Just want to say, I followed this video 100%, used the same bit with only a brushed 20v drill/screw gun. It literally cut through in 30 seconds! Thanks bro!!
Awesome share homie. I did not know Dawn dish soap could be used in place of cutting lube or 3-in-1 oil! I'm so glad because that'll make clean up MUCH easier than using messy oils. Thanks again! Post-project edit: it worked like a beautiful charm, thank you so much!
Soap: salt of a fatty acid and metal. Most cleaning product "soaps" are sodium based. Lithium soaps would be bearing and axle greases. Either way very poor thermal conductivity + far too thick making for a terrible cutting fluid agent. Even veg oil or even baby oil would be a far superior alternative. And won't need to wash a carbon steel tool in water afterwards.
I just drilled a third hole through a very thick 3/16" (5mm) Kraus stainless steel sink. I used a tungsten carbide tipped hole saw in a 12v Bosch drill/driver. Used water for cooling. Took a little effort but it drilled out cleanly. To remove any burrs I used an 8" half round 'basterd cut' (fine) file. Thought I was going to have to go over it with sandpaper, but it's smooth enough. I used a 1-3/8" (35mm) hole saw. Hope this helps. It answers the questions I had and it worked well.
Thanks for making this video! I plan to buy the same bit, but I have the cheaper corded Ryobi drill. Will that be OK? Will definitely follow the soap idea (was thinking it'll help lessen the amount of scrap flying out)!
Bro this is gonna save me some dough ! We have these weird one hole bar sinks at work that require a very expensive faucet , with this method I’ll be able to install a 2 hole bar faucet which is more common !
can you tell me what type of drill I need to use this bit? I'm a girl, I don't have extensive tools but I'm pretty handy at DIY stuff. I'm trying to install a reverse osmosis water system
Great tip. But, try not to use a hammer drill for the hole saw could be knocked off disengaging the drill bit although the product is labeled as impact ready.

Best most accurate way to cut a sink hole. Thank you!!!
Worked perfect. Saved $50 over a step down bit too! Thank you
I did this today. Similar bit and Dawn dishwashing soap ... super-fast, one brief jam and done in under a minute. Thank you!

This video should have millions of views!!!
Hi I’m a women and I have not clue how to do that. What the name of the hole maker and price please? To have any idea. Thanks for sharing 😊
That bit was impressive. That looks to be faster in stainless than a step bit.
Only use a step bit to de-bur the hole afterwards. Faster than filing, but near worthless for drilling.
Had trouble with lube not cutting, used soap done in less than two minutes Thanks
I’m real glad this video helped you out today!
Soap is cheap and non flammable

Nice job. Hopefully i can do the same on a new sink. I need an extra hole.
You sure can! But It will defeat the warranty on your new sink!
Thanks for watching
you did great overall but your speed was entirely to high slow it down and it wiil cut faster!
Yes! When drilling/ cutting metal slower speeds are necessary. If the bit is smoking you are going too fast
very helpful thank you jon
thanks! now i'm more confident doing it on my sink
Thx U sir. I have similar project this weekend. 👍
Sweeeeeeeeet man thank you for sharing I need to do this asap.
Nice job 👍
Dude impressive!
Thanks, now I know how to make mine.
Glad I can be of help! Do t forget to use the soap to lubricate it!
Thank for your video
Thank you 🙏🏼🙏🏼

Did you use a regular drill?
yes I did!
Fabulous! Ty
Dealing bit name please
Milwaukee shockwave hole saw 1 3/8 inches
Thank you !!
items needed- cheap hole saw & 1 bottle of soap
Awesome tip✌️
What is that drill bit called
What gauge stainless steel was the sink? 22 gauge?
Did that drill make a hole in the sink and counter that’s underneath it?
Theres no counter under. Just hole in the sink
Let me just wipe all these metal shards and liquid soap into the hole lol
perfect, thank you ;
Great Video it safe me $$ Thansk!
Good job.
Way to go
You can use oil (like coconut oil) which has way better properties to prevent smoking and heat haha
Great tip. But, try not to use a hammer drill for the hole saw could be knocked off disengaging the drill bit although the product is labeled as impact ready.
This works
No, thank YOU! :)
You did a good job, but your physics for using the soap is pretty flawed... Either way you got the job done so I guess it doesn't matter.
Soap was a dumb idea , use WD40
Tried it and it’s a fail!
