You guys give yourselves so much crap but youre true geniuses! Pushing through roadblocks and problems with true imagination and skill. Your work is astounding and better than most big budget movies. Most people want the public to only see the successes and triumphs. You guys are real! Passionate and show how hard someone needs to work to get magic to spark. Im in awe of you guys and dont ever stop! Youre true film makers
Robert Rodgriuez said that in many cases a limited budget and equipment make for a better film. It forces you to be more creative. You guys are knocking it out of the park.
Its like I've said for years....'Why don't Manfrotto just make one piece of broken tile, brush and piece of sponge?'. Stellar work guys, love your achievements. - JP
this is literally the greatest video of all of youtube. Problem solving, storytelling, vfx, crafts, miniatures, this video has every single thing I like in it!!!!
Every once in a while the algorithm sends me gold. I guess I've exhausted all the earwax cleaning videos on TH-cam. It's really great to see your work with practical effects. CGI has its place, but this stuff is fantastic!
Thank you so much for still using miniatures! Whenever I see people making movies with them, my hope for being a film director is rekindled. Really makes you feel like you can make any movie in your backyard.
I just love these old-school effects that goes in-camera with none, or almost no, post-production and the forced perspective was really really neat idea and something to remember for my own future projects! :)
Yes there is always at least a little bit of post, but in Slice of Life we were doing 10-15 passes for each shot, and here often just one or two. So it was MUCH MORE in camera which was really cool!
Working with what you have was always the trick even when we did them for big films. There was always something we would have to deal with due to budget, time or … things not working. Looks great!
I just rediscovered you guys many years after the therpf days and I'm absolutely blown away, what you can achieve with such a modest budget. You are all incredibly talented!
I'm a student at the FPTC TPT (Television Production Technology) Program, and every now and then I always go on a search on TH-cam for tutorial videos to past the time, and I think this video is one of my most favorites! I love miniature effects and I do hope to work with those kind of things later in my life. Thank you for showing these amazing effects!❤❤
The fact that if you showed me this i wouldn't know they were miniatures is not only amazing but is also a testament to the use of miniatures. It is my firm belief that practical effects should be the norm. Not the exception.
Movie armour-maker here. What I have learned from making my own crazy miniature shorts is the one thing you need ABOVE ALL ELSE when filming miniatures is ironically... lots and LOTS of space!!!! 😂👍🇬🇧 BRAVO to you both, I don't really understand the digital post stuff you do, but it is clear that your combination of that with your first-class model work is the cherry on the cake! Best wishes to you all from a French forest. ⚒️🐭⚒️
You dudes are downright unstoppable! Still loving the behind the scenes series btw, it's probably the best look into how to film a movie anywhere on TH-cam. Most people only talk about how to make movies and make up a bunch of stuff based on what they read online. But you dudes are showing how to do it as you're doing it for a real movie! It's awesome! Stuff like this is why you're my favorite Croatian filmmakers
This is an art and its so addictive to watch. I think sometimes gets so many digital layers and it feels all CGI. Now we are in a time where AI might help with some scenes for almost zero cost and it feels too real. Very nice work there.
You guys are really amazing. Your passion and creativity is pouring out of you! All you need is a dream, a vision, and you can go to the stars! Keep it up guys this is only the beginning!
You Dudes are so much fun to watch , but yet give so many ideas an solve problems , with a great attitude an passion . Truly inspiring . I build puppets an have done some shorts . After watching I don't feel alone in my madness , but more eager to follow my vision . Will be watching for your next adventure ,Thanks
Hello Luka & Dino! I watched Slice of Life and all of the production diaries made there a few years ago - it's great to see you guys still going strong after such a long time! Inspiring!!
This is such a dose of inspiration. I’m sure it can be frustrating when one shot doesn’t initially come out the way you’d like, but I can assure the improvement shot you made afterwards looks perfectly seamless. And of all the things you share, I think I most enjoy listening to you explain how you overcome those kinds of roadblocks. Kudos! Look forward to the short.
Your passion for filmmaking comes across on every video. From pre-production - Production - post-production, then to having a beer ( or two ) at the end of the day. Looking forward to the next episode. Cheers!
I can't believe that the first video about Miniatures & Filming is just what I was thinking while walking the dog, first time seeing your video, but feels so at home! Thanks for shareing!
Fantastic process and results! As a 3D artist, I love to see miniatures having that extra layer of realism for everything we can’t explain, congratulations!
At this point I'm probably just repeating myself, but this is so fun to watch. Awesome miniature work, paired with simple but very functional practical solutions and lots of humor. Bullseye!
Holy freaking crap. Love the whole Wes Anderson look of it all. This video alone has made me considered making a short film that takes advantage of that miniature-aesthetic.
at MGM Disney they have a miniature set of a submarine firing a torpedo at a ship using a compressed air nozzle sequence. at 1:20 scale, they capture at 200fps and play back at 15, to turn 0.6 seconds real time into some 9 seconds of 'full-scale' footage with the water moving like the ocean.
you guys are too hard on yourselves , Slice of life was magnificent , your this project is fantastic , I am really glad I found you channel a while back.
I love the tarp covered crates. Super convincing looking. Using the TV for background on the Apollo shot reminds me of the Volume productions like the Mandalorian are using for live digital backdrops. Cool to see that that concept can scale down on a budget.
This is really impressive work, and a wonderful testament to the versatility of miniatures. Those finished shots look amazing. Well done. It saddens me that Hollywood and modern filmmaking don't utilize miniatures enough anymore. It's a wonderful art.
Your attention to detail is obviously now honed from many years of experience, but you still amaze me with the insights and observations you see whilst creating. On top of displaying what only those who truly know their craft can do, making it look easy. (Don't think for a minute I believe it IS easy, ha ha)
Yessss! Fantastic video. I love how you guys always make it seem casual but you actually really know what you’re doing-the final shots look very very good… on my iPhone Can’t wait to see the final movie!!! 4K on my TV.
As a (former) SFX/VFX artist I would've done the warehouse shot completely in 3D. Quick to model and to give loads of detail in the front and animate the doors is trivial. The launch pad is something that makes miniatures (unless you have a Saturn V rocket detailed 3D model) very realistic and cool. I love prop making, especially painting so much more than 3D modelling. Awesome job guys! I ADORE INDIE FILM MAKING. You earned a sub!
Cool as F! Amazing. I reckon you can really tell as CGI has it's place but looses something. This stuff you do is second to none. Thanks for the upload.
Man I love seeing this kind of stuff. In an age of massive budget, bland, over stylised empty Hollywood block busters, and the over reliance on CGI, it’s so cool to see there are still some real craftsmen doing this kind of work. I love seeing the use of ‘hands on’ crafting skills to achieve these kinds of works. I definitely appreciate CGI, and it is certainly necessary, but I don’t like how it’s just become the norm and everything else like the use of miniatures has mostly fallen out of the picture (pardon the pun). Digital and practical should always compliment each other I believe. Fantastic work!
Just before watching this I was frustrated from working on my model of the Enterprise and after seeing how much work you guys do I don't feel so bad! 😁
I can't tell you how much I enjoyed your videos, and your sense of humor. You guys are super talented, and this was an easy subscribe. These kinds of videos are what make TH-cam great.
This is what real passionate filmmaking should be. Having fun, building things, making stories come to life.
Agreed!
fuckn eh !
.... and drinking beer!
And this is what we will lose in the next few years, cause the fucking AI.
@@ateexd There's one thing AI lacks, and that is putting its "soul" in a creation.
What’s not broken? The mini-fridge! I’m glad your priorities are straight! Such brilliant work… truly inspiring!
Haha yes! If the fridge died I don't know what I would do!
You guys give yourselves so much crap but youre true geniuses! Pushing through roadblocks and problems with true imagination and skill. Your work is astounding and better than most big budget movies. Ditto.
Thanks a lot for the awesome motivational speech dude! Really appreciate it! ❤❤❤❤❤
These Mexicans demonstrate their advancements.😮
With so much CGI, it's nice to see people with the imagination, skill, and patience to build these miniatures.
Thanks a lot!! ♥️
Slice of life is still my favorite fan made movie ever. It’s an masterpiece.
I agree 100%
I second that 100%!!
I agree 68%
i agree 1000‰

Robert Rodgriuez said that in many cases a limited budget and equipment make for a better film. It forces you to be more creative. You guys are knocking it out of the park.
I guess it's true! Thanks!
Love it how restrictions and boundaries always ignite sparks of creativity
Its like I've said for years....'Why don't Manfrotto just make one piece of broken tile, brush and piece of sponge?'.
Stellar work guys, love your achievements. - JP
HAHA, this made me laugh out loud. 😂😂 Darn it, it Manfrotto won't, we should patent it and get rich!!! Thanks JP!
I love how you guys overcame each problem as it came up. You guys are persistent and you get the job done!
No other way about it! Tnx! 😉
this is literally the greatest video of all of youtube. Problem solving, storytelling, vfx, crafts, miniatures, this video has every single thing I like in it!!!!
Much appreciated!
Every once in a while the algorithm sends me gold. I guess I've exhausted all the earwax cleaning videos on TH-cam. It's really great to see your work with practical effects. CGI has its place, but this stuff is fantastic!
We definitely can't compare with earwax cleaning videos, but I'm glad you like our work! 😉❤
Thank you so much for still using miniatures! Whenever I see people making movies with them, my hope for being a film director is rekindled. Really makes you feel like you can make any movie in your backyard.

You are wrong post work for this type of scene is monumental.
@ilic1878Never said some don't requires work, i said i love those kinds of effects when you don't have to do it, or hardly any at all, is all.
Yes there is always at least a little bit of post, but in Slice of Life we were doing 10-15 passes for each shot, and here often just one or two. So it was MUCH MORE in camera which was really cool!

The level of time and detail you both focus on to make this and Slice of Life inspire me in my work. I can't wait to see the finished product.
Thanks a lot for the kind words! ❤
Looks better than many CGI effects made in Hollywood films these days. Thank you for sharing!
The fact that if you showed me this i wouldn't know they were miniatures is not only amazing but is also a testament to the use of miniatures. It is my firm belief that practical effects should be the norm. Not the exception.
Completely agree!
Kick ass job guys! Miniatures are my favorite in-camera effect. Combine them with modern digital comping and it looks AMAZING!
Great job and wonderful sense of humour !
Glad you enjoyed it!
As a filmmaker who specialized on miniatures as well, this is pure joy!! I loved everything of it - great work guys!!
Awesome, thank you!

That is awesome! Nice job! I like miniatures!
It takes you to childhood when you're played with cars, trains, houses like in a movie.
It totally does. Sometimes we were laughing at the situation. Like, are we really playing with cars all day? 😂
Ah the quintessential AT-X 11-16mm lens. Also good taste.
Haha. And the most important reason: it was affordable! 😂😂
I just love the channel and the details EVERYWHERE! man! So inspiring
