is it different for boys hair? i mean we can wear more hats and beanies (tho not in sumr.) i think using an electric trimmer after to shape, just tricks ppl into thinking it was cut fine. i have a trifold mirror. but foing the back it still hard. gr8 vid. _JC

My wife is unwell asked me to help with her hair. Your guide was just what I was looking for after seeing a few on here. It made perfect sense how to do and she not only now looks lovely but has probably lost a few pounds in weight from the hair I removed!!! ;) Thanks girl!

I did it!!! When I cut my first section, I freaked! But there was no going back. After I finished one side, I was so excited about how good it looked, I couldn't wait to do the other side! I'm so happy with the results! I only did 2 sections on each side and spaced out the cuts on each section to about 4-5 inches. I have waist length hair. I'm so happy I don't need to chop my hair to remove some weight! THANK YOU!!!

I don't think I've ever actually commented on a TH-cam video before but I just wanted to let you know this video saved me from so much frustration during quarantine. I have SUPER thick hair and whenever I've gone a significant time without a cut and thinning my hair sheds like crazy and takes forever to dry. This video was so great. I started doing this two months ago- You have literally saved me so much time stress and energy!! I have the thickest hair, even when I get a haircut, it thickens after two weeks and becomes heavy, unable to style. Ever since I started using the shears, I haven’t needed to get a haircut and my hair is FINALLY starting to grow! It was nerve wracking at first but now I actually enjoy the process. Thank you for sharing ❤️😇

Thank you so much for this video. I actually went through and did the technique 3 times through my hair and it feels a million times better. My hair is extremely thick and needed a good de-bulking. I normally am at the salon every 3 months and I feel like stylists never take out as much as I want them to so it's nice to have control of the weight myself now! Perfect for quarantine too!

Omg! You are incredible! All the hairdressers are closed and I’ve had bad experiences with them before. My hair grows very slowly and they cut off three inches! So this helped me so much. I can’t tell the difference in looks but it’s at least two pounds lighter. I was scared when I made the first cut but after it was so nice! I’m definitely going to be doing this when my hair is too heavy!

    • @MJ-gj6mj

This is great! I am currently growing out my hair to it's natural colour and grey. I have managed to layer my hair nicely but it's soooo thick I end up looking like a mushroom because the old hair was bleached (now dyed to match my natural) I know I need to take some weight off. I too get a sore head if I put my hair up for too long or if it isn't thinned. This is a perfect explanation - time to order my thinning scissors! Thanks for the great, easy to follow instructions =)

Have used this method for 2 summers now.. had left a message earlier on this video as well. What a game changer this method is! Also the investment on a good pair of thinning shears is so worth it. Not just are you able to extend your next haircut, but the weight from all the hair on your head is minimised dramatically. Thank you soooo much for this video. Can you make a video on how you section ur hair.. that kinda remains a challenge still. Its difficult to manage all the hair by myself.

As a bald man, I normally wouldn't seek out this sort of video :) -- but I have a partner who has thin individual strands of hair very very densely packed across her scalp, and she normally needs an experienced stylist to manage her mane. In quarantine, however, she asked if I could help her thin out her hair, and this exceptionally detailed tutorial is as great as any technical instruction video I've seen on TH-cam. Thank you! Twice now, because of this video, I've managed to thin out her hair but without destroying her beautiful locks.

You're a wonderful teacher! I did this, after a big mess up with thinning shears. I have really thick curly hair so I don't want to go to my hair dresser all the time to have it thinned or trimmed, so I learned it for myself. I'm not a professional but I do good for me. Thank you!

I could understand you very well!! Thank you so much for sharing on how to properly thin out your hair!! My hair is so so thick because I have Filipino in my blood and I get head aches when my hair is so thick, so I started thinning out my own hair because I moved back to my home state and a hair cut is so expensive here it doesn't make sense. I used to spend $25 for a good haircut, shampoo, blow dry and thinking out and styling and here it is almost $80 for that! So I just started doing my own! This video was very helpful! 🥰

Thank you very much for confirming how easy this is. I always thought it's logical not to thin your hair above the chin/face because it ruins the overall quality and the hairs sticking out just look terrible. I've had mine butchered by incomteptant hairdressers twice now. I am definitely getting those scissors and trying it myself.

That is so annoying isn't it?! Especially with what they charge they should know how to properly cut. When this is done right, it doesn't take away from the beauty of thick hair, just makes it more manageable for the person under the head of hair:)

Wow thank you!! It's the first time my strange hair is laying down! Length between chin and shoulders, never wore it open, it's not curly not straight, but i am stunned that it worked! I have those scissors here and never used them until today. Best thing ever, I was always complaining. I was a bit worried since it seemed I cut off a third of my hair but it's still the same (shitty) length, my ponytail is half as thick as before. It's hanging down I can't believe it

This is only the second video I've watched to learn this technique and I'm done, no need for anymore, this was perfect. I was looking for an easy to follow tutorial to learn how to use my new thinning scissors to thin my 12 year old daughters hair, her hair is almost as long and just as thick as yours. I knew the concept of how to do it but I've never actually seen someone use them so I wasn't sure exactly what to do. You answered my biggest question, where to cut and where to leave it alone to achieve exactly what you described as your "safety hair" so that it doesn't look choppy. Also I wasn't sure the proper way to hold the scissors, how high up to start and how many cuts to make. You demonstrated the technique and explained the steps so clearly and strait forward that I feel like an expert now. I thank you and my daughters hair thanks you very much.

Thanks for the beautiful message it means so much to me!!! If you like it keep sharing!!!🤗

I followed your instructions in how to properly thin very thick, coarse, wavy hair and it worked like a charm. All I had to do was slightly trim the back because i thinned that hair a little to much and i layered my bangs and that was it. I really didnt have to do alot of cutting and trimming. I still have my legnth other than that everywhere else except the back.
Thank you so very much for sharing your techniques, I really appreciate it.😃 B.T.W. Congradulations on your pregnancy😃
