  • The Knife Edge " Crib Goch" (Snowdonia National Park). North Wales. Crib Goch is a Grade 1 scramble on Yr Wyddfa. It's a long, narrow ridge with steep drops on either side, and is known for its exposure and serious route finding. Some recommend gaining experience on easier routes before attempting Crib Goch.
Great day, stunning weather and not many people on the ridge (at least - based on my previous experience). Hope you will enjoy the footage . Leave the comment please, like and subscribe if you enjoy this video.

That was bloody awesome mate. I did it the last time in 2012, i was 68. I didn't cover it as quickly as you did though.

Hi Martin. Comments like yours motivate even more to bring more interesting content. Thank you mate. We both know i wasn't fast at all, ha ha. I am sure if you swap boots for cross-trainers and "run" (instead walking or catching breath every 20 min) you could return to a car park in half of the time (easy). It was supposed to be a pleasure not really an "achievement". All i had to remember was the "car park ticket". I've seen ur playlist. I can see you follow the best - Alex, Chai & Jimmy. Well done.

@noexpirydate5208 Thanks for your comments. My energetic hiking/climbing days are over as you will have ascertained by my comments. A month after that Crib Goch hike, I hiked down the North Rim of Grand Canyon, camped, and out the next day. That was knackering. Utube is my saviour now.

Respect! I have a fear of heights so I doubt I'd ever be able to do that. I walk the Shropshire hills a lot and it's taken time for me to be be able to do certain paths. Small steps often and safely. Maybe one day

Hi Alex. Thanks mate, appreciate your comment. Small steps, bit by bit - wise thinking. Having said that - have u ever though about "Striding Edge" (i am sure if you take it slowly and follow others on that route - you should be able to tick another "box" on your list).

How long did it take you in reality please. Pen-y-Fan and Crybin is about my limit...

Hello mate. I was actually fairly accurate with my description at the end of this video. Started at Pen-y-Pass around 8 am and as soon as i completed Crib Goch , got to the "copa summit" stone and quickly joined PYG Track to come down. I did not go to the summit (been there many times). I must admit the initial plan was to come down via Miner's Track (not PYG) but i went a bit too far on the PYG - and it would have been tricky (and time consuming) to come down lower and re- join Miner's again. Having said that - going down via Miner's Track (pretty much flat all the way from the lake) would easily allow for much quicker walk. Maybe i could save further 20-30 min ? Got back to Pen-y-Pass 2 min after 12 midday. Literally 4 hours return, which is nothing special at all but i was not rushing, it was not the plan. My video was only 14 min compiled footage as it gets boring to watch 30 min (or more), so 10-15 min max for me. That day i had serious doubts i will enjoy the "knife edge" purely because brilliant weather and suspected CROWDS to pass by .... not easy on a Crib Goch. To my surprise it was great, completely different than expected but i was there early. Thanks
