I love the way you used music to influence the mood of your video. The dark suspenseful music built up anticipation and a little apprehension, then I had to smile when the carnivalesque music began as if the fun was about to start. Obviously intentional, fun and artistically brilliant. Thank you for posting this video. West Virginia has such a treasure trove of interesting historic properties just waiting to be rescued before it is too late. In this time of recycling and repurposing, rehabbing historic properties has become a growing trend. Which is how I came upon your video. I was looking at a property online in Wierton and when researching the town, your video came up. It was very helpful. I live in California where everything is so much more expensive and with all the wildfires and rate increases on home owners insurance, I think California homeowners are ripe for the plucking. It would be wonderful if some of these struggling WV towns would seize the opportunity and entice California homeowners, especially the retired ones who would not be effected by WV flat employment rate, to invest in the "salvation of history" in WV before it is too late.
Back when the steel mills were going, Weirton and the West VA Northern Panhandle were a prosperous area. After the decline of the American steel industry this was an area that many left seeking better opportunities elsewhere. The population that remained generally was older and poorer. There were more individuals who required social services but fewer resources were available to support the remaining population.
Oh my gosh that was wonderful to see this video. We used to live in weirton on 10th Street now in Colorado my dad used to work for the steel mill in wierton. Brought back some childhood memories would be nice to see a video on driving through New Cumberland route 2 and also downtown I used to go to school in New Cumberland.
I remember going there also as a child when my family lived in weirton. We used to also go as kids to the community center to roller skate and dance and swim and everything. I remember the statue of John f Kennedy in the community center and going and sitting on Santa's lap at Christmas time. Miss my childhood back there so much.
It could really use some greenery. Kind of depressing look about it. If a newcomer were to roll through looking for a new place to live, they would probably roll right back out due to how depressing it looks. The city nearest where I live has the opposite problem. They have beautified it so much that the place is growing way too fast.
What a DEPRESSING place. You couldn't PAY ME enough to live there. Even if I were DESTITUTE I'd find my way to a beach in Florida and live under a pier until I made it work!
I hope you didn't pick a pier in Fort Myers, FL (assuming you became DESTITUTE). Weirton does have a lovely "Bisquit World" restaurant (3:55) to help improve everyone's mood in town.

Seems all right. But, not a lot of people??? What can you say about Weirton, WV? I wish to know more?
It seems nice. I've been there once.
@@highschool5340 Weirton has a small town feeling, several manufacturing companies.
Used to be a steel giant. A lot of hidden scenery that people take for granted. Also 35 miles from Pittsburgh
It’s crazy seeing Kroger operating after being closed for 2 years now sad. Video needs updated 😭
This town looks a lot like the fictional Lillian, Ohio from the movie Super 8.
It is...
Super 8 was mostly filmed in weirton
@@MANICKL I was being sarcastic.
