@@Towtruck_Dustin ,alot of times & unfortunately they even let non rotow & illegal tow trucks steal both rotow & DARP tows from legitimate towing companies & wrecker drivers....it's ridiculous & half the time the illegal tow trucks overcharge the customer or steal the jobs from the legitimate bodyshops either & are uninsured as well, rather pay a little higher tow rate from a legitimate operator, then use bootleg tow trucks & shoddy bodyshops, not worth it

You don’t need a CDL to drive a light, or medium duty tow truck (GVWR under 26,000lbs). A CDL is only required to drive the heavy duty tow trucks (GVWR over 26,000lbs). In Texas, all you need is a valid class C driver’s license, and a Tow Truck Operator license from the TDLR, of which there are 3 different levels depending on what kind of towing you plan to do.
Woah, watched the video through and checked your channel, would've never guessed you had only 1.76k subscribers! Keep up the great content and I'm sure you'll grow super quickly
The growth the channel has had recently is nothing short of amazing. Never did I think it would take off like this. I appreciate everyone that’s helped get me to this point.
Just want to say very informative video as for someone trying to go into the towing industry. I also have one question could you have used skates to get it on the bed or are blocks the better way to go?
Skates would have also worked, but blocks take less time to put on and off, and since on a police call you generally have a lane or whole road blocked, saving time is the name of the game. Generally I only use skates on higher end cars, but that’s also generally roadside calls when I have more time to play with also.
By the way for ford when airbag blow you need to open the ignition and put the car in in D and back it in park after that the truck will run that’s how to bypass and active the fuel pump again
Wassup dustin. Started your morning off with a bang didnt you. I hope to be moving down that way to sargent before too long. I sure miss driving a tow truck myself. I started out in 1989 in a single wheel 3/4 ton sling wrecker chasing wrecks and went all the way to 2006 in a medium duty wheel lift truck working for milstead towing outta spring texas
I wanna be a tow truck driver, but when i was little i couldn’t stand car accidents and never(still don’t) want to get in one. I hate the sound of broken car pieces dragging across the road, i don’t know why but its so cringy when i hear it. But now that I’m older, i grew out of it and want to pursue that career.
How fast were they going in a residential area? The distance between the two trucks makes it seem like they were going at least 50 mph. The damage says about 30-35 . That would be the usual separation for speed and damage I've always seen. There have been a few accidents where the distance would be shorter with higher speeds and greater damage. What gets me is the lack of tire marks through the grass. Something is seriously fishy with this accident.
Just subscribed. going through the library and pop ups. just funny you are a red truck picking up the white ford and had a with truck picking up the red ford
Depends on what want to do. To run the light and medium duty trucks all you need is a normal driver’s license and a tow operator license. To run the heavy duty’s you’ll need a CDL and the tow op license.
You’ll have to ask around but most insurance companies won’t pick up anyone under the age of 25 for commercial towing insurance. So most companies can’t hire you until 25
@@Towtruck_Dustin that makes sense. I really want to get my cdl I have a company in mind and they hire and train people under 21 so hopefully I can get into that I know it’s a few stipulations and rules for cdl holders under 21 but hopefully it’ll work out.
My daughter's bf is 21. He got his tow license for the state of Virginia. He has to wait until he is 25 to tow out of state. The insurance is also problematic as to the type of tows he can do.
Nice work! Garbage bags are great for clean ups. Sup with that fishing pole 🎣 on the bed??? Let me find out you get fishing breaks instead of lunch breaks 😂
if a ford doesnt run but clearly looks the engine is okay could just be the inertia switch preventing the engine from turning back on from accidents. if only it was quickly accessible lol
I do. But the time that it takes to hammer them under the tires isn’t worth it on an accident scene. Plus the tires were already on the bed, so they slide easy any way.
when towing a vehicle with full coverage why does it matter ware it is towed to customers home or you're lot ? Only difference seems to be storage charges it should still be covered
Because if I drop it at the location of their choosing, be it home or a repair facility, they have to pay out of pocket before we drop, otherwise we don’t get payed. If it goes to the yard, insurance pays for it to go to the repair facility, and the customer doesn’t have an out of pocket charge.
You sure thats the reason? Police departments often have a tow company on contract that handles all their tows. Could be why you only see one tow company. The department I worked for had a tow company on contract. They handled all impounds and evidence tows as well as collisions. People could ask for their own tow on collision scenes as well.
That’s pretty much how it is in Houston also. I’m glad we don’t have to deal with chasing wrecks down here. I just listen to the scanner and whenever I hear the record before us get calls, I just listen for the next accident and wait in the area.
You ratchet that front tire the wrong way you should hook your ratchet up to the edge of the bed then put around the tire you got it ratchet going the same way it's going to roll
Doing it like this still stops it from moving both directions. The ratchets are just on the inside rather than the outside. I did it like this because then I won’t have so much tag end of strap to roll up. It’s still strapped down just as effectively.
Wow....!

By walking do you move the truck by the bed or just move the bed?
Moving the truck. You use the bed to lift the rear tires, then push the truck forward and back

Job well done, Originally from Texas what part of Texas is this?
This was in lake Jackson, Texas. Brazoria county.
Just curious as why to put straps instead of chains ? I believe every rollback should have plenty of lumber on it for this reason!
I like straps and ratchets because to me they’re faster and easier to use and store.
Now on anything 3/4 and up I’ll use chains on the rear.
How did the two trucks involved get so far apart from eachother? The white truck didn’t roll backwards
