I agree with John about sleeping in the camper when at friends or family homes. You don't have to worry about inconvenience anybody when you sleep late or get up early. You can stay up late and watch TV while everybody is sleeping or you can go to bed early when everybody's not ready to go to bed.
We use truck stops. We pay the $10 to dump our tanks in the morning. The night before we fill our fresh water then park for the night. They almost always have potable water and the fill hose is far away from the dump hose. We're very cautious about that. Our grey tank is only 15gal so, after we each shower it's about full. Plus, washing up our travel mugs, coffee stuff, etc and we're full. We love having a daily shower and $10 is worth it to us. We also sleep in out truck camper at Family visits. They think we're crazy to stay outside but we LOVE having our own space! Happy camping all!
I’ve probably camped about a thousand days in my life.. I’ve probably spent about a $100 for fees. I’ve never had electricity, phone, or toilet. I’ve camped in the wilderness..in a tent..with a canoe. It’s the best, no people around for miles..
I really enjoyed hearing the two of you going back and forth with your comments! Reminds me of when I was once married... oh wait, make that twice married, and twice divorced. Hahaha... I'm still friends with both of my former wives even after they married terrific guys, and I remained single. I hope you two make your marriage last until you're very, very old and continue to laugh with each other. Never lose your sense of humor and always try to be the first one to say, "I'm sorry," when you screw up. Great video work. I'm looking forward to your next one.
Apple cider vinegar diluted in water makes great body cleaner, i like better than wipes..is antiviral, antibacterial.. no scent after it dries... odor neutralizer, etc.. cheaper...
Defenitely enjoyed watching you build God's house and on time! However, seeing the peaceful look on your faces from being back on the road spreading your wings is what I love the most. Thank you for all the great information you share. You are truly appreciated. May the Lord continue to protect and guide you guys and your vehicle as you travel. Much luv and prayers from Nawlins🙏💓🤗
We fulltime RV going on 5 years now and each year we spend several months in Thousand Trails parks, we campground host a couple of months at some state parks, stay in lower cost private RV parks for a week or more in some areas. We mooch dock for a few weeks throughout the year. The cool thing about that is my brother in law loves having us come out so much he put in a full hookup site on his land to encourage us to stay with them as often as possible. His wife cooks amazing dinners most nights and we almost always go up to the house for coffee in the morning with them. You can't beat it!
This makes me want to get come kind of camper rig and get out there. Thanks John and Mercedes for all the great info. (freedom, independence, adventure)
I'm a female who' camps with her hubby - we're both trained to protect ourselves with tools and we both bring with us. Thankfully, the state parks to which we camp have no issues - so far. I believe in being prepared to protect yourself and your family!! A plan is vitally important!!
Absolutely!!! Failure to plan is planning to fail! I like your “tools” we have several and won’t go to states that won’t allow me (and hubby) to protect ourselves with our ‘tools’. Happy travels!
If you stay in a truck stop look for RV designated parking spots usually in the front of the truck stop near gas pumps. Try to stay away from where the trucks are parking as not all truckers like to see RVs in their parking area.
We’ve done the same thing while traveling: Boondock in places you mentioned then staying in a campground to refill and refresh. We are in an old class B now without a grey tank so we are extra careful with how we use water and find safe places to dispose of it. We also use very small trash bags so in a pinch we can dispose of in fast food trash cans. Don’t like to, but sometimes you just have to. Solar has helped a lot to keep our devices charged and any quick emergencies. Just love it 😁
We enjoyed our recent stay at Thunder Canyon. We met several friendly campers . Just disappointed that we missed meeting you both. Hope to return and hope you had a refreshing vacation and visit with your families.
I took you advice and stayed at Walmart and Cracker Barrel on the way down to visit camp gratitude . Learn a lot from your videos, thanks for your time making them, love Peggy
Hi! Glad you all are having FUN camping around. Great info as always you guys share! Continue Happy Trails. I rented an Class C RV, Jan 1 2000 for a week. I drove it from the RV Rental lot in Orlando, to Fort Wilderness in Orlando! It was Fun living out of an RV. Safe, being in Disney, all amenities and the Theme Parks! I would love to do it again. I enjoy the outdoor living. Being by nature! Happy Mother’s Day Mercedes! Stay Happy! 👌👍😘
My first time watching your videos. I've watched several but THe rv we just bought off a private owner has water damage. Not from roof. So we won't need the guide til next year. Your campground is 15 hours but we could do it. It's on our list. Pray that the repairs to our camper are not going to break our pockets and that we are on the road sooner then later. God bless you, praise the Lord.
Happy Mamas Day Mercedes! Thanks for all the info! I’ve been watching you for years, and you guys gave me the bug to want to travel with my guy in an RV. So we now have our first lil’ camper and about to set off on our first ‘real trip’ to see the new granddaughter. (Did a 4 day test run 15 min from home). We haven’t invested in any memberships… yet. Perhaps we won’t need to as we’re not full timers. Love the free stuff in exchange for patronage of anyplace willing to allow a sleepover! God bless and hope to see you at Thunder Canyon soon! 🌼Lily🌼
Happy to hear that we’ve been able to help Lily. Congratulations on the new Rig! We’d love to meet y’all at Thunder Canyon some day. God bless and enjoy the adventure ❤️
Eventho I'm not a camper or RV'er I do love hearing about your information and honesty about both. Sounds fun but my adventure now is lived through your experiences. Thanks and God Bless
I LOVE Cracker Barrel! That's usually my go to when traveling. Ive also stopped places where I see trucks. I try to avoid Walmart because they've become more dangerous. I love my 32ft C-Class. It's just a few feet longer than the 25 ft - & don't have to use any slidouts when overnighting somewhere. (But the 25 ft is easier to drive!) Looking forward to hitting the road again later this year - God willing. Have fun & God bless!
Just signed up. We really enjoy you two. We love like minded people. We sold our fifth wheel and now only have our Northernlite camper. I’m good with that. We too love harvest host and boondockers.
I agree with everything you guys said. Although, if you camp in many of the Forest Service and BLM campgrounds in North Idaho, the ones that are out in the mountains, there are often quite hour rules. You have to be quiet from 10pm to something like 6am. And you cannot run generators during those times. The vast majority of these campgrounds don't come with utilities at the campsites. People have to basically boon dock. They do this so that you can truly enjoy the forest at night and there are still lots of people who camp in tents. But, it is so totally worth it. Some of the best camping we've done, has been in these spots. There is usually wildlife and gorgeous scenery. And, you usually find that your neighboring campers are friendly. And the campsites are huge compared to what you get elsewhere. Just some food for thought.
If you come visit us, you can mooch dock! We have two level spots - 30 amp connections, fresh water and with a long hose or mascerator (if you dont have one, you can use ours) you can take care of your waste water.
I confess I'm too cheap for Harvest Hosts. Even though I'm a member, I don't want to spend the money, and I'm self-contained enough to rarely need a camping spot 😊
Awesome video. Many great ideas. Yes...our rest stops are great for stopping in overnight now that the truckers use them too. Didn't used to be that way. Have a good rest of your trip. Looking forward to future trip adventures and updates
Hey my friends! Love that you all got away for a bit!! At your Baptism you both looked so worn out but excited too! Regarding travel with our rig; We love Harvest Host! Have used it a lot! The wineries are my favorite 😍 However the museums we have found have all been amazing stays! We stay away from Walmarts (bad experiences) , but we will do CB…… AND… I don’t have to clean the dishes Mercedes !! Though on the way back from NM to home in east TN during a massive storm in LA… we pulled off barely able to see through the rain to a Walmart! Prayed for the best🙏🏼 It was quiet which we had not seen in years. There was only one other RV. I found a Papa John’s on the other side of the huge shopping area…I called and explained that I wanted delivery but had no address😂. The manger looked out and saw us way across the huge lot. No a problem, SHE delivered it to us in her car!!! Such great service on such an awful stormy night. ❤️❤️❤️you two❤️❤️❤️ and my Sage too😘
We love most of those you talked about, except Walmart and Truck Stops. We do many Harvest Host and the reason is always I get a meal for the cost of a campground. After I say if traveling, I good with that!!! Enjoy, oh and we just visited the cave you guys will have in your next video. I hope you enjoyed it. We did!
Love your videos! We really enjoyed staying at Thunder Canyon last fall and plan to stay again later this year. Glad to see you relaxing and enjoying some camping.
We just got a tire pressure monitoring system on our RV...something new to learn, but last trip our passenger side rear duallies both blew...they were brand new...so...decided it was time to get something that tells us we have a problem before it gets too expensive. Also...make them put new valve stem extenders on when you get new tires! We think that was the problem.
We had new tires put on ours but they left the old valve stems and they all failed on the same trip. Bummed. We had to stop 2 places to change them. What is it with these tire shops. Now we know to tell them to change the stems and to check that they did it right. You'd think if they wanted return business, they'd do it without our needing to check up on them.
Thanks for the great information. We are planning to go full time this Fall and you guys help us "be real" in our expectations! Be safe, have fun out there!
Happy Mothers Day ! I Love my 25' Four Winds RV ! No slides or levelers, it's a small Strong Simple platform ! Hopefully we can Pray and Camp together at Thunder Canyon Soon !
I really appreciate the advice and information on living in a camper/motorhome while being untethered! I have started to think about how much better it would be to live in a camper, in case you need to leave due to a dangerous situation, where if you have a truck and trailer, you have to go outside and put yourself in a dangerous situation. We’re helping my mom with whatever she needs, while she’s living. But, we don’t own the property where we have our mobile homes on. My uncle does, and he wants us off after my mom dies. We’re living on SSI, so we won’t have any money to buy another house, therefore we will live like Gypsies, and I appreciate your advice and information!!❤
You guys are very like minded Americans. You are living our dream. When my wife retires in 5 and 1/2 years we are buying an rv (small one) and taking off . I am 63 and already retired so been Motorcycle camping with all my free time. It will be nice to step up. We will need excellent air conditioning , shower and toilet separate, walk around murphy or regular queen bed prefer a king but you know, solar panels, adequate fresh, gray, and black tanks, and a back up camera. All this under 5000 pounds so out Toyota Highlander can pull it . 😅
Hi! I just KNEW you’d love a class-C! Told ya so! Anyway, thanks for all of those freebie cap sites. I knew some of them, but was really surprised with some, like shopping malls. In California, UNFORTUNATELY, most or those are a no-go now. Really sucks…even Bass Pro Shops/Cabellas and most rest stops here do NOT allow overnight camping. I think it’s because so many try and take advantage and stay several weeks instead of just overnight. Plus, people leaving trash and dumping their tanks on the concrete! Some people are soooo disgusting. YES! Harvest Hosts are great! In 2022 we stayed in Denver (a winery) and in Palisades, also a winery. Nice, quiet and safe. I am LOVING IT that you’re back out on the road again, having fun! Your NEXT thing to do is get your entire roof filled-up with solar panels! What a difference it will make for you when you are off-grid. We now have 600 watts instead of just two hundred. I can use my hairstyler! Yay! Anyway, love you guys, have a wonderful time with the family, and be safe! Love, Virginia 🩷
I can relate with breaking off the sewage connection. My first long distance mooch docking, backed up into their drive and hit the driveway at an angle loud crunching noise. Quick trip to supply storm rebuilt it on the spot. I have used almost of those locations several times. When you announced your trip I was expecting a call. Yeah we would have been an hr out of your path, but you could have stayed with us full hookups. LOL.
Love you guys & great to see you back out there for an adventure!! You’ve dedicated sooo much to thunder canyon . . It was time for a little break!!! ;-)
I stumbled upon you guys and it is so refreshing! Sorry, we did buy our camper from Camping World and it was a great experience. Conway, New Hampshire. We have a 28' Keystone Cougar 5th wheel. We are taking my first trip driving to Montana. My husband is from there so he has traveled from the east coast to MT several times in different ways. Learning about Boondocking etiquette is so important for sure~! We do have solar panels on our roof, but do have a very quiet generator. I'm thankful for all your information! Wow so many links! Thank you for being you!
New Subscriber here. We don't camp anymore cause my husband doesn't like to be away from home. But you make me want to camp again! I'm going to keep asking. Great channel!
Cheap, yep. I pay $15/night at COE campgrounds, some state and some national campgrounds by using my Senior America the Beautiful membership card. It also gives me discounts at camp stores, and free admission to national parks.
I saw another site that put magnets with large hooks to put on your stairs outside and hook your shoes on them especially if they are wet or sandy, they are outside drying and off the ground.
I just use a plastic bin with a lid. Set it right by the steps, if you get a good one, shoes stay dry and, free of bugs😮. I also have a pair of cheap water proof flip flops that I keep by steps, for those just stepping out for a moment times, rain doesn’t matter and I can see critters in em. Really cuts down on the dirt tracking inside, and is one more thing that stores outside so more room inside. Just be aware depending on where you are staying easy to steal to.

Really great information!

Exactly John!
You guys seem a lot happier on the road.

They needed to take a break!! So happy they got away❤️

Safer to quickly pull the gray to make sure the hose is tight, close and pull black.

Though on the way back from NM to home in east TN during a massive storm in LA… we pulled off barely able to see through the rain to a Walmart! Prayed for the best🙏🏼
It was quiet which we had not seen in years.
Great info! Thank you for sharing!
That must have been scary and a pain. Always have tpms! Glad y’all are ok and absolutely get new metal stems. Thank you for all the support
I love our Rv The conveniences of having your own piddle bucket available Wherever you go What a relief NO pun's intended.😂😂😂
THE HEATHS
We love it! Hello Heaths 👋
Yes most happy or just a break Enjoy the Happy outlook Best wishes for them Indeed
Thanks for the great information. We are planning to go full time this Fall and you guys help us "be real" in our expectations! Be safe, have fun out there!
Great job from my favorite RV channel. Appreciate you all and your Christian witness. Press on!
Happy Mothers Day ! I Love my 25' Four Winds RV ! No slides or levelers, it's a small Strong Simple platform ! Hopefully we can Pray and Camp together at Thunder Canyon Soon !
Love ours too! We’d love to see y’all. God bless
I enjoy your vitality when talking about RVing!
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and making us laugh!
Blessing to your family. 💕🚐
We really needed some rest and laughter 😆
Great information! Thanks so much for creating the video.
You certainly did tell us that we would love the class C Virginia! California is a mess.
@@RVOddCouple you got THAT right! (CA is a MESS!)
@@virginialemm864 Be careful out there Virginia. Love John
Appreciate the free overnight parking tips. Very helpful.
LOL.
We may have to stop by some time Aaron😀
Great to see you back on the road. We love the free camping let us know when you are headed back to thunder canyon ❤
Happy Mother’s Day Mercedes, I hope your day was beautiful! 🌺
Thanks so much

Love you guys & great to see you back out there for an adventure!! You’ve dedicated sooo much to thunder canyon . . It was time for a little break!!! ;-)
Thank you Joy❤️ We have really missed being out on the road.
Dry camping is a great way to cut costs. We love harvest host and ACOE sites.
I am not an RVer, but I enjoy your videos!
Awesome! Thank you!
So happy your having fun👍🏾👍🏾
We love you Cher🙏❤️
Thanks for sharing your experience with us
You guys are so real. Love it and you provide great information. I’m so glad you know Jesus.
Thank you so much for this guide! So helpful.
Yup - heard that Yankee accent "5 stars"...Stay safe and have a blast! Rick & Sharon
Hi Rick and Sharon❤️ Don’t talk about my Mutha like that🤣😂🤣
@@RVOddCouple lol - we are Yankees too!
Entertaining and informative. Thank you both!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I've stayed at casinos in Oklahoma and Texas that are free full hookup but you need to patronize the casino. I go get a pizza or burger etc.
Great info. Thank you! Be safe!
Thanks for the tips. We boondocked for the first time last weekend. Definitely different from our normal glamping but in a good way.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us.
New Subscriber here. We don't camp anymore cause my husband doesn't like to be away from home. But you make me want to camp again! I'm going to keep asking. Great channel!
Glad you are at it again…. Missed it
We all have really missed it!
Cheap, yep. I pay $15/night at COE campgrounds, some state and some national campgrounds by using my Senior America the Beautiful membership card. It also gives me discounts at camp stores, and free admission to national parks.
Great tip!
I saw another site that put magnets with large hooks to put on your stairs outside and hook your shoes on them especially if they are wet or sandy, they are outside drying and off the ground.
Yes except when it’s raining
I just use a plastic bin with a lid. Set it right by the steps, if you get a good one, shoes stay dry and, free of bugs😮. I also have a pair of cheap water proof flip flops that I keep by steps, for those just stepping out for a moment times, rain doesn’t matter and I can see critters in em. Really cuts down on the dirt tracking inside, and is one more thing that stores outside so more room inside. Just be aware depending on where you are staying easy to steal to.
Happy Mother's Day
❤️❤️❤️
