To any potential buyer, this car is a gem. The best polo gti ever made in my opinion. I had the privilege of driving a new one back in 2015 courtesy of my sister. Having driven this car for 2 years plus I can definitely say vw was on God level when they made this car.
Have owned this gem for 4 years now. Lets just say i am struggling to get rid of it even though i work from home fulltime. Only gripe i have is the smaller boot than the tsi and the firm suspension, maybe im fussy and reason im saying that is coz my moms wants me to give her the car when i upgrade (mind u she has back problems but still doesnt mind it so…). Fuel is not that different for me from my previous 1.2 tsi. Plus minus 1.5 l per 100km from tsi consumption really. Never had any of the claimed dsg “issues🤔”. Starting to feel like those forum queries only came from people who don’t actually live with the car. Then its the looks… everyone loves the looks! Gents & ladies. just look at it next time u see it, then tell me if u look at the new polo gti’s as long😅I cant step away from the car without looking back at it😍. And ofcos its got great push on the road. Love it. Took mine ‘Tiffany’ everywhere - Limpopo Mpumalanga and Kzn multiple times. My advise - just go for it. Find a good one - just not mine😂 not letting go of mine😅
@@nokocambelngoasheng9279 the floor of the boot in the gti is raised to accommodate the battery which has moved from the front to underneath the boot floor. Together with bits for the spare wheel this setup takes a bit of space and means the boot floor is raised compared to the tsi. Something like 40litres difference. I think tsi is 280litre boot space
This is a machine, mine is on 160 000km and it’s just start and go, the only parts replaced is the water pump and the turbo, it comes with IS12 and I’m now using IS20 (golf 7 GTI turbo) the car is a gem ❤, just start and go, it is so reliable, fun and addictive… never had any issues with the gearbox (DSG)
Had mine for 7 years, its 8 years old, done pcv valve, thermostat housing, going to do lower control arms and engine mounts this month. Did all work myself. its served its purpose.
Cousin of mine had this car brand new 2016 in it’s time it was so fun and fast and had a real Mini Cooper jcw feel to it. But after some time the dsg box was problematic, warranty finished at 45,000km and the megatronic gave up and they wanted R100k to replace it. My honest opinion, don’t buy a second hand sports car! Thanks for the review brother I agree it’s still the nicest Polo GTI ever made.
DSG engines are problematic when they get older, especially performance cars. You must get an extended service plan or maintaince plan for the DSG engine because it's expensive to fix.
@@lesediseemela9856 had an extended warranty brother, but Vw said that the Megatronic was part of wear and tear just like brakes, electronics and lights. So that was not covered under warranty hence the R100k asking price to fix it but to be fair he was a vrrr phaaa fanatic 😂
This one is the 6C model the 6R had major issues with the megatronic and turbos/ supercharger. Never had anyone with a megatronic issue on the 6R could be one of those lemons that your cousin got.
I have the same model. 2017, 80.000KM , same colour but fully speced. So has the factory fitted review camera, SPORT button and climate control in addition to the one shown in the video. Love my car man! This shape is a legend! My GTI's name is Olivar....the car!!!! :-) Love it!
Congratulations, I’ve never driven that car to be honest , but I love the look of it , especially those front lights , but I’m working on reviewing it very soon.
I am a owner for 2 years now. It is a very good car never had any problems with but I must say R338K it is a bit steep yes they are rare but NO. I will also recommend that if you are to consider the car get a warranty could save you a lot of headache if you are to have problems particularly with the Gearbox.i.e Megatronix, clutch. Also fallen victim to theft of headlights so check where you park ....
From this side, having owned these two cars, they are incomparable, its hard to pick one over the other, each one has its own character and it is best at it. If it was up to me, i'd have them both at the same time.

Hi from australia. I have the 2016 manufacture year 2017 polo. As I prefer manual. It is my first car I have purchased brand new. It's a great car. Would love a GTI though. Hopefully when things get more normal we can start getting manual's again
It’s an honor knowing that someone outside South Africa watches the channel aswell , thanks for the comment Kim , on our side the current Gti is not available in Manual at all, you can still get it on regular Polo Models , but people seem to be shifting towards the automatics because of the crazy traffic on our highways.
Clueless kid , I personally wouldn’t recommend the mk6 Golf R since it is a much older performance car , and because it’s a performance car it was most likely driven hard and might become a maintenance headache for you going forward , but whichever car you go for make sure it has a complete service history and you buy from a reputable dealership.

I drive the same car this is the best car it’s got the looks and power I enjoy it as long you are not abusing it you will have a good relationship with it, cause to maintain it, it’s can be very expensive I don’t want to lie go to any VW they will tell you my advice have a maintenance plan if you know what’s good for you.
Yep, the dry clutch version(dq200 gearbox) is the one with the problems but apparently there a new organic solution they put in them to prevent the failure
@@bulelanikatleho3523 yes sir...these engines are very reliable as they are pretty much the same motors found in the mk7 GTI/R/S3. The gearbox can easily last you +100 000km so long as you don't abuse the car all the time especially if it is tuned!

Sounds like you want a gti , to avoid complications and affecting the car’s future resale value , since you say ujimile rather take the money you would have spent on the 1.8 Gti Engine and brakes , go to a dealership and trade in the 1.4 Polo you have and add the money you would have spent on the engine as a deposit and get yourself a real Polo Gti.
New one is not nearly as exciting, and the electronic interface is a hard pass from me. The AW is the only one to compare with the 6C, both are excellent to drive. I'm going to soften the suspension a tad on my 6C, and I have had DSG and water pump issues, so maybe the AW is the way to go if it escapes some of those drawbacks? I still think the 6C is the best-looking of any modern GTI.
Remember that they just assemble the parts there only hence the price ,unlike polo Vivo 1.4 (trend and comf) except 1.6 and gt (all turbo charged models basically) they are just assembling the parts in RSA not really manufacturing
Easily the best polo GTI ever made. It is also just as fast as the newest polo GTI, infact slightly quicker if both are tuned mod for mod. I have had mine for just over 5 years now from brand new, engine is very reliable as it is pretty much the same as the one in the mk7 GTI , R and S3 Gearbox is also very good just a bit limited with the amount of torque it can handle, the clutch will quite likely need to be replaced if you are running an aggressive tune with high torque (+340nm) and drive the car very hard all the time.
im yet to learn more about pricing but R339k for 60k km's is too much in 2022... for a car that launched 6 years prior for R328k and R350k for full spec
It's a unique Volkswagen. Here they did not do a mistake. But the AW looks like a Hyundai i20. And the latest polo is a bit somehow for some people. But most people adore this special/specific polo

That's an honest review. VW has a serious problem with mecatronics. Buyers should worry if the mileage reaches a certain milestone.

i think there was some problems with DSG ( dry clutch ) on this polo so they changed it for the new polo gti that came in 2018 ( wet clutch )...
VW test teams are very complacent nowadays. The new face-lift GTI has software problems. People will end up getting tired and opting for other brands.
