    • @NowhereMan7
      @NowhereMan7 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@robertnesfield6321 I dont understand what that means. A treasure for sure - he developed some strong singing & songwriting skills as well as instrumental skills becoming very talented, especially by the time he was in Manassas (who have a song called the treasure now that it comes to mind). What do you mean about "hidden" though? The songs he wrote had his credit on them. I once read that at the very beginning for songs like Mr Tambourine Man, they actually got session musicians to play the track due to the Byrds' relative incompetence on their instruments. It was just the Byrds vocals on the track so he could even be getting credit where its not due in some peoples view.

      @@NowhereMan7 I was talking mainly about his bass playing. He really didn't develop into a songwriter until after GC left the band.

    [Chorus]I think that maybe I'm dreaming
    [Verse 1]I smell cinnamon and spices
    I hear music everywhere
    All around kaleidoscope of color
    [Verse 2]Maids pass gracefully in laughter
    Wine-colored flowers in their hair
    Last call from lands I've never been to
    [Verse 3]Suns flash on a sort of prism
    Bright jewels on the ladies flashing
    Eyes catch on a shiny prism
    [Verse 4]Hear ye the crying of the vendors
    Fruit for sale, wax candles for to burn
    Fires flare, soon it will be night fall

    A mesmerizing song that takes one back to an incredible place in time. Eric Burden referenced this Byrds song's phrase, "I think that maybe I'm dreaming" in The Animals' song "Monterey", where he used it when vividly recalling his and The Animals' recent performance and experiences at the Monterey Pop Festival in 1967, where the Byrds also played.

      Calling Younger Than Yesterday their best album is hardly a hot take. Its always been a popular opinion. Some rate Notorious a little higher, some rate 5D the best but most of the time, in music magazine polls and so - on its Younger that Yesterday at number one.

    Except for perhaps one track (Mind Gardens), this was an astonishingly great album. It was too short by one or two tracks, one of which could have been It Happens Each Day. Columbia always shortchanged The Byrds albums by at least a song or two. One thing that blows me away is Chris Hillman's bass playing, such as here and on Everybody's Been Burned.
