respected.
      Mandalore for her was a lotal dog.
      Atton, a fool
      Bao-Dur a machine like monster responsible for butchery of Malacore
      Visas a blinded one, both figuratively and lliterally with no courage or power to stand for herself
      Handmeiden naive tool
      Machines she was very dismisive of
      But him she actually respected, she allowed him to have his revelation and to remember who she was. She just saw his naivety as a one hindrance for a trully great man
      if Kreia respects someone that is a mark of trully special individual.

    Perhaps I'm the only one in the Galaxy, who likes Mical's character. I like Atton a little bit more, because his backstory, his tragedy is really heart-wrenching, but I like how perceptive and innocent Mical is. While Atton is a darker, complex, sad figure, Mical is like a child, who is not yet blinded by the pain he had to endure, and the battles he had to fight during his life. He loves and idolizes the Exile, but not dependent on her, so in many ways, I find him amazing. And it also shows something, that even Kreia is respectful towards him: even during the ending, she basically states her oppinion about the love triangle, and when speaking of Atton, she says that he has nothing to offer, that he is a fool, while speaking about Mical, she appreciates his love for the Exile, and only says that she can't take him with her. So yes, I believe there is more in this character, than what most people see.

      @Zoe Kin she wasn't a psychopath.. Kriea was just very logical with the conclusion she came up with. As an archivist she was very much in touch with the light side but the more knowledge she gained the more her own opinion to end the war between light and dark changed. She basically was what I believe to be the most neutral anti-hero of the series. Kriea's ultimate goal in the end was to destroy all use of the force. Not the force itself, but to cut everyone off from using it so that they could be free from the shackles that the light and dark side religions were putting on them. She basically used the dark side and the light side in the end as tools to reach the goal. I think her goal was probably the least sociopathic/psychopathic in the end. She cared about everyone.

    Alot of people i know don't like Mical, but honestly my first playthrough in the Jedi Enclave ruins and how terrible it was and unprepared I was, it was a nice reward finding him and honestly it was him that made me question the events of jedi and sith history and the eternal reccurence that the galaxy is stuck in with both of their existence. Kreia taught me much about personal strength and perception, values etc, but Mical was one that framed the dialectics of galactic history and its ties to the Force itself. I just liked that the character seemed unbiased in his research and was willing to look at the state of the galaxy a bit more objectively then most characters i had read, saw or played as in Star Wars. To me he is a very underrated character.

    I believe she masked her presence from the Disciple because, him being a historian of the Jedi (and a former member of the order himself), there's a good chance he would have been able to connect the dots and deduce Kreia's real identity. At one point, he even figures out the nature of her plot, only to have it erased from his memory through her force techniques. Disciple was too intelligent to be left to his own devices.

    Fascinating I’ve never encountered this cutscene. Kreia knew he knew... He was so open to the force... He could have stopped it all from occurring if he wasn’t such an open follower to the force. So force sensitive he figured out her plan then out of her own fear she wipes his fragile mind because she knew she could do it. Practically completely controlled by her.

      Well to be fair, he didn't find out her plan. He just figured out that there was something, an echo originating from Malachor, spreading out and bringing death. AKA Nihilus. She erased his mind of her identity since she couldn't have that come to light too soon. She says as much when you ask her about the Sith lords. She allowed him to keep his discovery of the echo however, and that's how he was able to show it to the Exile later on in a different cutscene.

    • @animore8626
      @animore8626 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@Badchi As far as I'm aware that was certainly a gamble she was willing to take yes. And if it happened I think she probably thought it was a better sacrifice than having the entirety of the galaxy swallowed up by a planet eater.
      I think Kreia was trying to think past that moment in time, and tried to think of the future. So long as the force was around, the galaxy was going to be CONSTANTLY under threat from people like Nihilus or Sion, or her. People like Sidious or the countless Sith that came from the line of Bane is after all a product of the Force's existence. You can't be corrupted by the Dark Side if there isn't a Dark Side, and there's only a Dark Side if there's the Force. If people died because of their connection to the Force being cut off, that is in her eyes a.) A lesson in strength (the part of her philosophy that is of course very disagreeable and very social darwinist) and b.) A necessary sacrifice to prevent greater tragedies from propping up from both the Force's will and the will of the people being controlled by it, i.e. the Jedi and Sith.
      It can be thought of as heartless and incredibly extremist, of course. But imagine, say, if you were in a situation like this in the real world, with a 1984 government that routinely sent thousands of it's people to die for "balance" or whatever whackjob reason. If you had to rebel against that system, "break a few eggs to make an omelette," wouldn't you? It's a hard decision to make, but in Kreia's eyes it's a necessary one to prevent future tragedies under the influence of the Force.

The arrogant apathy of the Jedi Council, caught up in their dogmatism and their mystic voodoo worship of the Force completely rejected any possibility of stopping the Mandalorian threat. It took Revan, Malak and the rest of the Jedi defectors to lead the Republic, and guess what the force gave them as a reward? Dark Side corruption. For wanting to save the Republic from impending doom via the hands of the Mandalorians, they got a bit too caught up in their emotions and the war and then poof! They got corrupted. (Of course in SWTOR canon it was the Sith Emperor who catalyzed that if you're into swtor stuff). That doesn't seem to be a very balanced ruleset. I feel like I'm one of the few who preferred Mical as a character to Atton. Mical was wiser than his years, and had the strength to act on his hope. He knew the Jedi were flawed, but also knew that the galaxy was better off with them, and that the best thing to do was to try and influence them to be better. Plus his intelligence and foresight into the grander scheme of events unfolding throughout the plot really intrigued me

    So basically, Mical actually realized, during this dialogue, that Kreia is in fact Arren Kae, Revan's former Master and a Sith Lord (/ Sith Mistress). That line, in which Mical says ''I know you... not even the markings of the Dark Side can hide it. Why have you done this?'', really suggests that Mical realizez Kreia is Arren Kae, who didn't die on Malachor V, but actually fell to the Dark Side and became a Sith. What Mical doesn't realizez is that Kreia/Arren Kae is both a Jedi and a Sith... and neither. She is the perfect psychopath, very similar to Palpatine/Darth Sidious.

    If you just got all companions, regardless of what sex you chose, then no one would have any issue with Mical. He’s a perfectly fine character, and is genuinely worthy of respect, for how he sees through things.
    But why, in the name of all that is sane, they ever decided to have certain companions be decided by what sex you choose, is beyond me. They were controlling Star Wars lore with these characters. It’s tragic to think that in the canon version of events, a potential companion just doesn’t come along because you’re not a man.
    Yeah, it would have been literally impossible to get all your companions to become Jedi, if you had one more, but f*ck it.
    That decision was always the one criticism I had of KOTOR 2, and it honestly prevents the game from being a 10/10, because it locks players out of very interesting character stuff, before they’ve even truly started the game.
    Like, what? They came up with 10 ideas for companions, but some arbitrary rule kept them from including all 10, to they had to make one not accessible, based on the player’s sex? That’s the only reason I could possibly think of. And in that case, the answer is simple:
    Get rid of Goto. He has no purpose, story wise, once you leave the planet you find him on. And his thematic relevance could also be neatly tied up, there. No one cares about Goto.
    One final thought: The fact that you can only get most companions towards the end of a planet’s main storyline, is absolutely another thing that keeps this game from being a 10/10. I get it, there are story reasons for why, but even if Obsidian had all the time they needed to finish this game, there still would not have been enough content to properly train all your companions to become Jedi. You would have needed two full planets to be added, that have no new companions, and plenty of opportunities for companions to state their feelings, to unlock the chance to train them.
    Because even with the restored content mod, that only gives you one extra planet, and it’s one that has half its main plot pushed forward by one of the droid companions. So it leaves no opportunities to unlock the chance to train anyone.
    Like, why would Developers spend so long, carefully crafting a narrative, characters, and all that, just to make it so no player could ever experience it all in one playthrough?
    I get adding content through New Game +, but adding replayability by actively cutting off the player from being able to experience all aspects of the story, is ridiculous.

      If you don't mind me asking. Why do you dislike philosophy?

    • @nappyheaded
      @nappyheaded 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don't like it because it makes arguments about things that shouldn't be an argument. For example a philosopher will ask a question like "should you save this person's life if he may be a child molestor or serial killer." You can't go around thinking about what a horrible person you may be saving is. If you can save someone from falling off a cliff you do it.

    • @PapitoQinn
      @PapitoQinn  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's a question (not an argument) that every philosophy student is asked and it always leads to the conclusion that you save them. You can't let someone go to their deaths because they might be something that you don't know about. But it's worth thinking about isn't it? That's what philosophy is, thinking about things. Everyone does it and don't even realize it. This question can lead to questions like: What if you KNOW for a fact that the person is a serial murderer?

    • @nappyheaded
      @nappyheaded 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      But I don't think you should create an entire discipline based on asking abstract questions. I took humanities 101 in community college and we touched about philosophy a little bit. I was thankful it was only a little. Going back to Kreia and video games. When I was younger I was good at playing video games. My friends and family would ask me to beat a boss or a level that they couldn't beat. I wanted them to beat it themselves and not have to rely on me or anyone else to beat it for them. Because I thought it would make them a better video game player if they beat it on their own. Fast forward many years I see Kreia say something along the lines of "let them take on their on struggles and when they conqueror them they will become stronger for it."

    • @PapitoQinn
      @PapitoQinn  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There you go. That in of itself is a philosophical deduction. You thought about it and concluded that it'd be beneficial, in the long run, for your fellow man to conquer the challenge themselves. This process of deduction in wisdom is something we decided to give a name, philosophy. It's just a classification. Like art. Art is not a measure of quality.

    Odd and possibly random thought but I believe Mical was intended to be Arren Kae’s (Kreia) son in the female storyline but that part was cut short due to cut content. One thing I’ve noticed in wiki that both Mical and Brianna were born on the same year (along with Visas but that’s irrelevant) but there’s more than that.
    How would Mical know Revans master, Arren Kae, when she was exiled before he came on Dantooine as a Padawan and right before Meetra went off to fight the Mandalorian War? Now he could have done his research, but one thing that was bothersome was how Kreia hid from Mical the most out of the female exiles group (also more than Brianna) and her saying “You know who I am, but you will be unable to voice it, to remember it” was unexpected unless they had some sort of connection beforehand.
    Another key is the way Kreia describes him and his future. Saying how he could have been much more after he had figured out the web of worlds.
    Though there isn’t much to say about Micals character, personality wise, it’s something interesting Kreia describes his future if the Exile takes the dark side path. How he would become a Senator for a planet and would cut ties with the Jedi code and the force entirely after being betrayed many times over. It’s as if Kreia wanted that for him because it’s not a complete evil/murderous choice like Arron and even Brianna, but something that would take off his wide eye innocence .

    Ok, I am thoroughly confused as to what Mical is understanding here. could someone explain this to me? (Yes, I have played Kotor 1 and 2) At first glance, it seems like he's detecting Nihilus, but as the discussion progresses it becomes more and more unlikely. So then it stands to reason that he's sensing how the Exile is a wound in the force...but that doesn't make sense either, because the Exile isn't the cause of the decay of Dantoine, Nar Shadaa, etc. So perhaps it's Kreia's schemes then since he asks her why she is doing what she is doing (and she was the one who trained Nihilus to become a wound in the force), but she laughs at him for thinking that she would be the one causing the "echo". But her response also doesn't make sense: she wanted to kill the force, which kind of involves (at least nearly) killing the entire galaxy. And then on top of that, it is never clarified what the "echo" is an echo of!! What is going on?!

    • @PapitoQinn
      @PapitoQinn  6 ปีที่แล้ว +22

      You were right all along, he was detecting Nihilus. No one can be trained to become a force wound. Or at least no one has been able to do it successfully. Kreia in a way was grooming the exile to become something that would inflict a mortal wound on the force, but that's another discussion. Nihilus became a force wound because he was on Malachor V when the Mass Shadow Generator was activated, but like the exile, he survived. The force itself dying doesn't necessarily mean that people will die. Kreia herself says in my video "Talents and Skills" that much can be achieved without the force. The people who may die are force sensitives. When Kreia 'drains' the Jedi, I believe that it's not so simple. She was draining them of the force, thus cutting their connection to it. The reason they died was because they refused to willingly give up the force. The Jedi were too afraid to lose their power, unlike the exile. When her connection to the force was going to kill her, she gave it up. But back to Mical. Kreia was impressed with him because he was able to discover the echo's existence, not just by using the force, but by also using his own deductive skills. The primary echo, was Malachor V, and echoes create other echoes E.G Nihilus, and the Exile. Then they go on to create echoes. Echoes by their nature are disconnected from our categorization of "good" and "evil". If the exile helped the community on Dantooine, that created echoes that would see the planet recover. If someone else came along and helped as she did, could you call that creating an echo? You could, although that can be questioned as: "Was that just what the force wanted?" Since we know it flows through everything and it can control people. If Revan had done it, then that's a different story. I believe that the force controls through its avatars of light and dark. Since Revan was neither one, the force couldn't control him.

      @sriramramesh5318 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for clarification, that helps a lot!
      Edit: I had another question here about how I didn't understand how Nihulus could've been a result of Malachor V but after some googling I figured it out. Thanks again

    • @PapitoQinn
      @PapitoQinn  6 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      You're welcome. Nihilus is basically the force sensitive equivalent of a crack addict. I think Kreia mainly wanted him dead because he betrayed her. The fact that he was gonna kill everything, was secondary. But that's what I think.

    • @Kraethas
      @Kraethas 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I disagree, theres little to no sound logic conflating nihilus's planet killings to the echo thats said to echo from malachor. Nihilus is almost certainly similar in terms of "sound" given he is also a force wound born of malachor 5.
      In another video the echo is still beating when the player arrives at the trayus core. I think its a concept thats not neatly tied together.

    • @PapitoQinn
      @PapitoQinn  6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Kraethas Right, he's a force wound born of the battle of malachor 5. Malachor 5 is not the echo. The echo was what happened due to the activation of the mass shadow generator. When they talk about echoes they're talking about cause an effect. In this case a major event in a universe where the force exists. Just like a 'real' echo, it creates other echoes. In this case, Nihilus, and the Exile being the earliest and most direct echoes created. They in turn will create echoes everywhere they go, and it grows exponentially. And of course the echo is still beating when the player reaches malachor, since the exile herself is one. She and Nihilus are two sides of the same coin. The same event created them both. The exile cut herself off from the force because the deaths around her would have killed her too. Nihilus survived by doing the opposite, feeding on the death around him.

Kreia's ideas, actions and philosophy should be studied, sure, but they should never - I repeat - NEVER be replicated in such a way she envisioned them. Her followers always claim that people like the Jedi are cowards for not accepting the truth, and while that's true, they as well are too cowardly to accept that she's essentially a psychotic woman in the end with her own selfish and fucked up desires disguised as someone who means well, which is a result of fans who become worshipers instead of actual readers and seekers of truth and objectivity as critics.

    • @PapitoQinn
      @PapitoQinn  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I wouldn't recommend becoming a carbon copy of Kreia in real life either, and technically neither would she. Just consider that every single human being who has ever lived and who ever will live manipulates people whether they realize it or not. Kreia isn't a psychopath, she's just someone who's very self conscious about how people affect others, and since she like everyone else, has goals, she'll do what she needs to in order to achieve them. Sometimes I think she goes too far. But where that line resides is for the individual to decide. Even if you don't believe that the force enslaves all living things, understand that that's what she believes, and she did everything she could to try and, in her eyes, bring freedom to the galaxy.

    In the end you get a stupid continuity error that Kreia, although a being of great power, can mask his presence in front of a by now probably Jedi Consular who has Force Sense strong enough to feel Nihilus from accross quite a few star systems.
    But eh.

      Philosophically and mentally Mical is a Jedi through and through. He wasn't trained to harness his force sensitivity at this point. However it wasn't his force powers alone that allowed him to come to the conclusion that there was something out there destroying life. He's working for the republic, he has whatever data they have. Combine his deduction skills along with his force powers he found the echo. Kreia has respect for those skills separate from the force. Kreia also may have mastered force concealment to an extreme degree or has a natural talent for it. Even if you bring her along to meet with Jedi masters, they remain oblivious to her presence.

      You might be right about Mical being somekind of covert detective agent. With the hole figuring out problems partially without the force thing.

      Correct, I mean Jedi masters on Dantoine were never able to sense her despite the close distance until she revealed herself before them and stopped them from hurting an Exile.

      but the echo he has find is in the form of the exile? or Nihilus destroying life?

      peterpkr Nihilus. Who himself is an extension of the echo that was produced from the events at Malachor V and so is the exile.

      Just like Kreia said a pittiful pawn of the republic that only follows the female exile because he has romantic feelings.

      His views might have been really naive, but considering he has arguably more understanding of the events than anyone except for Kreia herself, I do find it simply wrong to call him a fool.
      He's a boring introvert with too naive and idealistic views, sure, but he sure isn't stupid.
