How to replace a water shut off valve under the sink
No Expansion tank?
Why not use the drain on the bottom of the tank? Dont get the gas valve removal, seems like a waste of time.
That flue pipe with 2 90° bends on it madness , so much restriction and possible failure to evacuate the flue products safely. In the UK we would tag that and make it at risk. Really affects the pull of the flue. The rest of the installation is shoddy at best , no finesse only focusing on the money not the job. The video should be " how not to install a water heater" 🤡🤡
@@actorlyric different codes bud, this is USA
Those flexible waterlines Janky😂😂🫣 you heard of a pro press I mean, I see you can solder, OK never mind I seen you’ve heard of pro press on the TMP side only. Not sure why you only use it on that side. I mean I’ve heard a few states I have to use flexible things I think for earthquakes if that’s the case makes sense, but other than that, if not, then I don’t know man I think you should really start using pro press
Why you don’t do vacuum breakers in usa ? I understand the expansion tank is “optional “ but the breaker?
Drip leg or sediment trap is wrong, Gas supply should always enter to top of a tee and your flex should come off the side of your tee.
@@Alan-n6u8b inspector approves all the time
That play by play commentary had me sold...
No expansion tank 😮
@@patrickstenkilsson5676 not required, no pressure regulator
You call that a beard?
Any tips to get steady work even for other trades?

Flex hoses 😂
Required by the State of CA
@SpeedyWaterHeaters that's crazy because of earth quakes?
Yes
Maybe put the heaters on some concrete blocks 3”x5”x3”so the metal always stays out of the water
“Bearded”
lemme hold that crimper for a day.....
Great to see copper coming out of the relief valve too many people using substandard material and thinking it's okay
heh, just like that eh?
Just like that
He probably should remove that drain valve and replace it with a straight-through ball valve so that sediment actually flushes out. I'm also not thrilled by pliers used on hex brass fittings because it messes them up.
Im so real, you need to figure out how to use a dolly to lower a water heater without using your back like that. Manual labor can be extremely rough if you have bad technique like shown in the video. Super cool plumbing work tho! I couldnt even hope to do something like that without it being my entire job
We like the press
You need a couple wrenches dropped into your day give you some real hard days. You got it too easy.
@@whatnowok there is some tough days, not all locations are easy access, some are a pain
No expansion tank?
@@nhmjku no pressure regulator, not required
wow even the valves are oriented correctly. legit
You do a very good job. You’re a great plumber man.
Thanks, I'm trying to make a difference in the world one water heater at a time.
Why plumbers insist on using ridgid water connections?. Flex connectors are easy to use for future replacement.
No zombie apocalypse straps?
No need for a second man NOW but take care of your back
Don’t miss leg day!
gas and unvented hot water storage is clearly under regulated in the usa
When i see earthquake straps i automatically know the plumber is gay. California=Liberal Losers
We are all Americans here
Wow that's clean work I'm definitely calling u guys 😊
Im very confused by the gas valve removal, i have replaced hundreds of water heaters and have never removed the gas valve.
I’ve replaced thousands easily in my 25 year career. Taking the gas valve off would leave you with 3-5 gallons of water still in the tank. Real plumbers use a transfer pump to drain a water heaters
@@Alan-n6u8b i have had great success with using an air compressor to get the water out. Faster than a pump and better.
We do not us transfer pumps unless in a basement And majority of hose bibs are plastic on old heaters
And you didn't wipe your solder joints ???
They were wiped down, hard to fit everything in 1 minute
for sure could of straighten that vent that look like shit
😢
You’re only allowed one 90 degree bend at the exhaust.
😴
Pipe going into the top of the coupling wasn't cleaned or fluxed!
The pipe was clean, the video is just zoomed in to show the details.

Interesting. Didn’t think of that, nice work
No way I would record myself cutting a gas line and post it on the Internet. Someone will do it with the gas on.
@@natepeterson7145 make sure to call a professional
@SpeedyWaterHeaters I don't need a pro.
No sediment trap on the gas line?
@@phillyphakename1255 look closely
@@SpeedyWaterHeaterswell there's your problem! Code states that you gotta put the gas flow perpendicular to the viewer to make the sediment trap obvious, so that you don't get comments from the internet. otherwise it looks like the gas is magically coming in from the floor.

Ouch your back. If anyone ever was a candidate for an exoskeleton, it’s you!
Why did he completely remove the gas valve?
Company policy to replace all gas valves Better safe then sorry
@@SpeedyWaterHeaters doesn't the new water heater come with a gas valve?
@@billyvance5053we're talking about the shut-off. Not the thermostat on the heater.
You can’t screw in type B vent it already has a locking mechanism. And sediment trap is also incorrect.
Per inspectors request in the city, it is correct, we do not make the rules
What state are you in ?
Screws in Bvent to Bvent connections are a no no. 😅

Lol newbies comments as long as it's not back drafting I think it looks great
Doesn't the stack need to be at a minimum of 45° angle or something like that?
Nope, as long as as there is a rise of 1/4 inch per foot you are good
Using channel locks for everything is killing me 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️ use adjustable wrenches and pipe wrenches and back your stuff up for Christ sake!!!
Sorry bub I was still green at the time and trying to record
Hector you're the Man- I come back to this video every 6mo when I'm replacing some valve in the house and I need to brush up on the steps.
You are only fixing part of the problem. That outlet has no cover and should be a GFI.
Tell that to the electrician
Can this be done if you dont have a garbage disposal?
