THANK YOU! Oct 2022 I hit my goal of 66 pounds lost. The loss came from me having potatoes and oatmeal free. I tried the changed plan in November and was miserable! Always hungry and found myself gaining weight back! So I reversed back to my original PP plan and I don’t count those again. I am maintaining my loss now and much happier! I also never count my sauces, the powdered creamer, the sugar free powder packets I add to my water, and never ever tracked my all fruit smoothie I have often. You have to adjust to works for you and keeps you in the plan. I freaked out when the potatoes change came about and thought I had to count them to be true to the plan. But in the end, I found being 90% on the plan is better than returning to my unhealthy habits and made myself ok with it. Side note- I don’t like corn, cottage cheese is not even allowed in my home, I seldom have popcorn, and I don’t do yogurt much if at all. The free add backs did not equal out for me. Moderation and awareness is what is important. This isn’t a diet, it is a lifestyle and you have to be able to sustain it by making it custom to you.

I think for sustainability, we all have to find the things that make our journey enjoyable and maintainable. I also don't count most condiments unless they are really high pioint. I also have a dessert once a week of whatever want that I don't track. I've lost and maintained a 150 pound wt loss for almost 15 years including after having two babies. I love your honesty and great example of how to make wt loss enjoyable and sustainable!

wow really on the dessert? i love that! i might do that maybe once a month or something. sometimes i eat a few m&m's i do not count lol. one day i was on the hunt for a candy bar and i was alarmed at how high the points were. so i looked up what goes into a candy bar and ummm WW is wrong on that calculation! i think sometimes they just stick a number next to something they do not want us to abuse lol!

Re Activity Points: I have always regarded them as “money in the bank”and never counted them as extra points for food. I agree that this is where, if you don’t measure something, exactly or you forget something, it gives you that cushion of flexibility and will keep you on track.

Thank you for the "not tracking the blended banana!" I struggled with this and actually found myself making the shakes and eating the banana! Then I looked at the "nice cream" recipes that are 0 points and I couldn't figure out what the difference was. So I track the soy milk and the protein powder, and skip tracking the banana. It's the only fruit I add, and it just made more sense.

I think people have to work the plan however it works for them but when they start not tracking lots of foods and they quit losing they need to relook at what they are eating. That’s when some people say that WW doesn’t work. Love your channel

Thank you Nikki! I don't track fitness points either. Some rules that I break... I don't count my full-fat Greek yogurt. I try to go back to the 0% but I end up eating loads more to feel full. Instead I just enjoy a smaller amount of the regular yogurt that tastes better to me. And I allow myself to have one square of extra dark chocolate in the evening if I'm feeling like it. It keeps me on track with sugar cravings so I'm not reaching for other things throughout the day. I think you definitely have to make the plan work for you!

I completely agree with you!!! I put a cup of strawberries in my smoothie, I would eat that same amount so I track it as 0 points. I do count dressings, but I don't count ketchup or oils and butter I cook with in small amounts. I only use avocado or olive oil, which are the healthiest oils. Once I learned that others were doing this, I felt much better about doing WW this way. I feel they focus on low fat even when some fats are good for you. This program should be personalized, we learn to live with ourselves and our choices.

  • @LovelyLenaB

I lost 30 pounds not counting avocado, blended fruit or ketchup. So I definitely think people have to do what works for them. The times that I’ve tired to be super strict on WW I’ve ended up off track from getting tired of feeling too restricted. The times that I was too relaxed I gained from not being on track enough. There definitely has to be a balance and finding that sweet spot can vary from person to person. I think getting in some kind of movement helps when deciding to track less things like sauces can they can add up if you’re a sauce lover like me 😅

thank you for being transparent and sharing this! Last year when i could have potatoes for 0 pts and count a point for water, I did great. So after a few months on the new plan and getting hung up on not having enough points at the end of day because i ate a potato or could no longer count my water, i went back to what works for me. I do not abuse potatoes so i do not count them and i struggle to drink my water and that extra point is a huge incentive! i just deduct it from something that is 1 pt etc so it comes off my total for the day. I never counted vegees for extra points, although that can really add up and give you some cushion if you need it. I also only count 1 point for exercise even if i get 3 or 4. never counted fruit, i mean either i am going to chew up or the blender is, so what is the difference lol! i do not abuse fruit, but could see how eating too much could stall you. My weight loss is super slow, but very steady. I average about 5 to 6lbs a month and I am absolutely ok with that! i have struggled with yoyo dieting for years. WW keeps me level and I find it helps me with being more mindful of what i am eating, not just how much. Nikki, you are hands down one of my most favorite people!

I started not tracking my zero point foods after I saw a video of yours which I now really appreciate! I didn't realize how tedious it was adding every vegetable into my tracking when I am trying to get more vegetables into my diet! I also don't add additional points for exercising. Like you, I just view it as a bonus. I don't drink alcohol a ton, but if I do I pick a lower point option and just count it as a wash with my activity points.

This is my 4th and FINAL trip on WW -59 now! And I never did use activity or weeklies, but like you I don’t track blended and figured that probably evened out. The other reason I didn’t track/use the activity and weeklies is because if I missed or undertracked when eating out that it would cover those instances as well. It must be working which I feel is what is most important in the end and if I stop losing I’ll adjust! I do track most sauces, but I’m hit or miss with them. 🎉 you are a true inspiration to doing what is sustainable!

Hi Nikki, I had great success with WW blue plan. Lost 38# in less than one year and I’m in my mid 70s. I met my goal of 154. A few days ago I quit WW. Today I was offered a free month. I rejected their offer. I started with the old blue plan. I loved the “ how was your week and plan for the next week”. I tracked religiously, so I could earn a little gift for tracking. I wasted the last 2 yrs with Personal points and whatever the “simpler” plan is now. So why did I just watch your video, because you have kept me going. I’ll always watch and continue to follow you. You kept me going. Thank you dear, Nikki 🩵💚🩷

I lost 65 pounds on WW and have kept it off for the last several years. I use/eat my activity points, but I have found that I don't earn very many points for activity because I use my Apple Watch (it's rare to get more than 1 or 2 points for my weights workouts or walking 2 miles each day). When I don't use my Apple Watch, and instead manually enter activity, the WW app gives me way more activity points, so I don't trust that.
I don't count my blended fruits either. And I have a couple random small things I've never tracked - just like you. I kind of like the idea of not tracking low-fat/low-cal sauces in exchange for not using activity points; I might try that! Thanks!

  • @noop5_plans

I also don’t count my blended fruit. I sip on my smoothie all morning and it keeps me full until lunch.
I never count my oil or butter that I use either. I never go over board and just use enough to get the job done.

What has also been a pain for me is to track each ingredient in things like casseroles/stir fry meals etc. I mean track the salt? Track the spices? Track the noodles? Track each veggie? Track liquids...ahhhhhh! So I hear you loud and clear. What I think is true is a common phrase one might hear: "You cannot outrun a bad diet". So my focus needs to be on portion control and which foods that seem to 'trigger' me - once I start I cannot stop. Potato chips...I don't eat those any longer because I LOVE them. But once I get started, I cannot turn the craving off. So now, I have found a super yummy hummus from Aldi (roasted red pepper) and I have cukes and bell peppers in my house. I snack on that instead. I do track my water b/c I need to make sure I get it in.

*So many* great tips in this! I do a lot of these things too. It’s the only way I’ve been able to keep going, esp mentally. I figure that if a banana a day keeps me a away from a pint of ice cream a day, then yay daily banana and hell no I’m not gonna track it. No one’s gotten fat or had a heart attack from one banana a day. 😂

I am with you on smoothies and not tracking zero point foods! I always track my exercise though. I use a chest strap and auto import the workout in. It helps me actually be more objective on my intensity and when I need to refuel. For example, I ran for an hour this morning. I had some max effort pickups and finished strong. I might have been tempted to manually enter the workout at high intensity, which would have given me 9 points. My tracking showed it at medium intensity though, and gave me 7. It actually keeps me in check.

I actually quit WW because I found myself restricting too many foods that were higher points or obsessing about how to have zero point foods all day to allow points for like beef, hamburger buns, potatoes, etc. I'm not bashing WW. I think it's a great plan that works for a lot of people. It just wasn't for me. But I still love your videos because your foods are healthy and work with calorie counting too. Thank you Nikki. I totally agree that it's good to tweak things to make it work for you. A bit of a background I'm 70 now but 13 years ago I rejoined WW. I had been a member since 16 on and off the plan yo-yo dieting my whole life. In 15 months I lost 115 lb and have kept it off ever since. I am still following the points program from 2009 and I do eat a lot of fiber ( I have become a vegetarian) I do not count zero point foods and I also have never counted my activity points although I do have a Fitbit and track steps for myself personally. It's funny after all these years I have never changed every couple of years with the different programs they have come out with and I just stuck with what worked for me it's still working and thank you for sharing. I’m with you Nikki, I don’t track my activity either. Mostly because I had a janky smart watch for a while that was never accurate 😂 but even with the upgraded one I just got I find it to be an extra thing for me, I primarily use WW for the food/nutritional part. I also don’t track my water but I know I’m good on that cause I have a large insulated bottle that is easy to know I’m hitting those goals. The one thing I do differently from you is I track everything, including zero point foods. I do it mostly for my own records though and helps when I look back on the create a recipe/meals section, helps me for when I make meal preps and other stuff I eat often, so makes it easy to track those quickly.

I was hoping you'd address the blue dots? That's the one thing I pay absolutely NO attention to. Former WW coach here and I've seen people get so crazy over those things. If you eat well, work out, etc. and you are eating weeklies appropriately and as provided on the program on any given day you might sacrifice that stupid 'blue dot' even though you've followed the program appropriately, have a special event or have had a hard workout and need or want to use those weeklies. So not eating earned or allowable points just to see that blue dot I always feel sets you up for restriction.

I would just like to say that I track calories but I don’t track things like low calorie vegetables or low calorie fruits. I probably track 100 calories less than I would if I had tracked all the low calorie stuff I eat in a day. So you can do similar things with calorie counting, skip counting the minuscule stuff and allot for that.

There are some fats that I consider healthy fat that I wish weren't so costly on the Weight watchers program like avocado and olive oil. I track them but I lower the points (by decreasing the serving size in the app) because I want my body to benefit from the nutrients they provide. Also for some reason I can't stand lower-fat dressing so I just use regular dressing at decreased amount and try to spread it out with oil or vinegar. I would rather have the points of the full fat. I guess we'll see if I'm sabotaging myself. I'm newish to w.w.

This was helpful. I also don’t count my sugar free creamer. I only have it once, maybe twice a day and it’s 1 pt for 3 tbs so I just don’t count it. I was happy to hear about smoothies. I don’t count the fruit in mine either

I never count my activity points, I look at what I have on the app, just to see how much activity I'm getting, but in my food journal (I'm an old school paper tracker) I only count my weekly points.

I don't count my collagen powder. Ever. I don't track my zero point foods. The only time I did, was when we got points for vegetables...you can best believe I was diligent then...LOL. When I went to the gym (like a good girl) I found that tracking my exercise was kinda nuts, because it seemed so arbitrary. ANYWAY...all that to say that I do what works for me, too.

I’m having the hardest time. Been doing ww forever. I’m not loosing right now 😢I’m a compulsive binge eater. So hard to break that habit! How do you control it? Do you have cheat days or meals?

    • @Marie0304
      @Marie0304 ปีที่แล้ว

Are you still finding that you are bingeing while on WW? Nikki has some videos where she talks about making lower point snack bowls with a base of plain popcorn for 0 points and adds in 1-2 points of various other salty and sweet snacks… Bowls end up being around 6 points or so. Says it helps when she wants variety and to snack. Also she and her hubby go for sushi 1 day a month at an all-you-can-eat place and they track around 40 points for that… but it’s planned out. I think it takes time, practice and consistency. I quit going to fast food places in early June when I recommitted to WW. I’m 50. I’ve done WW off and on too many times to count since I was in my mid-20’s. The key is really consistency and finding what works for you. It takes time to break habits, right? Give yourself grace. Bulk up meals with pre-prepared veggies like Nikki does- bell peppers, mushrooms, onions, zucchini (or things you like!) - this tip is such a game changer! We do this once a week, put these veggies in a bowl in the fridge and cook up for breakfast with eggs or add to dinner or salads. It’s so flavorful and filling. I see Nikki often cooks her veggie mix but we keep raw. A great filling sweet snack is plain fat free Greek yogurt with some flavored protein powder added to it… add frozen blueberries and whatever topping you might like… chopped nuts, granola or small 2-point serving of crushed cereal for a crunch. I mean… keep watching Nikki’s videos for inspiration. That’s what I’ve done for the past couple of months. So inspiring. You can do this. Stay CONSISTENT. ❤

I do basically the same as you except I do use my activity points. I don't really think that matters though because to get "a blue dot" you can go over your daily points by 10. The only thing about that is I'm not in the negative with my weekly points. I also don't track any blended fruit. I don't really do smoothies, but if I did I wouldn't track the blended fruit.

I’m on maintenance and started WW a few months ago. I just don’t like it! I follow an everything in moderation life and this punishes me for fats or any sugars. I don’t want artificial sweeteners. I also track calories because I felt so hungry and found out I was only at 1400-1500 calories and I need around 1800. I’m going to see what I can do to make the app usable since I have it until the end of the year. Love your videos!

I was struggling at first, as I started out on the green plan and got really discouraged when they switched to the Point system. I kept going back and forth from the diabetic plan and regular. I'm not a diabetic, maybe borderline. I just missed the Green Plan. I kept tracking and measuring things. I do track the Zero point food , as a sense of accomplishment, lol, but not the blended fruit. Everything else, I do count as I can just pour it on, and go overboard! I only use my weeklies if I know I've done honest tracking. But yea I miss the water point, also! I'm loosing a little bit of weight now each week!
