What an intelligent and hard working man you are. Really enjoyed your video. The world needs more men like you!!!
We’re all over! most of us just don’t film it lolz
This video was nothing short of amazing. Your granddad cracked me up 😂 him talking about you not liking eggs, the worm / snake, and then the bird upset with you because you wouldn't get out of its way. Let's NOT forget the Mega trellis ❤. Loved it!!!
I can’t imagine how long editing took for this video. Thank you WiI. I always enjoy your content!
Took awhile for sure, glad you’re enjoying!
I absolutely enjoy the knowledge you share in this video. It’s my first time watching your channel. I LOVE the sounds of nature and the quietness of your video. Learning so much from you . Great shots … I’m a Granny from Washington state and I could watch your content all day long ! God bless you
Glad you’re enjoying! Best to ya
You make all your hard work look easy, and what you have all built at R&R is nothing short of incredible. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you 🙏
What a great video, it was awesome seeing the seasons and chores change. You sure have a love of gardening and make it look easy. I know how much work it takes, but you look like you enjoy what you do. Great watching your content, you are definitely a very talented hard working guy.👍
Thank ya! Glad you enjoyed!
Thank you for sharing your journey !
I grew up on 5 1/2 acres with a large garden , farm H and a bucket loader , saw mill , chainsaws , honey bees , you name it .
Turning 55 now and just enjoying watching your videos
That’s a lot of what I wanna do here, glad you’re enjoying
My goodness....what a beautiful life. Lots of work, but so rewarding. What a lucky dog, too! So loyal and living a great life!
life is good indeed :)
Congratulations to you all on this Milestone! I started watching when you started renovating the blue camper. I watch it daily and patiently wait for the next video. I'm hooked. God bless you all!!
Telling Your cat "you have a puffy tail" hahaha !! That just made my morning hearing that !! I talk to my birds like that. Hahahahaha!! Thank you !!
You can make plant tags out of aluminum soda or beer cans, by cutting off the ends, cut through the rest of the can, flatten, and cut tags to size, then engrave.
That’s a good idea, thank you
Enjoying your videos. Thank for from a SC grandma on the eastern side growing my groceries too. 😊
It’s the only sane way! Glad you’re enjoying :)
This video was so enjoyable, Going to have to watch again. I grew up on a farm in SE MO, my dad did everything himself, he planted all kinds of fruit and nut trees, we foraged berries, had a garden, berries & asparagus too. He fixed all his equipment when it needed repairs, he grew up during depression. This video 'took me back' because I remember foraging for dew berries and muskadines. Your puggle is living his best life, what's its name? I love pugs. I had so many favorite parts of the video, but the mega trellis stood out. You are so hard working and full of ingenuity. Also enjoyed the shots from Jess & Miah's farm. It is obvious you are a blessing to many - so hard working and intelligent. Thanks for the vlog.
Thank you for the kind words, your grandfather sounds like a man I would've liked to have known.
The dog is a puggle, but we also call her puggle, lolz, her real name is Janie
The viewer audience is edified more by your videos than by academe. Thank you for sharing your life and knowledge with others who share your values.
Glad you’re finding value :)
Hey awesome video, the part where you were planting melon seeds with the cloud timelapse was amazing. This was the first video to pop into my feed, subscribed, and you have a ton of other content. Everything looks great, thanks for the videos.
Preciate it homie, glad you enjoy
A country boy will survive! 😂 and take care of family! God bless you ❤
Hey, girl, hey! You are SUCH a bust nana! I don’t see how you get it all done. You and your husband are going tge doggone thang! Blessed be!!🙏🏿
Just found your channel. My grandsons just built a raised bed for me. I just planted and covered with netting. Only have quarter acre, enough for some nice raised beds and chickens. Appreciate watching you as I am slowly building strength to take care of my small plot, I thank God for my daughter does most everything, her and the grandchildren.
Quarter acre is plenty, I wish you a bountiful garden & life :)
Im totally blown away with all your hard work and knowledge sir!!! I just watched your one year homestead just work and you’re an amazing young man. Not only working on your place but helping out the elders in the family and community…..that’s rare nowadays……. I just subscribed and I wish you all the best you’re a true role model ……
Nothing to do but get the stuff done! Lots of folks work hard though, you just have to choose to be poor if you want to help the elders lolz. Inflation is insidious to humanity
Just finished up watching the 3 hr. 30 min. video. I thoroughly enjoyed everything and too numerous for specific parts!! Just amazing and a wealth of information. I’m too old at 70 to ever do these chores! LOL but you are an inspiration to all !
Glad you liked it!
Hello from GA. I have watched this channel for a year and now Pecan Grove. I watch on my tv do i couldn't comment. I have learned so much from you and Wanda and applied the knowledge to my garden. I would love a vergo bed but my beds and buckets will do. Lol. I am 72 and still working part time to buy what i need. Keep praying, blessing and teaching us. Feeling blessed just to be able to watch and listen to you.. .
Absolutely GOAT. Amazing Timelapse and such a gift from God to be able to put in that hard work!
What a compliment! Thank you!
Absolutely loved watching your video. Very calming, relaxing and very interesting! Looking forward to seeing and learning more! You are very good at what you do! Thanks for sharing. 😀🌱
What a wonderful video thank y for sharing good morning 😊
Thank you😊
First time here, I love it! You sure have a trusty side
Kick who knows all about side by side rides!
Congrats on the upcoming addition to your farm/homestead 😊
Sir, your channel and content is so awesome. This is so inspiring. Not sure how discovered your podcast but I'm glad I did. Every morning around 3am to 4am I awake to your channel giving me strength to move towards my goals and dream on homestead and permiculture life style for my family and myself as well. Thank you.
That’s really good to hear my friend.
My best advice I think would be not to burn yourself out. Permaculture is a lesson in low time preference. It takes years to fill a plate when you’re doing things this way. But it will all work out more than you could of ever imagined as soon as you start to feel your efforts are futile!
I wouldn’t want it any other way.
Best to ya!
You remind me of my step dad. He was a hard worker. Loved to garden. He grew so much , he would feed the neighbors. I have a muscadine vine growing and i seen how you did the trellis. Thanks for the tip. Ive learned so much watching this video. Just found you. So im subscribing so i can learn more. Thank you and God bless!
Your step dad sounds like a good man. I’m glad you enjoy, thank you - I hope you get lots of value :)
What a great life you’ve made. Such a great time for you and your wife. Your family must be very proud. Your little puggle dog is a great one.
Life is good! Later this year we’ll have a little one to share it with!
You have managed that Farm tremendously
That's so exciting - if you need a "garden-granny" to join your family, I would fit right in! @@HoneybeeHollowGardens
Congratulations @@HoneybeeHollowGardens
I'm so happy to see
ya'll!! Love learning your Homestead life hacks because your well versed and experienced..❤ hello from Washington..😊
I am so thankful to have found your channel. Love how you educate. So great to see groups up garden design and using materials off the land. Thank you so much. Ok. Next time you sharpen your chain saw can you kindly talk us through what you are doing and using to get that sharpening done. I am watching from central Canada and so thankful that you are sharing your skills and lifestyle with us. I will watch you regularly
Glad you’re liking everything! Chainsaw sharpening is a skill everyone seems to disagree on lolz. I’d recommend getting a file sized from a repair shop, they’ll probably show their method as well when you’re there
Boss, great stuff. Tons of ideas for the normal folks.
Thank you, I hope some of it will work out well for you!
I can't believe I warched the whole thing!
Loved it too!
I remember watching throughout the year, and now seeing it all over again was great!
It was a good year.
👍
A good half year! Other half will be out soon
Geesh, that was a long one. I couldn't even hazard a guess as to how much editing went into that. It was a fabulous "flick" to watch while gathering my seeds for starting tomorrow. 🥰
happy seed starting!
What a lovely way to spend a Sunday morning. ❤ as far as the sugar scrubs fir your hands, you could do like Marty Rainey does and use your hands as your resume.😂
Good idea lolz that’s what bakers & chefs do with the scars on their arms
I have the same Evening Primrose growing wild all over my S.C. yard. Baking sourdough chocolate chip muffins while watching your video. Wonderful way to spend a very chilly Sunday.
Sounds like a great day 👌🏽
Always enjoy. When you were tilling for the potatoes, that was an amazing tool that used your drill. Show us this closer, please.
It’s called a Tilther, Johnny’s makes this one. There are a few videos on TH-cam demonstrating it
Your hard work is sure paying off. You and Taylor have a beautiful home.
Slowly but surely, thank ya!
Oh my goodness... 42:18 hit me a little personal. I was tired last night and tried to start our first fire of the winter and had no KINDLING!! I have got to do this TODAY!!
Such hard work. Keep your body well nourished and healthy. 😻
Just had a back injury this week… lots more stretching in 2024
Great content again! Thank you
Love it❤❤❤
I sure did enjoy watching your video
I wish my homestead was as far along as yours
Comparison is the thief of joy! I've been working on it quite awhile, with time & effort you'll get there & it'll be your own thing in the end :)
This was amazing,I learnt a lot,Thankyou Will.
This is so relaxing ❤
Thanks!
Thank you!
You are such a hard worker.
Not more than your average Joe I don't think, but thank you for the acknowledgment
Uhave done a lot of work that was awesome
I literally set this on for the full video while I did my garden planning over coffee this morning. Thank you. Peaceful!
P.s. I also took notes from you as well. Keep it comin'
Glad you enjoyed! Happy garden planning!
@@HoneybeeHollowGardens 😎❤️
I must be tripping but this looks like Roots and Refuge farm down to a T! Layout animal barn etc. Make it make sense!
Lolz go back to the beginning and read the opening statement
So much for a wonderful video today
That’s cold Grandma Sandy
Roots to refuge told me about your channel.
We are trying to do a small garden in Eastover South Carolina.
We have gotten 20 truck loads of wood chips from Right Way tree service in one year
Nice I used to test a lot of soil for septic systems out in Eastover
i love
Wonderful video Will. ❤
Thank you
"You ain't right."
LOL ❤ 🍳
He was offended
@@HoneybeeHollowGardens 🤣 I know, I still think it's funny that he said it.
I love this! ❤❤❤
Glad you’re enjoying:)
@@HoneybeeHollowGardens I'm in cold Southwest Michigan. Just got dug out after all the snow we've had. So I watch your videos and drink my coffee and dream about Spring 🌞
yo so excited that you started filming and i got you early! cant wait to see where it goes im starting a budget plan to save for my small homestead now,im only 24 but tired of having to rely on people, gov, etc
Me too homie, welcome.
Excellent video. Editing must have taken a long time. Great work!
Quite a few hours for sure, thank ya!
Hi I'm just starting to watch your channel, I think that it will be a good idea to do like a plataform to keep the shelter above the ground, that wil helps tremendously specially to clean it up and collect the straw, just an idea 💡 have a blessed day is too bad that you are dealing with that problem because overall everything else looks very neat😊
good video
Preciate it homie
We need to ask Justin them to get you and Taylor a massage gift card for extra effort LOL❤
Yeah you need one after an earth moving day
What do you use the worms for? Just finished watching and I enjoyed every minute! Thank you for sharing your life with us Will. The clouds you have down there are something else. Here in Newfoundland and Labrador Canada where I am from I don't remember seeing clouds like you guys get. Awesome!!! Take care and stay safe Will.
Thank you, but yeah all the clouds seem to accumulate on the southeastern part of the US, so we get a lot of extreme precipitation events
We use the worms for vermicompost, a staple in all my compost teas
Thank you so much for getting back to me!@@HoneybeeHollowGardens
The cloud formation tho
Great video and educational, Can an old upright freezer be use to start worm compost? So worms that you have in freezer don’t air? I definitely want to try this but don’t want to kill my worms.
Sure. The air concern shouldn’t be a big deal as long as you don’t fill it up completely. If you open it during the warm afternoons every now and again they should be fine
🖤🖤
When your camera is setting near a singing bird, my cat goes crazy! Loving your life of loving growing things. Me too! I need more info on mushrooms. Where did you learn about them?
Oh my God, that cat on the clothes line, she looks so much like my cat I lost last year to the coyotes. Gorgeous tortoise shell kitty.
TH-cam, mostly. I also took a class
Will you're a very hard-working man I know how it takes to prop them crops and you're not using Machinery hope you're doing well and not hurting
I move much slower than the time lapse may suggest! Also lots of yoga, ice baths & epsom salt baths - I do slack on the yoga occasionally though
Lordy Jess
Jaspn did any of the pea chicks make it this last time?
Do you have any experience with planting field peas and oats as a cover crop? I bought a 5 pound bag from Johnny's a few years ago. I have an area where 9 giant pine trees used to be, where I'd like to suppress weeds and have an alternative to grass. Right now it is wood chips from the pine tree stumps cut down years ago surrounding three big peach trees a few mulberry trees and thornless blackberries in a couple spots next to the peach trees... and some raised beds and there used to be a bunch of poison ivy and virginia creeper, euonymous was pulled out. Will I make a mess if I broadcast seeds here? I'd also like to put them in the raised beds for nitrogen fixing and was thinking of keeping them cut low but not terminating them to have as a permanent mulch around summer crops I'd transplant in in late April. I'm in SC zone 8 in the upstate.
I've thrown out cover crops here & there, nothing really stays around for too long except vetch. It really depends on your plans for the area, if you're doing perennials, sure, throw out cover crops the first few years. When succession happens most annuals won't persist for too long anyways, here in the Southeast the land will naturally succeed to forest. I just try to direct what type of forest I want to have
@@HoneybeeHollowGardens>Thanks for your thoughts. I just have a 1/3 acre subdivision lot which has undergone a lot of changes in the past 10 years or so . I'm just trying to as naturally as possible (with a view to utilizing as many Permaculture methods as possible conducive to this area) to work towards a backyard and partial front yard "food forest". Cover crops are new to me but it seems like they could solve a lot of issues I'm confronted with. I just didn't want them to grow out of control and create more of a problem.
>After I wrote my initial comment. I called Johnny's Selected Seeds to ask them what they thought, since I got the seeds from them, and told them my concerns and how I thought I'd deal with them and they gave me the green light to proceed with caution.
>Thanks for your inspiring yet relaxing videos and thanks for the occasional subtitle explanations. They seem to come just when they are needed.
Where's the county mulch facility? I'm in the Piedmont area also
Newberry Country, on highway 34 by Bill & Fran's
What/how do you do for pest control aka mice, rats, ants, etc ?
Cat for mice, my redbone hound actually digs up at least a dozen moles a year, although they're still an issue from time to time.
Ants I just live with, they're actually miracle soil structure builders, I'm sure to always have plantain nearby though. Plantain will make the bites go right away.
Are you planning to get a fruiting variety of Quince?
Yes I have a few, pineapple quince and crimea quince I think
What does a sugar scrub do after pulling weeds?
Weeding dried out your hands because you’re touching soil so much. Sugar scrub gets the dirt out of any dry cracks that develop. Lard is best at preventing dry skin at all though
@@HoneybeeHollowGardens awesome, good to know thanks 😊
Who has 3 1/2 hours to watch a vid?
Looks like 290,000 people
Your funny!!! ❤❤❤
I fell asleep with my phone in my hand. When I woke up, it was over. Honestly, it's better to make this movie into half-hour episodes. Greetings from Poland
@@ppatot I did do that, watch the ‘life of a permie’ series
why do u have worms in there?
For vermicompost
My hubby and I are enjoying your videos...but Sir please wear safety glasses...you're makin' me nervous.
Sorry! I’ll do better lolz sometimes I can’t find a pair!
Poor soil ? Looks like Georgia scrub pine country...
We are in the Carolina slate belt so it’s a shallow layer of clay then bedrock. Sand land is 30 miles south. There is a big pine industry here & my soil was pretty bad due to that
@@HoneybeeHollowGardens Looks like it. In GA we used goats to clear the scrub and horses to fertilize the plots.
Would be good if you did not have to read all the why throw.
You don’t have to
