+epicfantasy Sorry I can be dramatic I just like double headed & Templar kite shield & you do your projects so well. I'm one fo you many big fans I really like your projects.
Omg THANK YOU! I love FOAM BOARD I have made shelves for my kitchen with it but I never seen like actual “furniture” like creations. This is amazing thank you
Thank you for this video! I will be using foam board for the first time next month regarding a Valentine's Day decor project. Since I am unfamiliar with foam board, I searched for a video to become familiar with it and this was the first one that popped up and it was informative. Thank you again!
Wow, this is such a thorough and informative video! I never thought I’d need a bevel or right angle tool until I saw all your organizers. You pointed out so many different uses and applications for it! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and creations!
Great how to video. As a cabinetmaker, I never realized all the cool joinery and construction that can be done with foam board. And you can do it all with simple hand tools-very cool.
Just bumped into your video and watching in 2020. I love working with foam board and I've been making projects with them for years but without those tools. Must buy. Thanks a million for sharing.
I painted both sides of my poster board with acrylic paint/water mix on both sides and it still bowed. I then misted it with water and pressed it in between wax paper for 72+ hours (as one would to flatten cardboard) When I removed the board after a few minutes I noticed it started to bow again. Lol🤔. I thought I'd try using polymer varnish on a corner to see if that'll flatten it for good. I do welcome any advice/resolves to this issue? If I figure it out I'll share my resolution here to help others. I will say I enjoyed this video. Very informative as to different ways to use poster board and various tools. You've done some wonderful things with this board. Thanks for sharing! UPDATE: I checked on the poster board that I had pressing for 72+ hours. I guess all it needed was time and patience because it stayed flat. 😉☺
Ooh those cutters look cool. I have made several containers for my millions of markers that need to be stored horizontally. I'd love that angle cutter, that would improve the edges so much. I was looking for tips to prevent jagged edges, guess its as simple as using sharp tools. Good video thx!
Thank you very much showing the foam board i never used before and thinking about the size and diffrent used of it very informative thank you again its gives me very helfull information keep it up when ever i used it for my project iwill send you the picture
Excellent. I'mma make a few prop weapons out of these for future projects. Had work with wood for a while now & thinking to look for another material that is lot more light weight while remaining stiff & strong. Don't want to work with EVA foam because after awhile, the foam can warp & curl from experience.
Very informative video with useful tips. I found all my answers to questions I had about a craft project I'm wanting to do- a DIY magazine holder with poster board foam I have on hand versus cardboard box which I would have to get at a grocery store. Also, to decorate my magazine holder, instead of using patterned duct tape, I was going to paint it but after learning it can curve, I decided am going to purchase a roll of duct tape from dollar tree. Thanks for making this video and sharing your knowledge on it (Currently researching which Xacto knife to purchase for the cutting because my sharpest brand name scissors won't cut the foam..well it is but I'm dulling the blade and I know it won't give me a clean straight cut like the Xacto would).
Thank you for your informative and creative vid. I didn't know about the various cutting tools - I like the bevel because it make the corners neat and clean and will use that to make a new project due in November. Take care out there and thanks for sharing!
I really like this new series. It will help get the basics for doing your projects. I'm interested about your sculpting foam (e.g. your diorama waterfall).
Hi guy i loved it your video i going to make some project and was seeing i will need a cutting knife border or edge like yours , but i dont have idea where can i find it, i looking in ebay but there’s not like that please can you say where can i buy it or the name for that tool I will appreciate to much Thanks a lot🙂👌
Thankyou for all this information 👍How much weight can these foam boards take on them without bending? I was wondering if foam board can be used as a base for 3d air dry clay painting
I've been using a big sheet of it for a surface for my videos, because it makes it easier to see what I'm doing. I wonder if you could make a catapult out of it?
Originally, I was just going to say thanks for the video, but I think now it's a damn good one not only for crafters, but modelers.Looked up Foam Werks tools on Ebay and they also have one that allows circles to be made. Definitely have a use for these tools. Also didn't know hot glue guns actually came in 2 settings which explains why my nephew doesn't use one as it always melted the plastic.Getting back into plastic modeling (1/35th scale) after 15-20 years, but not aircraft/armor this time. Going for zombie dioramas and want to build stores/homes with foam board. There are plastic kits of buildings available, but they're vaccuformed, so there's no interior and of course, there's the price.
holy crap, you are crazy talented! If you read this, what kind of paint do you recommend to paint foam boards? I would like to make some jewelry displays :)
I want to make diorama's for Marvel Legends, Star Wars figures etc, what thickness would you recommend for that 5 mm, 10 mm? The board needs to be painted and has to support the weight. I heard the best thing is to get it without paper, but in your video it looks flimsy without the paper. What do you recommend?
I have ordered some foam board to make my daughter a dolls house (we individual rooms) I'm not sure how easy it will be to cut, or if I want to glue wallpaper to it, if it will warp. Now I know it will, so I'll probably paint it from the outside too, to balance the warp!!
Hay that trick with the water was excellent, natural curve save trying to bend without breaking. My question is the most simple, I find it hard to cut straight lines in 5mm foam board with exacto knife, even with a ruler. When I push the blade tight against the metal rupee so It stays straight, the knife stil goes off and finds its own line which is not straight. Am I pushing too hard on knife or is the blade too blunt? I even tried heating blade up hoping it would fly through but I must of not done it for long enough. Thank you. England fan.
Thanks for the great comment. This is a matter of training your hands to a new position. Your hands being shoulder width apart tends to pull the cutting hand away from the ruler. It's a natural biomechanic. Rotate the piece so the ruler is more parallel to your shoulders. Give it some practice with scraps of foam. Hey and very clever idea about heating the xacto blade. I might give that some testing.
Hi Sir! I just wanna ask if it’s ok to spray paint the Foam Board to enhance its color? I was about to spary paint black, a black foam board so that it will look more expensive looking. Thanks you sir!
They do sell black foam board. It's ok to spray paint foam board but.... try not to get any on the actual foam core. THe spray paint instantly melts it.
Hi! Thank you for the video! I understand that if I paint the foam board I should paint both sides to prevent it from curving, but should I paint it at the same time or can I paint one side, let it dry and then paint the other side?
I was wondering if you'd think it would be ok to do a puzzle on a piece of foam board. Not to mount it, just for easy flipping when through, so I can tape the back.
Great new series! I really enjoy videos of tips and tricks about tools and materials, really gets the creative juices flowing! Also, please, if you can, make a tutorial about that desk organizer, I really need to make one of those for my studio and would love to have one like yours. Thanks so much, Will!
I saw your demo on foam board. I am just starting into watercolor and I was wondering if I could use it to tape my watercolor paper to it so I can paint on it? Please answer me back. Thanks

what kind of paint do you use? and will spray do? and which do you prefer spray paint or the one you use? and is the paint you use cheaper?
It's cool to see part of your workshop. It's surprising how many tools you have.
