It was and is absolutely incredible to see this at the pan and it is also amazing to see how nervous it was

Wonderful! It was very nervous, which I guess is to be expected if it isn't familiar with that waterhole. What a lovely surprise for all!

A little caution there, but perhaps, it will slowly become accustomed to this water point and join us a little more frequently! What a beauty!😍

"Gregarious animals, hartebeest form herds of 20 to 300 individuals. They are very alert and non-aggressive." Wondering why it was alone.

Hartebeests are bovids that comprise the genus Alcelaphus, there are two extant species of hartebeest, the Northern Hartebeest (Alcelaphus buselaphus) and the Southern Hartebeest (Alcelaphus caama), the Northern Hartebeest (Alcelaphus buselaphus) has five recognized subspecies: the Swayne's Hartebeest (Alcelaphus buselaphus swaynei), the Tora Hartebeest (Alcelaphus buselaphus tora), the Lelwel Hartebeest (Alcelaphus buselaphus lelwel), the Senegal Hartebeest (Alcelaphus buselaphus major), and the †Bubal Hartebeest (Alcelaphus buselaphus buselaphus), while the Southern Hartebeest (Alcelaphus caama) has three recognized subspecies: the Coke's Hartebeest (Alcelaphus caama cokii), the Lichtenstein's Hartebeest (Alcelaphus caama lichtensteinii), and the Red Hartebeest (Alcelaphus caama caama).
