Ænima (/ˈɑːnɪmə/ AH-ni-mə)[6] is the second studio album by American rock band Tool. It was released in vinyl format on September 17, 1996, and in compact disc format on October 1, 1996,[1][2][7] through Zoo Entertainment. The album was recorded and cut at Ocean Way Recording in Hollywood and The Hook in North Hollywood from 1995 to 1996. It is the first album by Tool to feature bassist Justin Chancellor, who replaced original bassist Paul D'Amour the year prior. The album was produced by David Bottrill.
The album debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart upon its initial release, selling 148,000 copies in its first week.[8] It was certified triple platinum by the RIAA on March 4, 2003.[9] The album appeared on several lists of the best albums of 1996,[10] including that of Kerrang![11] and Terrorizer.[12] The track "Ænema" won the Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance in 1998.[13] In 2003, Ænima was ranked the sixth most influential album of all time by Kerrang![14] Rolling Stone listed the album at No. 18 on its list of The 100 Greatest Metal Albums of All Time.[15]

Thanks.
thank you so much!! 🥰
😅😅😅😅😅😅
You know it takes a Christian to love music like Tool. Just saying! I mean where does talent like Tool come from. By the way eulogy is not at all right as Judas did not make Christ die on the cross. Jesus died willingly and for my sins as well

To upload with ads is human. To upload without is divine.
Ads are ok between songs but not in the middle
The uploader isn't the copyright holder. The copyright holder can choose to have their material removed from TH-cam. They also can choose to monetize the video and get the money from the views. If this happens, the uploader has no choice in if there are ads or not.
@@erad67 good info, thank you

@@markrapant5947 nah. Between songs is still bad. Especially with how some Tool songs specifically flow into each other. If it's proc'd by only manual skipping, I suppose that's fine though.
This album changed my life.
I was 9 years old and had never seen/heard anything like it.
Still gives me chills to this very day.
I never get tired of this.
Amazing. Timeless. Just absolute perfection.
Same :))) I was 12 and now im 38.
same. i was 16.
I discovered TOOL last year and it took me another year to realize just how much these guys have influenced my taste in music
Agreed
@elcuatedesmadre I was also that 16year old impressionable stage myself good times
2023, Louisiana U.S.A, 57 yrs old, love this whole album, awesome genius shit!! Thanks for letting jam with no ads..I'm off to see the wizard!!
Fun Fact: the track "Die Eier von Satan" is used in the soundtrack to the original short film, made in 2003 by James Wan and Leigh Whannell, that would become the 2004 movie Saw !!!!!! How cool is that
Have listened this like 10000 times and still can't get enough. The best album in the world!
Not only my favourite Tool album, but my favourite album of all time. It's got such a dirty feel to it. I love how it sounds like something you shouldn't be allowed to listen to.
Hey I am a Christian and cannot stop listening to this 1 album. I am saying talent in music like this one is hard to find. I do not agree with a lot of the lyrics especially eulogy but that is my stand on it
Yes bro!!! The fucking best top of the tops.
Dude, that is precisely what it sounds like! I remember finding the Stinkfist video when I was… maybe 13? Scared the crap out of me at first, but now Tool is probably my favourite band
@@TheHated1-ox3ht stop being christian. It is a waste of all of our time.
Ahhh, back in the day memories like it was yesterday! Teen life in Michigan, two track parties, kegs, good friends, HUGE BON FIRES, corn field home grown that makes dispensaries top shelf look like MERSH, tripping BALLZ to this album and making sure everyone knew who TOOL was by pounding the shit out of this album.. \m/
Fellow Michigander here, (Upper Michigan that is) and I tell you there's nothing better than walking through the cold winter woods listening to Tool
Swallowed my first hog brilliant❤🎉😮
Not much changes through the generations I am 65 and growing up in Florida no shirt and barefoot in the jungles having cake parties night wearing mosquito nets under our Bush hats there were obstacles but as natural Born Floridians we know our way around it tormenting alligators was just child's Play

@@bufflatino5121you people really do ruin everything
Undertow, Aenima, and Lateralus are the pinnacles of Tool albums IMO. 10,000 days and Fear Innoculum are EPIC in their own right but nothing compared to those other albums.
Agree!!!
You don’t have to apologize for 10,000 Days and Fear Innoculum sucking. Maynard wanted to do APC type shit but Tool was his cash cow so they made more albums. Many such cases. Sad!
@bifftannen9718 Completely forgot about A Perfect Circle. No idea why he went that route, deeply unmemorable.
Then again, as much as I love Tool, Maynard really is a bellend.
Undertow is the real shit, love that grunge touch to it
Listening to this at work right now on my bone conduction headphones whilst serving customers. My love 😍
Music that can be felt,,some days more then others.
Will miss him chilling, and hanging with people while everything falls apart. Will miss him.
My first play through with this record was something I was not expecting. Stinkfist started off with familiar territory that you got from undertow. But a little bit more trippier sounding. When Stinkfist was over, I was expecting another type of undertow style of record. But the very second eulogy kicked off i knew in my gut without a doubt this was going to be something fucking Epic. -when the record finally got to third eye I was just in a trance. I was not expecting them to go that direction with a song. When I knew instinctively the song was coming to an end. I literally found myself begging for it not to be over it was so damn good.. I love all Tool records equally in their own right. But there is no denying I can clearly see why that this record is the majority of all tool fans favorite album by them.
Gotcha brother. Listening since 92. I was five the first time I heard this music. He had a voice that was loud and proud.
The man the myth and the legendary no ad man!!!!!!!!
Si señores , una medalla para este buen hombre por favor ❤
Such a deep and heartfelt album. Most of these songs have a specific memory for me. In a time un my life of becoming a new father for the 1st time,my dad taking his own life ,and the coping that went with that. This album has my heartstrings. Thank you for the post with the least amount of ads possible.👍
Congratulations new dad! Sorry for your loss.🙏🏻💔✌🏼
Sorry for your loss...I agree with you about the 'specific memory'. I had just gotten out of the Marine Corps, was dating the most beautiful girl in town, and partying hard...HARD...I saw these guys when you just bought general admission tickets, and you fought your way through the mosh pit and Madde your way right to the rail at the stage, and right fucking there is Maynard Keenan, wearing long John bottoms. Another time, he was painted blue...I also saw them in Hawaii where I was stationed in The Corps. The Big Mele on North Shore. I was on a heroic dose of local shrooms, and it was INSANE!!!
Gosh, thank you for this! Now I can head bang to TOOL in peace. 🤘🏽
I gave a copy of this album to my friend "Waffles" when I was in 6th grade when he was getting on the school bus. "Waffles" was in the 8th grade and I always looked up to him, but he listened to the wrong kind of music. Once he popped this CD in his CD player, he was hooked. He listened to mainstream pop, hip hop, and rap before he got his hands on this Tool CD. This CD changed his life forever!
Good work 😊
average elitist tool fan
@@zeb5158There's nothing "average" about economicwinner, he's the OGT back from '92! He was into 72826 before it was tool... I mean cool.
Savin rock and roll, 1 CD at a time.
It takes a lot of plumbing to access Aenima's depths.
To this day, the BEST concert I’ve been to.
yeah they throw a awesome concert. i saw them Bham, Alabama,

Always hated big stadiums and big crowds of people, but seeing Tool live in San Antonio a few years ago was incredible. Gave me a new appreciation for Fear Inoculum and they played Opiate 2, which was a real treat. And hearing The Pot live was like a dream lol
Incredible music, I have to admit this is really awesome experience!
Greatest rock album of all time
Yes
Its incredible how after listening to these guys for nearly two decades I find new reasons to appreciate every album, with each one having a fitting moment for when to best enjoy them. This album in particular has such tremendous raw power, and despite it's somber themes it still has a humorous touch with an amazing cathartic finish. Aenima reminds me that it's okay to feel indignant or hurt, and that it's part and parcel of growth and development. This go around I finally understand why there is a sizeable dedicated portion of fans who herald this as their best. I love this band and always will.
Dude lateralus after many years. I heard parabol parabola in high school. I was boomed not realizing I heard them with undertow when I was younger. Purging me across the line.
Ditto, this band has been so good for so long.
Who’s still here in 2023?
And have to say, why don’t we have headphones loud enough for me and tool in 2023? GET LOUDER DUDE!!
I kinda live here
I am here teacher.
@@ensenadorjones4224 sweetness…
Been here since 1992
I really like how this album makes use of unique guitar sound effects, intonations, etc. to come up with a unique sound, rather than digital sounds which were coming up next. It's one of the better/best guitar albums for that reason -- right at the pinnacle before the turnover point to digital effects
Need another drink after this album. The greatest ever made
Thanks for putting ads in the middle of songs, TH-cam, this will surely help you win your battle against your users whom you seem to have nothing but contempt for.
adblock
TH-cam is assho
True relevant beyond misinformed information!
This album (and Lateralus) has to be among the 1A, 1B, 1C, etc list of GOAT rock albums, up there w/ some Beatles, Pink Floyd, Radiohead, etc albums. Not sure I could actually rank them.
Me, music therapy much needed
Here in 2024. 🤘🏻 Need this album more than ever.
Forty Six & 2 es realmente alucinante
this is the album that will get me through computer programming, wish me luck
Good luck
Hope it's going well👊
2024 and still one of a kind
I notice youre the only one doing this. Thank you ever so fucking much.
Aenema, my introduction to TOOL. Unfortunately only in 2001, but since then I've been a diehard fan. A good bottle of red wine and weed allowed me to immerse myself in the TOOL world. Getting deeper and deeper with Lateralus, then came the 10000 days, I was able to experience them live twice. I was now truly trapped. Wings for Marie live, unforgettable. The wait for Fear was made sweeter by the internet. More and better recordings emerged. Thanks to all the tapers who are brave enough to show us what power TOOL has. Experienced, yes experienced, live in Frankfurt for the third time in 2022. The Patient, Ticks & Leeches what a surprise. THX for TOOL
This channel rocks dude , thank you for all these classic albums
Still have My Original CD... Absolute Quality Album. Those of Us in the 90's were So Lucky 🖤
Gonna see them live once again on 10/12/23 IF! ID! ❤❤❤
still the same felings 30 years ago. AMAZING
Good to know there is an antidote to "Happy Birthday" song
Thank you for posting this!!!
Stinkfist played on the radio at work today, and since I hadn’t heard Tool in a good while, it really hit different for me. They’ve been my father’s favourite band for many years now, and I fully understand why.
Tutti gli album dei tool sono pezzi di storia..
Great Quality
Thanks for the Upload Dude
♥️♥️🔥♥️🔥♥️🔥♥️ thank you, so much brother!!!!!!
Been a fan of Tool for over 20 years and can not say anything bad about this group they are by far my favorite rock group I absolutely love all their albums but I'd have to say this is definitely my favorite album by these Guys
Incredibly Awesome group!
Now I’m back in grade ten smoking bongs in 2001…. Fuck yeah! Next is some Mr Bungle…you know. We all stoned
Simply, the best album by the greatest band of all time!!! Def, Stinkfist, H., and Eulogy are my fav!!!
Thank you!! 🤘🏻🎤🎸🥁✌🏼😊
honestly thank you so much for this
Drove from Santa Barbara to Atlanta in 48 hours listening to Aenima, Blood Sugar Sex Majik , and Grateful Dead on repeat shuffle. Was driving a Suzuki Samurai tripping fire on 1000 mics of White Fluff liquid LSD. I was a fucking Acid Ninja going 90-100 mph across I-40 only stopping for fuel and coffee at .88 cents a gallon blasting this across America on my pioneer CD changer through my 8 Kricket speakers
Who knows how to kick out some of the best prog rock music ever better than anybody better than TOOL 🔧
Thanks for no ads 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Listening while dissecting in my pathology lab. Love this album. ✌️& ❤
This album is an absolute masterpiece
Popping in on 2024!! Still a fawking good album. I found tool with their debut album while on morphine in the hospital. It hit hard!!
🤘Another Gem🤘
Can't wait to see these guys at Afteshock.
May 2024 and this shit still rocks
Thank you so much!
Oh yes, I'm sure I got this from Spec's the day it released
The universe is divided between before and after this.
The last 36 minutes of this album plays like one continuous song. On cassette tapes and vinyls it made up the entire second side, and I quite often would only listen to the b side, as I like that continuous program so much. The best part of this album is the last 36 minutes.
This Album was when the band was just finding themselves. Figuring out what they had together collectively combined together as artists.
It’s Superb
Changed my life at one listen
Appreciate it tremendously
ROCK ON 🤘🏼
La musica, un libro, el odio, el amor, la naturaleza u el infinito, son herramientas para que el "humano" se concidere como tal y esto que significa.... volver a lo mas primitivo de nosotros.... El Alma....
My Ad Blockers are golden to me...worth every centavo, Joe.
Have been into Tool since I saw the Sober video on MTV/ 120 minutes (the grunge Rock replacement for Headbangers Ball). The next day I promptly went and shoplifted a copy of Opiate from the local VHS rental place. Small town VHS joint. It was called "Couch Potatoes," but eventually got bought out by West Coast Video, which eventually closed and got converted to a Starbucks Coffee, which it still is today, in Medford New jersey, in Ironstone Village shopping center.
So basically my getting into tool helped put a VHS joint out of business and create yet another Starbucks... good times 😊
Now I know who to blame😤😂
Thanks endlessly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
