Came back to this video, after watching the other video you made about the GH5 and how it’s a better form factor than a box camera for multiple situations. I think Lumix should come out with a modular camera, DSLR size with all the functionality you’d normally see and have a removable EVF, make the screen/fan module removable and make more modules that can take XLR, more ports maybe, a vmount back, CFexpress type B… anything you want, just buy the right module for your needs so you have a small mirrorless when you want it and a “box” when you need it.
The G9-II native ISO in Vlog (a.k.a. "0db) is only 500 ISO. The GH6 0db is 2000 ISO. In order for the G9-II to reach the GH6, you need to add +12db of gain to reach 2000 ISO. (GH6 does this at 0db) I really hope the GH7 is preamped back up to 0db at 2000 ISO. If not,...im not upgrading my GH6!
@@_tographer - No,..the GH6 base 0db ISO is 2000 in VLog. If you have a GH6, try it, you can't go lower than 2000 ISO in VLog. 2000 ISO in Vlog looks SUPERB after you pass it through noise reduction. In a low-light log shoot (like a music concert or stage play) you would need to denoise almost any log from any camera. Check out CineD's GH6 lab tests.
You’re talking about using dynamic range boost and yes if it’s on, you can’t go lower than 2000 ISO. However, I would rather turn off Dynamic range boost and have clean ISO 250 footage.
@@_tographer - Gotcha,..my DR Boost is glued on at all times. CINED's lab tests show that the GH6 (DR Boost on) actually beats many modern full-frame cameras in DR. I have a feeling that the GH7 will use the same 0db - 2000 ISO. I darn sure hope so. Forcing +12db of gain to reach 2000 ISO from a 500 ISO base is not cool in my book for the low light stuff I do.
I have gh6. Iso 2000 with dyn boost is only usable in low light. It has no latitude in darks and it is very noisy. In good light low iso is better and cleaner.
I still have the GH5, and have completed a whole movie using it, with exception for some low light scenes. The GH5 is impressive, but the low-light performance was not so good. If the GH7 could address that, it would be super, along with the other points mentioned here.
I'd want them to use the sensor in the upcoming ZCAM E2-M5G - a 5K dual gain global shutter sensor that supposedly has good dynamic range. I'm not sure if including IBIS would be feasible with the larger 4/3 sensor, but I'd give it up in exchange for what the sensor offers. Forgoing IBIS might also allow them to include an electronic variable ND system. This sounds more like a GH7S than a GH7, though.
imo they should go back to the 4/3 sensor size of the GH5S rather than the M4/3 size. low megapixel count, geared toward video but with some photography features.

About FF because I started with MFT system I tend to want my FF looks like MFT exactly the opposite of the trend I like it with photos but with video everything under 2.8 FF is just messy and I hate the new Netflix series where everything is super shallow to mask an unprepared ahitty background... If you want to save money just film everything shallow and don't give a f..k about the background But I went to FF Lumix because S5org had such nice image and the low price...and second base ISO Well lass year the price of S5org got insanely low after the release of S5II,S5iiX...you could fine a S5org new for some weeks at 1/3 of S5iiX because shop wanted to sale them as fast as possible😂😂😂... For me GH7 with dual gain and dual iso 400 iso in Vlog and 6000iso second base with at least 15 stops of DR with 60 FPS...it can drop to 12 stops with 120 fps...
I like Auto Exposure with manual + or - compensation. Sometimes you like to override a stop or 2 above what the camera decides. No camera has that for video.
Sony is small and light weight and the lenses are just as small as 4/3 at least some of them. Or a lot of them. I think the main concern is Sony over heat…. Yes they do where go won’t. We shoot videos in ca summer and it’s not even close. So what if the gh has ND ?
Useless? How in the world is that. I shoot 100% everything in DR boost VLog at 2000 ISO. Everything. Why would I throw away highlights? What woukd I gain for that in return?
For me, unless the GH7 does something incredible, I’d rather see a GX8ii. The G9ii has been doing everything I need as photography first but also video hybrid shooter. If it’s a G9ii with a fan and CF card for higher internals, I’ll pass. I can’t think of anything except a global shutter that would cause me to pick one up, and that would be for Flash Sync Speed, not video.
I need what you described, a G9II with a fan and CF for higher internals for shooting all day in hot conditions. Specifically shooting surfing for long hours on a beach. A GH7 with working Human tracking Phase detect AF at 4K 240p would be wonderful for surfing. I also want Open Gate 10-bit 5.8K 60p for vertical social media videos.
I want 8k 60p, much better evf, powerful processing for image improvements. Also video image zooming real time like in Phones. I dont need internal nd but even better ibis with corner warping correction please. Some 10bit photo format would be nice too.
I just want the AF and IBIS of the G9II, the colors of the GH6, the fine details of the GH5/S5/S1. And also a better IBIS in 5,7K and Open Gate.

Do you think they’d have to or potentially remove the shutter? I think without that the ND could easily fit especially on MFT

I want human/face detect/ tracking PDAF, Open gate 10-bit 5.8K 60p for social media vertical video and 10-bit 4K 240p for surfing videos in the GH7.

300 fps in 4k and... 1000 fps in HD and maybe also smaller body, more like the GH5 and... also the IBIS need to be better than a gimbal.😁

Well, look for possible enhancements like built in ND filter, some kind of RAW codec, etc. Also, sensor could improve over the G9M2.
