Remark for loudness. Invidia for sound quality. Invidia gives a bassier tone. Guess it all depends on the budget. Could always go for axleback, and get the midpipe later down the road or just go straight for the catback. Question: Is either one of you planning on doing a turboback? If so, it would be a nice video to see in the future!!
I'd say that there's a bit more drone with the axleback, but both are very manageable. The r400's drone pretty much blends in with the road noise unless you're going over 85ish
catback sounds better at lower/mid rpm, but the axleback sounds better at 7k rpm. axelback is louder over all. and as far as the aero goes, i’d do a moderately sized GT wing
Hi Cassandra! We have individual videos on each of the exhausts that have in cabin noise, revs, and flybys! The catback has 4 straightpass mufflers, and a resonator, while the axleback deletes the mufflers completely!
Both are good. Some days you want loud, while other days you want not so loud. I think drone should also be included in your testing. Duck bill all the way. Paint match or black would be sick. 👍👍👍
I went with a full remark catback with with muffler deletes and a center resonator so it can be quieter with no restriction (before the cat) and it doesn't sound annoyingly loud just on cold-start
WRXGarage hey! I got the 3.5 inch single wall. I’m nervous they might be a little too loud but we’ll see how it goes. It sounds like it’s pretty loud for a minute when you start it cold but it gets quieter as it warms up. Love your car btw!
I'm quite torn between the two, on one hand I think the axleback suits the WRX more to hear the rawness of the engine, on the other hand I think the catback elevates the car's prestigeness to make it feel more comparable to higher end sports cars.
I personally love the axle back. Just because I love that loudness . I think when doing an exhaust you definitely go for sound, but the r400 does sound good , when driving . I won’t like the drone when I do my axle back but fuck it
Both sound sweet. I love the deep tone on the R400 :D cant believe some ppl say it sounds as stock LOL... I have Beyerdynamic DT770 headphones and the bass is awesome on them. I drive a 2003 Seat Toledo 20VT (I bet you dont even know this car) and I am undecided betweet axleback vs catback thats how I found your video. Guys at the store suggested I start with an axleback and later on I can add remaining parts if I want more power and sound gains.
Yes!!! Thank you Dani! (Kevin) Kyle is laughing at me because everyone likes his exhaust more. I think you can start with either a catback or axleback, but if you're looking for power gains, you'll definitely have to go for a downpipe (especially for turbocharged cars)
The axel back sounds louder. The catback sounds dope as well. Good job guys 👍. I'm subscribing right now. I have a 2017 base model WRX aka (ocean blue) I added fog lights and a Vortex Generator from Frank's Irvine Subaru out here in California. Again good job guys.
@@WRXGarage No not really. I'm a retired Navy sailor and I'm blessed beyond belief. I'm going to get the STI after I pay off Ocean Blue. I really like our community. I am excited about the new design coming up. I like that Subaru put everything but the kitchen sink in the2020 WRX and STI
WRXGarage haven’t made my mind between WR Pearl Blue or Pearl White... and I picked the base trim but then I saw the premium performance package which got me thinking again lol. I haven’t signed anything yet but I do have the deal sheet pending for my signature lol
Axel back it's a cleaner sound. Best way to describe Axel back = exhaust sounds 🔥 Cat back = sounds like an exhaust problem lol.also feel like your gonna get different sounds from different cars like I have a q50 and I only have axel back exhaust and it sounds like a GTR obv not one but sounds just like one
I think the delete is louder, as far as wing or duckbill, if mine didn’t come with a wing I might lean towards a duckbill only because it doesn’t attract as much attention but I do really love the wing, it all comes down to personal preference. But if ya did go with a duckbill I’d go with color match. That’s just me😁
I switch to the r400 because is not too loud but it sounds way smoother than the crap remark...i use to have remark and sounded like a broken civic lol
i have the remark axle backs and there nice, I'm also straight piped and it's insanely loud. If you do run a down pipe with the remarks, i would definitely get a resonated mid pipe, lots of drone.
@@robinjohansson5365 It's basically a loud humming noise that comes from the exhaust, usually when your on the freeway. Imagine a bumble bee flying around inside your car constantly,. Don't know if that helps at all.
For both exhausts: Any drone on the highway? I do a LOT of highway driving and am worried about that. Is it possible to keep the car quiet? I live in a Canadian suburb and don't want to disturb my neighbours
In terms of drone... Neither one is obnoxious at all. The axleback drones a bit more at a higher tone, but it's still manageable for sure... Also the same on cold starts, with the axleback being louder. You can get axlebacks that have mufflers in them too tho
My 2018 wrx had a straight pipe and I loved it, but tickets and living in quiet neighborhood I now have a GrimmSpeed Catted Jpipe and Invidia R400 catback and I love it as well but sometimes I miss the loudness and turbo whistle
WRXGarage all 3 are good in my opinion, I just felt the quality and performance of the GrimmSpeed was above them, after all the research I did, I have a comparison pic of the j pipe and stock j pipe on my Instagram gugiwrx
Hey Raul! I actually bought it from a friend. It's the Rexspeed CF duckbill spoiler. Our buddies at ImportImageRacing definitely have se options to choose from too!
I definitely like the axle back much better that’s what I have planned for my 2107, but I also have a question did either one of y’all do a tune after you did your exhaust work?
Hey Josh, for any kind of exhaust mods on these cars other than the downpipe/jpipe, you do not require a tune. I don't think even a protune with these parts, would add any noticeable power... With the catback, maybe 5-10hp only because of the increased diameter of the piping. But the only real power difference will come from the dp/jpipe
WRXGarage I kinda guessed that I was just curious if you guys did or not, both of y’all cars look great. I personally went with the dark grey paint, with the blacked out interior.
I'd say objectively the axleback sounds so good, but in terms of daily driving, I'd probably go with the quieter catback. On that note, does the Invidia catback produce a drone in the cabin? I really love the exhaust tone but I'm worried about that. Also about that 1080, hit me up

Which one do u have
Claude towers subiedepot 4” single wall
Why would an axle back bring out spool more than a cat back?
@@Steve-qr2lm he said the sound, no performance gain from axleback, and you could tell by the video
@@BLACKOMAMBO i don't think either provide much in the way of gains.
Need down pipe and perhaps headers and tune to see performance gains
I personally like the deeper tone over the loudness, that's why I went with the invidia catback myself.
Yes! Finally someone who likes the r400 more! Kyle's axleback is definitely more agressive..
WRXGarage Yes and the fact that you can build on top of it. Axle back limits u in that regard.
@@chrissanchez8730 you can still do a midpipe and down/j pipe with am axleback! Just need to make sure the flanges are compatible.

bruhhh I'm shocked. That axle back sounds so much better than I thought it would, and surprisingly (in my opinion) better than the invidia cat back
sound quality was the invidia but for loudness the axle back
Remark all the way.
Just put the remark muffler delete on my spt exhaust and despite it being a CVT it sounds RIDICULOUS
Cat back wins hands down for sound quality. Ax back wins hands down for loudness.
R400 catback deep over loud

Hey Kyle! I finally went for the GS jpipe paired with the invidia r400 catback: th-cam.com/video/gJykstPG190/w-d-xo.html
Loud - remark, but sound quality gotta go with R400. I have the full j pipe and cat back r400. Gotta love that deep tone
Sick!! I've been thinking about doing the Cobb reasonated j pipe next month. Which do you have?
WRXGarage I have invidia catted j pipe to the r400. If I could I would go with grimmspeed jpipe and match it with my r400.
I'd say that there's a bit more drone with the axleback, but both are very manageable. The r400's drone pretty much blends in with the road noise unless you're going over 85ish
Why GS over invidia?
rthuang13 why Grimmspeed over Invidia?
Honestly I prefer the cat back I love the tone of the invidia in my opinion

i love the deep throaty tone of the nvidia. Might not be as loud but a definite win for me

As far as tone the catback is deeper and richer. But tge louder one is the axleback.
