Pop_OS was the only distro that worked well with my nvidia laptop. They sell laptops with Nvidia GPUs, so it makes sense for the support to be really good.
i used pop_os on a dual boot install for like a month, then 2 months ago i booted it up again and ran updates from the software store app built into the os. i had to restart, but then boom, whitescreen and error message telling me to contact an administrator 👍👍 i tried everything i could find to fix my install, but were never successful :/ i'm pretty sure this isn't a pop_os issue and rather a ubuntu / debian / linux issue, but damn that kind of experience is really discouraging pretty cool video nonetheless man, i enjoyed it!
I usually avoid dual boot setups. I'm worried that something like this would happen. If I break something, then both OS could be conpromised. I don't know the exact reason for your error, but if I were to use multiple OS, I would make sure that they are on separate drives to avoid complications and swap drives when necessary.
NEVER EVER duel boot anything!, thats just asking for trouble. the problem is not linux or windows. go buy a 240GB SSD, install that on your PV OR put that in a used PC THEN install POP os on that SSD alone. then everything will work perfectly. what I did was bought a used $100 PC 9 years ago and started out my linux journey. 1 year later I erased windows from my main PC and put a new HDD in it and added linux. today I have 6 desktops ALL using linux. my favorite distro is linux mint XFCE.
Pop!_OS is solid and reliable. It's not set up for modification and tweaking, it's set up for "It Just Works". As such I recommend it by default unless someone has a really strange edge case. The single biggest thing to learn from the start if you can is to put your /home directory on a different drive or partition, this means you can distro hop a little quicker if you want to. Using Pop! has allowed me to get into other Linux distros such as Fedora immutables (Silverblue and Kinoite), Bodhi (soon to be replaced with OpenSUSE I think), and of course Steam (Deck) OS.
Yeah, Pop!_OS just works, no BS. I do have 2 drives, making it easier to distro hop, but I just think it's a waste of time. Yes, you might be able to keep your personal files, but you still have to re-download your apps and re-setup everything every time. If Pop!_OS is fine for me, I don't see why I'd need to hop. Unless people actually want me to make videos and review certain distros.
Hope you reconsider the terminal. Its actually amazing. I do everything in there from installing apps to file management to using a calcultor and many, many other things. Granted, I've been using Linux for 2 decades. But give it another shot. It might surprise you.
I understand its power. I use it from time to time for file manipulations, a few scripts and some git pulls. I might give it a shot if I actually need it more, but it's definitely not my priority.
When I need to do a system reset, I usually reinstall Linux from scratch. EDIT: It has a feature called "Refresh OS", I never used it, and it is currently greyed out.
To reinstall Linux from scratch? Yes: th-cam.com/video/Mb19x6274EM/w-d-xo.html You need some technical knowledge, though. Make sure to back up your files and folders.
glad you like it, it's a cute distro. I prefer a mor customizable distro personally, but it comes with a lot of issues, so it really just depends on the use case
Yeah, I don't care that much about customization. I prefer that everything is nice and ready out of the box. I usually go over the settings once and that's pretty much it.
Unfortunately the Linux terminal is unavoidable. Eventually you'll run into problems, whether it's with the OS or programs, that will require you to solve them using terminal.
@@thefrankring i used to be this way when i first started using linux too but nowadays i kind of dont want to use linux if it isnt for the terminal because its way easier and quicker to do 90% of the things you would do on a gui by just writing what you want to do, and not even get me started on all terminal utilities you could be using along with a gui, its really good for productivity and just doing things in general

I main Linux Mint. I decided to try Pop OS, because it's more stable, right? No. Never going back to it ever again. It lacks so many features, it's so hard to customize. The best part is, Mint has performed better with games than Pop for me. In fact, even base Ubuntu felt more stable. Never switching to that thing ever again. Edit: I'd also like to say... Why is the taskbar so HUGE lol. Like, I know you can make it smaller in the settings, but that just messes up the icons. The developers really enjoy big icons it seems
I went from Pop!_OS to Mint, but then swapped to EndeavourOS. So far a better experience than Mint, and while Pop!_OS primarily bothers me with its Pop Shop bugs and a bad implementation of Nautilus, I keep the ISO on a USB in case I ever need a quick default gaming setup. Mint needs a bit more configuration, especially if you use any newer hardware, as default kernel is older... but EndeavourOS covers all the bases (including NVIDIA drivers) until I need to use a .deb or encounter an AppImage with some Debian dependencies
@@lumeronswift Yeah, being Debian based it a big pro. It has its weakness, but many distros use it. Plus, I don't know anything else than apt lol Instead of using the Pop!_Shop, you can use the COSMIC Store, though.

Nice man!
Pop OS is really awesome. I can't wait to switch to it once the new version of COSMIC comes out.
Yup, it's on the way! :)
Pop!_OS is a great distro. I used it for 2 yrs straight. Longest I ever stuck with any distro.
