Really glad you didnt let that giy keep the fish as it seemed he was just going to slit the belly for the cavier and dump the body.
I think you handled that interaction perfectly Nick, awesome video with the new species
It's illegal to keep sturgeon in IL! Good job Nick! 👏🏻
It is illegal in a lot of places. Indiana has laws against that and they enforce them to. Ohio river
It’s actually not illegal to keep shovel nose sturgeon where he’s fishing. They have to be at least 24” long BUT less than 32” long to harvest where Nick is fishing.
Pallid and Lake Sturgeon are protected and must be released. There is harvest allowed for Shovelnose Sturgeon.
@@michaelduy9055and I hear they are quite tasty, never had it before but I willingly to catch one and try it.
In Idaho you can't remove them from the water period.
Fish:”that’s fine, this guy catch and release”
Nick:”This guy’s gonna make perfect bait”
Fish:” Wait, what???????”
That's the drum life 😋 I like saltwater fishjng for Red Drum 😁
You were as polite as you could be in a situation like that. Some people can be somewhat pushing. Keep up the great work. Congrats on your first sturgeon!
You were a lot more polite than I would have been with those two!. It's people like that that destroy fisheries by taking everything!. Good on you!
Nuff said!. 🙂
I try to be polite when fishing. Don't really want any trouble.
I love when people comment like this. Yay you were so nice I woulda been the douchebag that I am 😂😂😂. .! .! Are you stupid or is your keyboard broke ?.
Be careful with that, @@ancientfishing; I'm not saying be aggressive, but just be firm, I guess?
Some people will be more likely to be more aggressive with those they see as too passive or whatever; sad, but true...
it was fishing for fun but some needs it for food. It's people like you who destroy cultures to imposed their own.
There is no stated take limit, just a slot size
Im no party pooper but i would have absolutely called fish and game after that guy responded with "As many as you want"
Yeah, I don't know about your state laws, but you can't keep any sturgeon in GA. I'm fairly confident thats the law everywhere.
they are a protected species of fish only common to Mississippi and Missouri tributaries. because they are so similar to Pallid sturgeon, an endangered fish
My area of New York your are suppose to unhook them in the water and let them go. Not even suppose to bring them on your boat or land.
That guy was working on, "Old Country" laws. No problem! You catch as many as you can! I take and sell caviar to rich people, who don't know caviar from bait.
Facts but every time I watch his vids I think of the meme my eyes cause how many fish he loses lol
You picked the right spot for the Shovel-nose Sturgeon.
I hate when you find a nice quiet place to fish and someone comes and fishes right next to you.
I wouldn't have gave them the sturgeon either, is it even legal to keep the Sturgeon there.
Like at your private lake?
Agreed. All this shoreline and they pull up 10 feet from you?? Annoying and quite frankly rude!
@@CikalaTokalaSka Unfortunately, that's how a lot of people are.
I looked up rules, and it appears you can keep them if they're 25 inches and up...but sturgeon don't spawn until they are in the 5-7 year old range, and i'm not sure those smaller ones he was catching would even have roe. I'm sure those guys probably just cut them open, see if there's roe, and toss them if not.
@@CikalaTokalaSka it is a really crammed spot and really popular I go there around this time and the bank will just be filled everyone is trying to get on the sturgeon bite its just par for the course at this spot.
You sir without a doubt are one of the most enthusiastic fisherman I have ever seen 😅 dont loose that 😊
Lose😁
Great video, Nick. Thank you for standing for what you believe in. There's not enough of that these days.
People like that 🤬 me off " o you take as many as you want we just want caviar " you sir can 🤬 off lol. I'm with you on catch and release 🤘 awesome catch 👍
Your videos couldn't be long enough. I absolutely look forward to Thursday's like it's the first day of deer season
Nice job handling those clowns. Keep these great videos coming brother. Look forward to them .
Fun fact: that bridge (Chain of Rocks) was used in filming Escape From New York with Kurt Russell
Fun fact: those white pelicans are probably on their way to yellowstone national park
Fun fact!!!! I was gonna bone my gf but we got attack by mosquitoes, and she said there was "no way "
Wow can’t believe those guys.
Here in California very strict restrictions on sturgeon’s.
They have to be between a certain length to short mist release to long release as well. Only (1) tag a year.
Caviar is the reason these fish are endangered ( idiots).
Great job saving that fishes life as well as hopefully letting our kids fish for these beautiful fish in the future.👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
in illinois the shovelnose sturgeon are not NEARLY as heavily regualted as the Pallid or Lake Sturgeon. The shovelnose is the only species that you can keep and the slot size is 24-32 inches, but I have not been able to find a limit on the number that you can keep.
I now have ANOTHER fish on my bucket list. Gar, Bowfin, and now Sturgeon. Great video!
Thanks for watching man!
What are the laws like where you mostly fish,@@618Fishing? If you ask me, report the next set of idiots to Fish and Game Dept./Wildlife Dept.(delete as applicable) for harassment of a lawful angler, just for starters...
I caught a gar once. It’s like landing a dinosaur. Pretty cool.
Bowfin fight like heck. Lake Fork in Texas is full of them.
Think you mean #AlligatorGar, @@williamw1907? Regular Gar are usually much smaller...
So glad to see you out and about 618.We love your show and wish you all the very best!
We have green and white sturgeon here in Oregon. They are good eating and there is a slot limit for size on retention. Two fish a week, but you can catch and release all day. First one I caught was twelve foot long and estimated to be around four hundred pounds. One I got last fall was twelve to thirteen foot and looked like 55 gallon drums welded end to end. Took an hour and a half to get it to the boat so we could release it. Sure gives you a workout, but it was a lot of fun.
Fellow Oregonian here, can confirm, almost got yanked over the side of a boat by one as a kid on a fishing trip with my father, think it broke the line if I remember correctly but I'm not fully sure as it was when I was in like 2nd grade and I'm 22 now haha, they get BIG for sure though.
Nick's out with his winch again!😂
What a great day and blessed with good fish in spades; well done, Nick 👍
Finaly you got a decent net...😅😅😅
Yeah we finally got some rain on the Mississippi. I always like it when it's down. Though the monster do usually come in shallow when it goes up fast. Just hard to land a 50+ pounder in the flooded trees and weeds.😄😄😄👍👍👍
Good job!! We all appreciate your content keep up
the good work Nick!
Check out the Fraser river in BC for white sturgeon,They get huge.Tight lines Nick.
Epic video! You need to come to the pnw and get on a oversized sturgeon now! Yeah the sturgeon caviar is a problem. They will cut them open and just leave the fish dead.
Congratulations on getting that bucket list fish. You handled that interaction as well as could be. Really odd. I’ve had people ask me if I was keeping a fish before and if not could they have it. But nothing like that. I’m also strictly catch and release unless it’s a charter then I give that away to people I know can use it.
Great mix of fishing lately, good job Nick.
The nostalgia was really strong with this video. Loved the background.
Fantastic video Nick! They are incredible looking fish. Cheers
Another excellent fishing adventure! You handled that situation well!
Great video as always! Thanks Nick!
Great stuff nick thanks. Congratulations on catching your first sturgeon.
Awesome adventure Nick! Keep them coming buddy 😎
Nick you have been killing it lately!!!
Stoked for you!!
Keep on rocking it brother
Big respect to U for actively working on your bucketlist👊🏻
Nicely done and well done with your interaction with those guys. They thought you were crazy letting them go.
What a great video! Sturgeon is on my bucket list too! This will be one of my favorite 618 videos!
Chain of rocks! Good spot. We used to call it the barrels. Love the videos. Watch every episode. 314, 636 fishing here.
try the illinois river at starved rock dam
Well done Nick! Time for some caviar! Congratulations !!
Nick, I am happy when you are happy.
This was an awesome day out.
What a haul nick, amazing job. Sturgeon are an amazing fish xxx
Love the new net it's massive. And great job, sturgeon are super cool.
CoR area is so close to your home and LOL, first video I have seen from this area. Nice day of fishing.
Another fish that I’ve yet to catch. Nice job!
Really nice, keep your cool with people like these. That's why you are the best.
Great video Nick! Always look forward to your posts. You handled that awkard situation perfectly. Ive heard crappie work really well for big sturgeon.
Beautiful Sturgeon! Congratulations!😎🔥
Damm Nick! I hope your prepared to start signing autographs!! 😂😂💯🤙🤙🔥🔥
Those fish are awesome!
Great video Nick keep up the great work
Recent videos have been the best I’ve seen from you in awhile! Keep up the good work. Those people are ridiculous
Those fish look so epic , great catches 👍
People don’t catch social queues sometimes, makes for awkward situations. Nice job handling it!
Awesome! Congrats.
Awesome day of fishing handled those two guys in the proper manner 👍🏽
Wow !!! Look at you go!!
Great video, Nick! Good call not giving the fish to that bamboozler. Way too many people take EVERYTHING they catch and if that area is anything like where i grew up in the Midwest; Wildlife officers are seldom around. Here in NC, I get checked by F&G officers at least a half dozen times per year. Thanks again, brother!
I'm so jealous! Great catch dude!
The Chain of Rocks Intake Towers were built to draw water from the Mississippi River for the St. Louis Water Works. The first tower was constructed in 1894 and designed by William S. Eames, resembling the famous Moure Tower in Germany. It’s still in use today and has been designated as a St. Louis City Landmark1. The second tower was built in 1915 due to the inadequate intake capacity of the older tower to meet the city’s water needs2. Both towers are part of the Chain of Rocks Water Treatment Facility, which was the largest filter plant in the world at its construction time
New net got put to some great use!! That sure is a lot of surgeons
Enjoyed the content Nick👊🏽👊🏽👊🏽👊🏽👊🏽
Sturgeon size is quite varied by species, the largest White Sturgeon landed in Idaho was 1500 pounds and 22 feet long. It was caught on a trot line. There used to be sturgeon twice that size around the Caspian Sea.
When I was in school for aquaculture we had a sturgeon 84 inches long that was still probably a juvenile White Sturgeon.
Good job buddy. i catch some big lake sturgeon on the rainy river in Minnesota they are a blast. Your videos are very entertaining. Im getting older and think about fishing more than women now! Thight lines to all reading this!
Excellent video and congratulations on the new species. The Missouri limit is 10. Great job Nick on protecting these fish.
From Canada ,Great video your demeanor is fun to watch.PEACE BOBBY
What an epic day!! Thanks for sharing it with us.
Thank you for doing that great job
Such a distinctive-looking fish. That sturgeon was very nice. I'd love to catch one some day.
Hi Nick! Love your vids!!
I have always wanted to catch that dinosaur of a fish. Congratulations.
People like that are infuriating. You handled that very well. I hope in the same situation I would handle it with as much grace. Love your channel!
Kool fish .. nice day out
Sturgeon are an interesting species. I've spent my time chasing them here on the columbia. My PB is 16ft white sturgeon. There are historical pictures in local museums of 20footers! They are extremely long lived with an average of 100 years for 10 ft. And yes that is very much a shark tail. Sturgeon and sharks are very closely related.
Congrats on the target species! That catfish released off the boat was as big as a human body!
You never know what's going to happen on the water. I had a guy a few years ago walk by my gear and say my backpack was his. Crazy. Nice fish, Nick! Thanks for the video.
What kind of bag was it
@@domwetzell1603 Bass Pro Advanced. Nice backpack...he didn't get it.
@@doglegwhat happened? Did he move on or did you have to call police to settle the issue?
@@Rose.Of.Hizaki when I said I was calling the police, he decided it wasn't his bag.
@@dogleg always seems to be the way it goes. I had a similar story of someone accusing me of stealing their phone despite it having a different wallpaper and further proving them wrong by unlocking the phone with three or four different fingers with the fingerprint reader.
Nice Nick. Congratulations on your first sturgeon. Don't think that guy was right about how many sturgeon you could keep. They were rude and you handled it great.
I clicked on this video at random since it was about fishing at was like "omg! That's the old Chain of Rocks Bridge!" Been there more times than I can count. Brings back memories from many decades ago... I've always wanted to go out to those old pump stations but never did. I can remember going over that bridge long, long ago when it was still open along Route 66 and the Chain of Rocks Amusement Park up on the hill. My family and I used to go there back in the early 1970's. Oh, the memories...
You really show how much fishing can be done without a boat or anything fancy really. Love the channel
Great net!
Proper well done
Stay positive and keep on fishing brother. That was a weird encounter while fishing, glad you let that fish go! Be safe brother and keep these videos coming👊🏼
Those sturgeon were fab. Hope your hand heals quickly for you.
Awesome video my friend thanks for making my day better 👍
Improvise adapt overcome!! Your doing it well!! Great video
I caught the one in my picture right where you were standing. I've been waiting for you to go back over a get some after watching the last time you tried. Congratulations on your catch!
Great catch! Thanks for watching!
Way cool. you really hit the honey hole here. I didn't know there were that many sturgeon in our area.
good job I love sturgeon they are my favourite fish to catch I actually got one before it’s the biggest fish I ever caught 😊
Love the new dip net!
Good call on letting that fish go Nick. Sturgeon are a protected species so it is illegal to keep them. Tight lines buddy 👍
I love the intros! ❤️
This video inspired me to go out and try my local flow for white sturgeon, got a 6 footer and I'm pumped. Heading out again today. Thanks for lighting a fire under me to chase these monsters again!
So awkward 😬
Nice new net!
I drive over that bridge often. No wonder I always see fisherman there, that place is awesome.
I'm with ya buddy, I don't mind giving fish to someone, but I'll be darned if they're going to just take it out of my hands. Some people are ridiculous.
Lighter note awesome fish, keep on doing what you're doing buddy!
that was a interesting interaction with those two guys. I feel like its rare to see you run into other people fishing in these locations you go to. makes me wonder if you are fishing during the week or on weekends
Great bloopers at the end.
Glad you bought a bigger net
LMAO “we just keep the eggs” Why kill one when you can kill a million and one?
I’m glad you have so much respect for the resources
Love catching sturgeon! I was wondering when you would try targeting them, congrats!
Those are the kind of people that litter the bank with dead fish carcass once they get what they want by how aggressive they were. This time being fish eggs. You handled that situation way better than i would have. I would've called them out for sure especially with that aggression trying to take the fish out of your hands that wouldnt fly with me.
that shovelnose sturgeon is gorgeous. congrats!
