Ryan or Kathleen..I was trying to do a small version on your postcards. I was very careful with the first light-green, wet on dry, did the whole oval in 2 strokes. I noticed the hard water marks within minutes. I thought I could fix it, I needed to deepen the color a bit more, so I went in for a second layer..MORE hard water edges, on the inside & outside all the way around. I don’t think this has ever happened to me-MAYBE a spot here and there. As I’ve told you all, I also have been learning Chinese brush painting for a number of years & I’ve never seen these funky edges on Xuan. Yes, I was VERY careful with moisture. I think I’ll be able to cover it with my next layers..but, is this something with the post cards? I used my Neptune dagger 1/4 at first, then switched to a small detail brush. I WAS going to attempt some loose kitties for my daughter’s birthday next week..using wet on wet. I’m reconsidering. My friend & I are experimenting wet on wet on Xuan. The big ones work good, using a high quality Chinese ink..but trying to do the same effect on a 4x5in piece of Xuan? 😖 …my first one..Franken-beast #1. 🤷🏼‍♀️😂. It doesn’t really resemble a black kitty..just another unintentional Rorschach test..🫣. Poor kitty…🤷🏼‍♀️
