    Dame is NOT a member of the Miami Heat and Pat Riley surely regrets his stinginess. But how much are the Portland Trail Blazers to blame? #basketball #commentary #nba

    They essentially got Ayton, Williams, Brogdon, Camara, 3 1st round picks (two unprotected), and two pick swaps for Dame and Nurkic.

I would hate to have to contend with those scrubs in the west, most of their conference are joke teams, 3 real contenders the rest is subpar POS franchises that dont care about winning as much as they care about other teams losing (case and point, the Dame trade, after PHX got officially involved i was 100% we are not getting Dame and i was already on the fence about Pussland) . I can tell you for certain, the real Heat fans are not that upset right now, we trust our front office and coaches Spo and Pat, they will make the right moves when they present themselves like they always do. Miami should've made a good enough offer that Cronin rejecting it would've made him look like a villain. Offering less than Bucks (bc far-future picks/swaps from a very old team can be super valuable) lets Cronin off the hook bc he could make the same decision as if ego wasn't a factor. If Miami added 1 more pick and young player, Cronin would've had to wear that cross to Blazers fans/owners. People would've called for his head if Blazers underwhelmed bc they'd say he let his ego ruin a better deal. That aspect might have had Cronin reconsider but Miami didnt even try

    Pat Riley and the rest of that front office is just an extension of their fan base. Overvalue and overhype borderline good players (Nikola Jovic or Jamie Jacques Jr) or good players who they believe should be untouchable (Tyler Herro). those are some smart friends you have bruh, im a heat fan and i feel exactly the same way. Maybe i would have given them Jaquez, maybe, but even that is a big stretch. Dont worry about our front office, they got this, look where we are, do you think we could get here with a bad front office? if Pat was not on top of his game? If Spo was not? Are we the perfect team, no we are not nor do we aim to be, we embrace our mistakes and work together to mitigate our collective flaws, we do not look for perfection we look for truth and honesty towards ourselves and giving the best we got whenever we go out there. We have our rules and we follow them, thats Heat culture, we dont give in to crazy demands, we do not stake our entire future which is certain to be good for an immediate dream that should be good but we dont really know. Thats what Miami culture looks like and thats why it works, there is no BS involved. Thats why certain franchises in the NBA are simply above and beyond the rest because even tho its still a minority, they get that to win you need to put in the work, not the money. Thats why we were in the finals, 2 out of 4 last finals, thats why GS won the chip, thats why Denver won the chip, thats why we got oh so close, and i could go on and on and almost for every finals game you can say that the team that won really deserved to win.

No need to make big splashes for them, a regular player good at the job we need him to do would do just fine if consistent. I would not mind a splash tho especially for that stretch 5 since size is most of what we need and rebounding consistency on D, speaking of which Pat if you are reading this, Jonas Valanciunas is the man we need. We need somebody able to stop the Jokič's and ADs of the world on the team and currently we have only Bam and even for him its tough. Hell at this point i would not mind Boogie. We saw last year how much of an impact getting Kevin Love had, if we could double down on another similar player just younger, i say thats the way.

    nah we did not screw up, its all good. As soon as phoenix got involved i knew right then and there it will be nigh impossible to make the trade for Dame. But even so, without Phoenix even involved the ask was either Jimmy or Bam (which would fuck Dame over anyway) 2 of our youngsters and all our futuer picks untill 29. It was not gonna happen that way. This is a heated debate in the fandom of the Heat at the moment, with the "fans" thinking we screwed up while the fans think we all good. I disagree we put all our eggs in that one basket, it was never a certainty and it was not even close to the AD situation. Also i remember Dame giving a statement that regardless where he would end up he would perform. As well as it was not Jovic that was the deal breaker, they wanted either Jimmy or Bam, but i would not trade Jovic as well and the additional side of the package was crazy as well. We were prepared to trade Tyler Duncan and Kyle and our picks to get the job done, we were prepared to include other players as well. We dont need no back up plan per se, we need a decent center and pg still, which would still be the case if we get DAme, we'd still be undersize as hell. The Bucks needed to make the spalsh to retain Giannis. Again you are missing the mark big time, the problem was Phoenix joining in the trade, thats why we lost on Dame, not stinginess. Nah, we keeping Pat ty, only "fans" are pissed at him right now, no hardcore fan is really mad, we gonna be good im not worried

    Heat never wanted Dame. Heat were willing to take Dame for the bare minimum, being tyler herro and a couple picks. Anything past that, not so much. Also much more info came out from Dame's camp stating that Cronin never even wanted to negotiate with Miami and specifically didn't out of spite. There was no chance Miami was getting Dame with Cronin's pettiness. Dame speaking up about one and only one destination backfired and it is what it is. Miami have been to the finals twice in 4 years, and ECF 3 times (game 7 one three from winning even for a third finals visit) all with basically the same roster year in and year out. The thing is that ever since 2019 there has only been 3 superstars free agents, nowadays players would rather get a sure thing rather than risk it in FA. They all want to sign the supermax and ask out the next year, they want their cake and eat it too, when the supermax was created so small market teams could retain their star player, but it doesn't work since they just sign and dip. That's why banking on getting a superstar through free agency nowadays is slim. If a player don't sign an extension, they're gonna trade him so they don't lose him for nothing.

    The asking for Jimmy or Bam is standard negotiation, same way Rockets asked for Kyrie or KD for Harden or Nets asked for an all-star for KD.
    If they really wanted to the Heat and Blazers could've gotten a deal done, but Heat stayed firm with their offer and didn't want to outbid themselves, that lead to Portland getting mad and ignoring Miami.
    For example, Heat could've given Herro (flipped for another first), Jovic, 3 firsts, 2 swaps, Lowry, Duncan Robinson, Caleb Martin, Jaime Jaquez
    but when it's going on for months, they get sick of hearing from Miami and went forward with the Bucks offer of Jrue, Grayson, 1 pick, and 2 swaps

    • @ckq

      I really thought it was a forgone conclusion he was going to Miami and we might've had to wait until the trade deadline like we did with KD, but the Bucks came out of left field. Ultimately, the Bucks trade is better for NBA fans since the Heat's lack of depth was gonna kill them. Dame and Giannis is a much more interesting duo especially when it's essentially just a straight up Dame for Jrue swap. It'll tell us if offense or defense matters more since Jrue is one of the best guard defenders and Dame is one of the worst, but Jrue is a above average on offense, Dame might be the best offensive player in the NBA rn

If they wanted Lowry he could be included as well but that was about as high as we were willing to go for a max 34 year old Dame who can prove to be a liability and walk for nothing in 2 years. It was a bad deal for us, lets not kid ourselves. If we signed and traded Struss maybe we couldve gotten the deal done but otherwise we really did not have the right assets to make the deal at this time unless a 3rd team got involved and unfortunately for us that 3 rd team was PHX who we got beef with for as long as i can remember and the deal washed right there, we were never able to match Ayton without gutting our team to hell in the process. He is inconsistent(more consistent than Struss). Max Struss tho.. was terrible. People think he was playing great for some reason he shot 32% from 3 in the play offs. Like do people not remember this man bricking everything? He had a great playin game then returned right back to what he was doing in the regular season. Playing horribly.
      People don’t watch the heat and don’t actually understand why they were the 8th( actually the 7th seed) there are multiple reasons
      Injuries
      Inconsistent 3pt Shooting
      - Max Struss 35% on 8-9 Attempts per game.
      - THIS IS TRASH
      Gabe Vincent 33% on 6-7 Attempts per game
      - Terrible shooting
      Kyle Lowry…. No words needed
      Dwayne Dedmon…. No words needed.
      If it wasn’t for the inconsistency of these 4 players. The Heat would of actually been a way higher seed. But mainly if it wasn’t for the Injuries and bad timing of them. They would of won more. Examples
      Heat vs Wizards
      - Heat only had 8 active players and had to call players from their G league team so that they wouldn’t Forfeit the game
      - Bam, Jimmy, Tyler, Caleb Martin, Gabe Vincent, Olidipo all were injured.

    Literally this whole video is a built on a faulty premise. The Miami Heat didn't center everything around acquiring Dame this off season. That's just how it happened to shape out. They didn't let Gabe and Max walk because they were expecting Dame. They literally walked *before* Dame even requested his trade. According to Gabe himself, Miami even offered another contract to him. The two sides ultimately just couldn't make it work.
    And then you have the assertion that Miami basically just expected to land Dame easily which is, by all accounts, also a false narrative. Dame's agent, cousin and multiple corroborating pieces have all come out and said that Miami did everything it possibly could to acquire Dame. It's one thing to say it wasn't enough, which after the Jrue trade, even I can accept. The Heat couldn't match that. But it's a completely different thing to suggest the FO was just complacent. They weren't. Also the rumor that Pat Riley was asleep during the Trade Deadline last season is like literally from a meme page.
    I understand it's fun to antagonize the Heat for some reason but from the most objective standpoint possible, the only thing wrong they did this season is be the team Damian Lillard requested a trade to. I don't understand the desire to vilify them for that. They made good moves. They drafted a solid prospect. They missed out on Damian Lillard to a better package from another team. That's all.

    I'm really tired of pretending like Tyler Herro is anything except fucking useless in a playoff game. There's a reason they sat his ass out in the finals, that boy is a solid 20ppg player in the regular season but he's lucky to get 8 or 9 points in a playoff game and he is a 0 on defense. A pretty average 3 point shooter by modern NBA standards and on certified fraud timing when the defenses get tough in the playoffs. He was fully healthy back in 2021 and the Heat had a decent backing cast and they still got sent packing in 4 games, and three of those games were very, very far from close. Overall this might be the most inconsistent core the Heat have ever had, and it frequently gets bailed out by its amazing depth, and part of that depth was allowed to leave this off season thanks to Pat Riley. They need to get rid of Herro, they desperately need to get rid of Herro. Sure he looks like a good player in the regular season when Jimmy Butler isn't even trying, but as soon as Jimmy Butler turns into Jimmy Buckets, Tyler Herro turns into Tyler Nobody.

  • @bedstuy4_l895
    @bedstuy4_l895 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I really only see 1 of 2 options for them post trade, and that is to either see what they can get for a combination of Lowry + Robinson + Martin + literally all their picks (probably would be divided into two trades) or just trade Jimmy and Bam (and maybe even Herro in that case) and blow the team up.

    • @weedhigh2564
      @weedhigh2564 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      we dont blow our team up, and if we did dont you think it makes sense to keep Herro and Bam since they are young? Dont you think we would not trade Duncan and Kyle in a heartbeat if we could? Im all for trading for a stretch 5 and a defensive minded PG, dont get me wrong. Buuuuut... you know... nobody wants them at the price they are going by and its not like we can deflate their salary... ya'll really have no idea about who the Heat are and what we are about, this is not how we do things, if you dont like it how we do things you always know where the doors are.

      @@weedhigh2564 you watched the video. Pat Riley is getting old and showing signs of Alzheimer’s. He is not going to make the necessary moves to lead this team to anything. There probably is no necessary move for him to make. They can choose to buy into the narrative that is Heat culture but they will be stuck in mediocrity for the next 5 seasons at least. It is that stupid ass narrative that has cost them any rings since the Bron days.
