- Let's Make a fantasy map for Dungeons and Dragons. In this video I use a wonderdraft which is a map making software good for D&D and RPGs. This video is a Wonderdraft speed build if you like those. So my big question I have always had is what does the Bigger world look like in theses fantasy settings? Where do Orcs come from or Dragons? You ever notice dragons just kinds show up? how do dragons meet up to make baby dragons? is there a DRAGON LAND? With that in mind I set out to make a realistic fantasy map for my Dungons and Dragons game. With this series we will look at the bigger picture of a fantasy world.
This is also a Collaborative project so leave Ideas, Names, anything and we will look to add it to the world. Also yes you can 100% us the map and anything we make for your games.

Thanks! It has been a roller coaster. Kids are so much work and 2 at the same time is insane. At the e same time it has forced me to do other hobbies as I just don't have the time to play as much magic. Sitting down for a 50 min match or going to my LGS is not an option, for now. Also I'm relearning my love for D&D. so that is cool.

Unfortunately Making budget decks for any kind of competitive format is almost impossible now. When I made this channel and started making budget decks I wanted to keep the decks in the $20 - $60 range, as this was my budget for a new deck. But you just can't make a competitive deck for that price anymore.
IF I moved into casual decks then sure you can make budget decks again. But that doe's not interest me.
So much respect for the top down world building approach. I love these kinds of angles for building a world and have been trying to perfect it for an Earth Scale world of my own. Even got the 35% land mass down just by eyeing it. Super slow process but I’m in love with it lol
Thanks I did a fair amount of research before I started this project. Now that it is getting a fair amount of attention I may revisit it and start expanding. I guess my big question is what would people be interested in next? A deep dive into one country? A braod overview of where Races are from? A simple Zoomed in map of once place?

I love this map and the attention to detail you put into it. SO few map makers look at things like how does the topagraphy of a world affect the bioms...they just splash biomes in willy-nilly. I'm sad you stopped the project. I ran across this video when looking for D&D map making videos and was super excited to see the rest of the series...
So I’m planning on reviving this project.
I use this exact method to create my fantasy world about a year ago thanks to artifexian. Highly satisfying to create your own fantasy world that's at least somewhat grounded in reality.
Unfortunately, my hard drive died and I lost everything. Guess it's time to redo it.

I'd love to see a video or find some reference to how you made your height map, because my Google-Fu isn't up to snuff on finding anything helpful on that front.

I don't know much about Dn'D or map building but maybe you could take a page out of Tolkien's book and try to make places sound like what they are. For example, calling some evil and spooky mountains with an evil and spooky name: Ered Gorgoroth.
Maybe this was obvious, IDK.

@@GiantMonsterGames That name, Ered Gorgoroth is a a place in Tolkien's universe, I didn't come up with it.
The problem (or maybe it's a good thing) is that using the phonetics of words in this way requires to know how the place is beforehand.

Yah that is a good Idea. This is built in Wonderdraft but there are some other programs I use also.

What about a high dwarven city in one of the mountain chains named Vahlkan. It is also one of their major mines and is the only source of white gold on the entire planet.

You could make giant monster and they would be like gods for with country than the country would be named after then or a characteristic the have.

Them they would be treated as Gods
Could be also a Bermuda Triangle type of place with same mini bosses and them the boss of the place could be a super giant monster like Arixmethes, Slumbering Isle or a Dark Depths type of monster

The island near Terding Bay should be Terd Island. But it should be spelled Turd Island.
