For my DND campaign i created a world using Songs of the Eons, it simulates like a million years of randomized tectonic movements and therefore creates landmasses and biomes that are semi realistic in nature. I changed a few things around but the shapes always look really natural and the mountain ranges are in realistic places.
I love the fact that there's a random welsh state smack bang in the middle of this fantasy world. And it's in a mountainous/hilly region which is quite the irony.
This is by far the best 'nation rp' ive seen yet, considering its focus is entirely on the RP. Normally forum nation RP is just about 'winning', while heres everyone is dedicated to making cool historic moments throughout the game.
Thats exactly what they were supposed to be. Vestoria was supposed to be the rome of this world, however it was surrounded by powerful enemies like Alhza, the Goblins and of course the united Bytos empire. Both sides of the War recruited over a million troops which created a famine that was so strong it brought the world into a Dark Age.
I love that the little Welsh State in the centre of the map lasted the entirety of the game so far with little to no change and losing literally 0 land, going from The Dragon Islands to the United Mountains. Lovely stuff.
I was the player on it the whole time if we ever get to see the later ages you will quickly watch them become massive war profiteers basically just selling weapons to every side
Wow, you guys did something incredible. I tried similar things with a fictional Roman/medieval style world, by drawing maps, creating personalities and fictional cultures and imagining the history of several empires, but it only lasted for 3 centuries and went so complicated that I abandoned the idea. I'm glad that someone succeeded in this kind of thing.
Really tho, this man has some serious dedication. Inkunzi has been made by tinkering around with various nation rps to see what fits best and I got to hand it to him this one is PERFECT.

I would suggest maybe making a new scenario some time in the future a bit more CK3 like, we’re instead of one player is one nation, you could have several people in a nation. I’m not sure how this would pan out in eras other than the medieval age but it might be a nice simulation to try out as you can have smaller groups in a nation band together to declare independence or fight a civil war.
i really want to see how a universe like this with fictional races would translate over to a fantasy setting in the 1900s. For ww2 i imagine apocalyptical scale race wars between empires where potentially hundreds of millions of people die through blanket chemical attacks, incindiaries ect before even mass bombing and infantry combat. there would be no mercy if the person your fighting does not at the very least look like you or behave like you, and if your regime indoctrinated you under extremely esoteric beliefs. Similarly a ww1 era global war would be very interesting as well. I can imagine it starting out with steampunk esque industries clashing with napoleonic tactics, trench deadlock broken by the invention and usage of giant mechs
It definitely already had changed the world profoundly. Things like I guess "Speciesism" is huge, players will RP their cultures as either very prejudice or non prejudice against other species, and much of it is dictated by the past actions of those species against eachother. This in turn made "Racism" between Humans almost non existent
I wonder if we will see a rise of democracy's similar to our timeline after/during 1900s or perhaps democracy could be stomped out during WWI making most of the world authoritarian. It will be interesting for sure, especially considering how there seems to be a good amount of republics even now.
Any polity that was able to assimilate other races/species into itself would have a massive advantage over polities that couldn't. That was part of what made Rome's conquest of the Mediterranean so successful - for every group they conquered, they offered feasible paths to Roman citizenship, which guaranteed those peoples various rights under Roman law. Roman citizens were "Romans" in every sense - being Roman was a civic identity, not an ethnic one. If the Roman state recognised you as a Roman citizen, you were a Roman. The same way that, if the United States government recognises you as an American citizen, you are an American. This practise created a vast pool of loyal manpower, that Rome could draw on for its armies. And it hardened Rome against external attempts to provoke revolt. When Hannibal crossed the Alps into the Italian Peninsula during the Punic Wars, he attempted to elicit aid from Rome's subject peoples in the region (the Socii). Hannibal hoped to agitate the Socii, enflaring old grievances against Roman imperialism, and turning them against Rome itself. But because the Socii were full of Roman citizens, they felt loyal to Rome, and backed the city against Hannibal. Project this onto a Fantasy world, and the idea would be much the same. Why exterminate the Dwarves, when it would be so much cheaper and easier to just learn to respect them, and cultivate loyal citizens among their kind? It would mean more manpower, healthy trade partners, and access to foreign expertise. Imagine fighting a Roman legion with access to Dwarven siegecraft, Elven magic, Orcish combat experience, and so on. Respect for diversity is a strength, not a weakness. The big tribe is the safe tribe.
This is an insanely cool project, especially as I've tried to create "histories" of my own in the past using pencil and graph paper. Though the Discord server's currently closed, I'm looking forward to updates on this channel in the future! Hopefully this can develop into a series that can coexist with your existing HOI4 content. In addition, if updates aren't going to be that frequent, I would suggest setting up an announcement channel or some way to inform everyone that's not a part of the Discord of what's currently happening in Inkunzi, or "tease" important developments in the game. I noticed there's a Twitter for the project, but it doesn't post very frequently. It would be great to have something for spectators outside of the Discord server to keep up!

In the russian segment of the Internet we actually have a whole genre of that thing called 'War-political games'. It is a text game based either in Discord or in our social networks, where people create their own countries, describe their culture, history, etc and place them on the map. They can either intract with their own country writing laws (which influences their statistics in the in-game economy, for example), or interact with players (waging wars, trade, etc.) and NPC-countries. Besides the fact that you can also spread your religion, perform spy operations, etc.

It was very fun and met alot of new people. I haven't been doing much lately, so joining in when the link re-opens would remind me of the good old days, and have a huge wave of nostalgia hitting me.
I have to say that the idea of trying to cover a world's history like this is crazy. The kind of time and effort to even try this is something I could never do. But it is without a doult one of the coolest things I have ever found on TH-cam and I have been on the site since late 2008. I wish more people did this kind of thing for nation games like ck3 and eu4. Having a mass of user made nations battle it out over time would make for a fun watch.
I used to run a server of a few hundred that did this type of stuff, both fictional and historical RPs. Shame we all lost touch there were some great lads there. Congrats on pulling this off I know how hard it can be!
Man this was a nostalgia trip. I only took part in the map game for a short couple weeks back in season 3-4, but i still remember it fondly. That little green nation in the bottom left corner at 3:15, Aristopazia, was mine. I spent the entire week of my spring break my freshman or sophomore year just roleplaying and making stuff for my country like lore, internal maps of the country, and even propaganda posters. Great times man
P.S. if the guy who played the Imperial Fomar Republic is out there, i hope you’re doing well. I remember you were the person i talked to the most, and I think i ended the season by converting my country to your weird dragon religion lol. Only love
I'm a bit sad you had to close the discord, but I understand. I'm really hoping to get into this because this is by far some of the coolest RP ever, and I love nation RP games but I can't ever find ones without a bunch of kids thinking "kingdom of poopy" is funny and cool.
I think this is interesting for creating histories behind alien civilizations. Like imagine playing Stellaris where planets have their own procedurally generated landmasses and you sort of have to make up your own history behind how an alien civilization came to being. Imagine an alien civilization not too different from us where the nation that came out on top was a highly feudal aristocracy akin to those from 14th century Europe with a feudal monarch and nobility. Or imagine how a planet with hive minds would play out where every hive mind tries to outcompete each other and assimilate the weaker hives into itself.
This is the kind of game I’ve always wanted. Sadly the amount of data, work and technical know how would make it an almost impossible task to make. Also I don’t know a computer that could run it, nevermind a person who could create it
Wow that was awesome! I have always enjoyed stuff like this and have even run something in a similar vein at one point though on a much smaller scale. When spots open up again I will definitely take a look. Also on a side note if you enjoy things like this a couple go to pen and paper style games that are good with a small group that I enjoy playing are (Dawn of Worlds) and a new one called Mappa Imperium. As someone who use to play and was actually a moderator on earlier forum-based nation simulators like Qpawn, SPC Classic, Nations, etc -- I really enjoyed this! I'll definitely check it out whenever it's back open.
You should say that you're doing another nation RP, but starting from some point in ancient European history. Announce that you're searching for players, and so on, and then announce that you're starting it and will summarize the video in a year. But everybody's confused, because nobody knows anyone who actually got accepted into the event. Once the day of the reveal comes, just start summarizing actual European history in this style and see how long it takes for people to realize :D
I'm doing something like this but myself. I made a world and had nations slowly rise, fight, fall, sharing the stories on a discord server. sometimes, people can vote on events. It has made some pretty interesting history already despite not really even being in the classical age yet.
Enjoyed watching the video, gave me some ideas for my own worlds I use while gming D&D. Will keep my eyes open for that link to discord to open again. Till then keep up the good work.

This is amazing, reminds me of diplomacy with a mix of world building and strategy. It was one of the most interesting rps I have ever participated in, and this man is a god for running them so long.
No, I just watched it for fun because I make a lot of stellaris empire to see how they interact with each other and see the alliance and rivals rise and fall like in this but with actual players is very interesting.

I wish I would have known about this years ago, this is exactly what I have always wanted to get in to. You should look into pitching this idea to a company, something like a DnD online sort if thing but on a country scale, campaigns lasting from days to years.
This is a lot like Nationstates RP. I currently participate in a region called Lands End which has an amazing modern day nation rp. The stories and worldbuilding that comes from having a bunch of people collaborating on a project like this is crazy. I hope some of you consider giving Nationstates (especially Lands End) a try if you like nation rp.
i have years of nation rp experience, from 16 to 20 (today). I have moderated many rps and i know how hellish it can be to run these things. the longest are usually 3-4 months but a whole year? good god my friend yyou poor man. i can't wait for the server to open again as i would love to partake in a round :)

First time watcher here! Really enjoyed your content and the work you put in it. Nevertheless, the music used to mark the transition of ages is oddly loud compared to your narration.
I know nothing about Nation RP but I feel like this video should be much more in depth. Climate, land fertility, resources, population density, culture, religion - all these things are essential to understanding a country, they are constantly changing. I don't know how deep this RP is but it's impossible to get a proper picture without mentioning all these factors.
Got a question: Out of all the Ages, which nation was the strongest out of them all for all eras, and what nations were simply the strongest of their era?
The Eldari Council, and by extension Vestoria was probably strongest for most of history. However, I'm a little biased. The AOI, and the Bytos nations usually were pretty strong too, and the West had a lot of strong players for a while. More recently I'd say the Valor Council were the strongest, that or some of the larger Eastern states.

We already have a lot of character only players, and everyone has a character, at least a ruler, if they're a nation.

I'm a bit sad you had to close the discord, but I understand. I'm really hoping to get into this because this is by far some of the coolest RP ever, and I love nation RP games but I can't ever find ones without a bunch of kids thinking "kingdom of poopy" is funny and cool.

I think this is interesting for creating histories behind alien civilizations. Like imagine playing Stellaris where planets have their own procedurally generated landmasses and you sort of have to make up your own history behind how an alien civilization came to being. Imagine an alien civilization not too different from us where the nation that came out on top was a highly feudal aristocracy akin to those from 14th century Europe with a feudal monarch and nobility. Or imagine how a planet with hive minds would play out where every hive mind tries to outcompete each other and assimilate the weaker hives into itself.
This reminds me of a similar thing I used to do as a kid, thought I was the only one who did that

This is the kind of game I’ve always wanted. Sadly the amount of data, work and technical know how would make it an almost impossible task to make. Also I don’t know a computer that could run it, nevermind a person who could create it
Wow that was awesome! I have always enjoyed stuff like this and have even run something in a similar vein at one point though on a much smaller scale. When spots open up again I will definitely take a look. Also on a side note if you enjoy things like this a couple go to pen and paper style games that are good with a small group that I enjoy playing are (Dawn of Worlds) and a new one called Mappa Imperium. Anyways I have maybe comment once or twice on youtube ever and what you are doing seemed very awesome and I wanted to say as such. Anyhow hope you and everyone who reads this is having a good day :).

As someone who use to play and was actually a moderator on earlier forum-based nation simulators like Qpawn, SPC Classic, Nations, etc -- I really enjoyed this! I'll definitely check it out whenever it's back open.

You should say that you're doing another nation RP, but starting from some point in ancient European history. Announce that you're searching for players, and so on, and then announce that you're starting it and will summarize the video in a year.
But everybody's confused, because nobody knows anyone who actually got accepted into the event.
Once the day of the reveal comes, just start summarizing actual European history in this style and see how long it takes for people to realize :D
I'm doing something like this but myself. I made a world and had nations slowly rise, fight, fall, sharing the stories on a discord server. sometimes, people can vote on events. It has made some pretty interesting history already despite not really even being in the classical age yet.

No, I just watched it for fun because I make a lot of stellaris empire to see how they interact with each other and see the alliance and rivals rise and fall like in this but with actual players is very interesting.

You should look into pitching this idea to a company, something like a DnD online sort if thing but on a country scale, campaigns lasting from days to years.

This is a lot like Nationstates RP. I currently participate in a region called Lands End which has an amazing modern day nation rp. The stories and worldbuilding that comes from having a bunch of people collaborating on a project like this is crazy. I hope some of you consider giving Nationstates (especially Lands End) a try if you like nation rp.

i have years of nation rp experience, from 16 to 20 (today). I have moderated many rps and i know how hellish it can be to run these things. the longest are usually 3-4 months but a whole year? good god my friend yyou poor man.

Well I must say it seems you and your players have put allot of thought into this world you have created, I am very intrigued to see how it goes and I am interested in joining if at all possible. As I see from the map and history you gave me there are many ways I can create a Kingdom of Incredible power but I also see that kingdom will need a large economy, one which I might not be able to create, I am very interested in this. The link I have been given isn't working though so if you could send me one I'd appreciate it.
Have you considered using Azgaar's fantasy map creator? It would do a lot of the heavy lifting in terms of the map and physical geography

I know nothing about Nation RP but I feel like this video should be much more in depth. Climate, land fertility, resources, population density, culture, religion - all these things are essential to understanding a country, they are constantly changing. I don't know how deep this RP is but it's impossible to get a proper picture without mentioning all these factors.

Got a question: Out of all the Ages, which nation was the strongest out of them all for all eras, and what nations were simply the strongest of their era?
The Eldari Council, and by extension Vestoria was probably strongest for most of history. However, I'm a little biased. The AOI, and the Bytos nations usually were pretty strong too, and the West had a lot of strong players for a while. More recently I'd say the Valor Council were the strongest, that or some of the larger Eastern states.
Being the Hammura Player makes me look like a dork after being annexed by Shielda in the Dark Ages
