Thanks! I love how you went over all the tools and some tips/tricks for each one. Helped me hit the ground running with the software and was more helpful than a lot of the other vids on the topic.
Pro tip for the SHUFFLE TOOL: You can select multiple items by holding shift or ctrl, just like you would do in Windows Explorer and the like. Helps a lot when you want to litter a place... 🤪
@@ShriKenerd If I could have the assets from inkarnate in the UI of dungeondraft, I would be happy. Finding high quality and res assets that allow for commercial use but that don't cost the earth in licensing is hard.
Great tutorial! I'm loving Dungeondraft but I don't really know how to use it nearly as well as I can use Wonderdraft. But videos like this will get me up to speed!🔥🙌🙏
Another question: Can the qualities of an object be changed after its initial creation? For example, if you wanted to change the choice of wall on an existing room?
How do you delete the floor of a room? I can delete the walls but I can’t delete the floor. I saw when you tried to delete the room it only deleted the walls, and you tried to select the floor but couldn’t and then cut away and the floor was gone. How did you remove the floor lol
@@johnwspeck I tested a bit, here is how it works: If you create a room withe Building Tool, you also use the Building Tool to remove the room floor. (you can select the wall with the Select tool, but you cannot select the floor like that) If you create a floor with the Pattern Shape Tool, you need to select it with Select tool and can then press Delete. ||WARNING|| (Alt doesn't funktion in combination with the Pattern Shape Tool, this means when you use the Pattern Shape Tool + Alt you create another floor on top of the previous. This means you then have to delete 2 floors with the select tool.) ps: Since using Üattern Shape Tool + Alt is usually the goto for new people, it can dupe you into thinking that the Select tool cannot delete the floor. This is wrong. ps2: Pattern Shape Tool not working with Alt is likely a BUG, so if anybody knows how to report this as a BUG, please do. Hope this helps you :)
I don't think you can. I believe the point of those layers is that they're always where the walls, portals or whatever will sit. So they get their own layer that can't have anything else on it.
This is an even easier/bigger step up from Inkarnate. Question: Is the grid only available in squares, or can I put hexagons? I just like hexagons more than squares. I might have to save my map with no grid and then upload to Inkarnate and add the grid there.
I always found Hexes very odd to use, but to each their own. I don't think there's inbuilt Hex support from the start but since this thing is very modifiable with external assets, you can easily add hex overlays to put over the map. "Hex Grid Overlays for Dungeondraft" by EightBitz seems to be a solid and free asset for these purposes.
This is why I decided to go with dungeondraft vs inkarnate. Being able to pay once and keep the software is important to me and I wanted to support the devs for allowing you to do so.
As much as I appreciate the video, the title is misleading. I get you're playing the algorithm game and definitely hustle, but this is just the most general, basic tutorial and doesn't teach anything about map optimization or tips and tricks to really make maps pop. I think you should just rename this one and then make another one giving us hints on what you do and call that one 'How to create amazing maps'. Also at the very last seconds of the video the audio cuts out. Thanks for making the tutorial though!
This is a really cringe question / obvious advertisement. Alchemist looks awful IMO and some reviews suggest Draft & Inkarnate are superior alternatives. So clearly there's a lot of reasons why you'd prefer to not use Alchemist.

Glad it helped!
Thank you so much for the clear, concise explanation of the tools. What a sweet tool for $20!
Nice! Thank you for explaining everything so clearly! I opened Dungeondraft and was quite confused. Now I'm completely ready to draw my map!
Extremely helpful, concise, and entertaining; thank you mate.
This was a great introduction to the tool, thank you! 🔥

I do that too. I find it's especially useful for foliage and rocks so you don't just have the exact same plant or stone plastered all over the place
Very useful and high quality dungeon tutorial video on TH-cam 😊🎉❤. Thanks for sharing~
Superb - shows capabilities and how to so much better than reading pages and pages of manual
perfect tutorial. im up and running in 15 min
The building tool is THE thing I miss most since moving to Inkarnate!
100%. I also don't enjoy the way the do walls in Inkarnate.

I completely agree! Inkarnate's assets do look great.

Thank you so much this is going to be epic when i use this for my new virtual campaign with foundary
Thanks for the quick tut.

Exactly, it's like this is a giant mystery that I haven't seen answered anywhere on any board.
Hold the ALT key and drag to select. It will remove walls and floors in the selected area.
Hold ALT to undo placement of rooms, paths, textures, etc. Can be used on water and caves, too. Wish it was mentioned somewhere better in the program.
This still is not clear to me. I hold ALT and drag to select, and nothing happens at all. Like others, I find no way to get rid of the floor pattern.

Will you be using Dungeondraft?
I had my eyes set on it for quite a while as I'm always looking out for new tools to enhance my games
its crazy, i'm using dungeondraft for months, but couldnt find out how to enable the greyed out layers. Any tipps?
I don't think you can. I believe the point of those layers is that they're always where the walls, portals or whatever will sit. So they get their own layer that can't have anything else on it.

I really wish you could rotate prefabs
Only problem I have is that water goes above everything regardless of the layer you set it to. Is there any way around this?
Can you tell me why, when making a building, the floor tiles are rotated all sorts of random directions?
I would also love to know this it’s driving me insane
I have a short question: Dungeon Draft costs 20$. But do I have to pay 20$ once, once per month, once per year? I couldn't find the answer anywere.
Once, no subscription for dungeon draft.
@@Elkator955 Thanks for the answer. I think this is a very good price, for paying once.

can i use this on macbook?
yes
I thought this was going to be a tutorial on how to make a map look good, not just controls.

No disrespect to Dungeon Draft, but with Dungeon Alchemist out….why bother??
