I had a class with Pete Deets. He was one of our instructors at Steam School; on the Rock River Thresheree grounds in Edgerton, Wisconsin. He was a really cool guy.
Saginaw Timber #2 is getting close to steam operations at MCRM so hopefully she'll be back on the rails soon as well! But to have 1385 back on the rails is what I'll be patiently waiting for!
I got to ride in this actual engine as a kid. My father worked for the C&NW so I got to ride in this from the Adams yard office to the HWY 13 crosssing. I also got to be closer than the rest of the kids. Was a blast.
Although I'm only 15, I remeber the #1385 in the circus train video filmed by the Mark One Video crew. She was a grande sight. I also remember her by a diesel at the Florida Railroad Museum where I volunteer. EMD GP-7 #1835.
Her new boiler was made by the same people that are doing the T1 project believe it or not. 1385 looks like she's very close to being ready to be brought back into service.
At the moment, there is no official date of completion. It all depends on time and resources. I would strongly suggest contributing to the project through time and/or donation as it all counts in speeding up the rebuild. Visit the museum's website for more information on how to contribute. Including the 1385, a total of 8 steam locomotives from the Chicago and North Western Railway have been preserved. Once the 1385's restoration is complete, she'll be the only locomotive out of the 8 in operating condition. Thank you very much for the feed back and have a good day.

Yeah I saw that. MRM was in the wrong in that deal. I've read the articles and from the way it sounds, the situation wasn't pretty.

I will have to see if I can check this place out when they finish 1385. They seem to be replacing almost every part, I must say. =)
That Pete Deets looks and sounds just like the guy who used to head up (maybe still does) the operations at the indiana railway museum in french lick.

There's a steamer just like it in Colorado. It's Called #444 It's a oil burning Locomotive.

Why in hell did you send the wheel to Cheyanne, Wyoming. The UP steam shops could handle that job easily.
