I am starting cello at 51 years old after playing piano for 20 years. It is so difficult! Your video helped to show me normal progress and I will try to be patient and easy on myself...🙂
Hope you’ve found the channel “Adult Cello.” He has lots of good advice about what to expect of yourself and how to help yourself feel good about your progress. My favorite advice he gives is to pick pieces to learn that are beautiful yet simple. It’s hard to feel good about your progress if you’re always playing nursery tunes, ya know?!
I started when I was 48. I live in a small town and a violin/piano teacher taught me cello for two years. Then she told me she had nothing else for me. So I played, watch TH-cam videos and slogged along ignorantly. I am now living near Las Vegas for 18 months and I'm taking lessons from a professional cellist. It is GREAT and I'm learning a lot. IT'S NEVER TOO LATE.
@@jeffmarett321 have you participated in any quartets? The thing I miss most about band is playing with others (brass band, but I'm considering picking up cello).
Im 12 and so far its been great! I learnt open string pizzicato amd i found it fun especially the bass strings now im moving onto open string bowing hopefully I will move onto actually using the fingerboard soon
Thank you for posting! Your progress is impressive! You are very brave to share your progress and it is very encouraging. I am just beginning to learn - at 63! ❤
As a professional cellist and multi-instrumentalist who has played in many symphonies - I have to tell you this is true talent. You've picked up the skills most people can't, very fast. Keep up the good work!
You playing the Flintstones gave me a flashback to when I started playing in like 5th or sixth grade. Made me tear up a bit lol keep at it you're doing great!!!!
Wonderful! I hope you're able to get back into it! I have a history of piano and have a cello which I hope to get good at one day. Thank you for sharing!
I'm glad that you began with great gusto for playing. I am always learning (because I'm always forgetting 🤫😉😅) I consider that regular playing helps me think
Keep going for it! I've been playing Cello for 10 years and just got my grade 8 exam done (with a pass). Although it wasn't the most fun activity and sometime I had the thought of outright quitting, my parents nagging eventually got me to complete it. Also, amazing technique... I can't say that I have the same bow hold
I hope you make some time to play the cello from time to time. You made such great progress. I envy what you were able to accomplish in such a short space of time. I've had my fifth lesson, but I do not know how to read music yet.
Just great for a year! you learned more than I did in a year!, I was so worried and anxious every moment learning cello in 7th grade! Now I'm in 9th grade! You may as find yourself not sounding great but that's the beauty of cello, its fascinating how much your articulation can improve with practice. I know this video was recording was ages but one word of critique is that your arm and hand is WAYY too stiff.
There are many things you can play on cello! You don't have to play classical pieces if you don't want to. I'm in a string orchestra and we don't play classical music often, just fun interesting music
I'm 12 and I want to learn cello. I hope I can be as good as she was in a month. How long should I practice for to be like that? Some people say it's top late for me to learn
the cello has been my favorite instrument ever since i was little, i’m so excited to finally start learning it, thank you so much for this motivation 🫢😊
Can you do a video where you teach notes I really need to learn them because my orchestra team is year three and I’m year one so it’s very difficult for me to catch up with them and I don’t know notes 😅
Would you mind sharing the names of the pieces you play at each stage? Obviously I know the Flintstones theme, but I'd love to try some of the more beautiful pieces you play
Thanks for sharing your progress. I'm just about to start cello for the 2nd time after playing as a kid (20+ years ago). Your video is inspiring of what just a handful of months can accomplish. Do you know of any good teachers in the Orange County area?
Пожалуйста, если можете, исправьте правую руку. Она очень зажата. А с такой рукой играть быстрые произведения не получится! И еще хотела спросить. Вы самоучка? Удачи вам! У вас очень хорошо получается❤
I'm going to start playing the cello. My instrument is the classical guitar and I have been playing for more than 40 years. I taught myself to play the piano. How much time do you have to spend rehearsing to play the cello?
Hi, sorry for the late answer. This was my highschool graduation year, so learning the cello was not my first priority. I think I practised maybe 2-3 hours a week? I've had a lot of musical education before though, which certainly had it's influence on my progress.
Did you not read that she’s been playing for only (almost) a year? Cello is one of the hardest instruments to learn, even harder for adult learners as we don’t have the developmental capacity of young children. As a musician myself, I found watching her progress absolutely inspiring.

Vibrato 1 month in is amazing
I appreciate the same, too, it encourages exploring good resonance
I’ve been playing cello for 7 years and you are doing so good at one year ❤
Developing an ear for flats and sharps at the very beginning is key. It'll help with every part of your playing.

You're amazing! A hug, from Brazil.

You are very good!! I started with the cello at 25 after studying piano at a conservatory of music, but the beginnings were pretty challenging :)
hope you're still playing, the progress is great! only a year wow, you will be an excellent cellist in the future.
Wonderful! I hope you're able to get back into it! I have a history of piano and have a cello which I hope to get good at one day. Thank you for sharing!
Fabulous progress! Great way to keep yourself inspired too!
Congrats, sister. Very well done 👏
Wow! Good Job - I think I’ll try it as well now 🤩

Nice!P.S.yeah flintstones theme surely caught me of guard
I just hope i can progress at half that rate. Well done.
you can easily! just practice a little bit everyday or at least squeeze in a little time here and there when you can even when you're not motivated!

nice! any update as of 2023 march?
How many hours a day or week did you put in for practice?
I'm thinking of learning cello but not in the classical music.
Your video made me reconsider rily getting one fr.

Your rendition of Scarborough Fair was beautiful!
Thank you so much, happy to hear! :)
It's not a rendition 😂
THATS AMAZING 🥺🥺
The spaghetti monster has blessed me with his presence, thank you!🙇🏻♀️
I can tell the seven month mark is where it clicked for you!

I'm in optional virtual from Temecula Conservatory & I bet there's local music conservatories in OC
So bautiful..Cello always makes me cry. Which piece is month 8? Sounds like Lord of the rings or something familar..
Scarborough Fair - Simon & Garfunkel

I'm no music teacher but I think even if it's just 20 min. a day you'll surely progress. Consistency is key ;)
Ok but can we also talk about the glowup that was happening at the same time 😍
She look like she’s about to die
That's not the point
@@cicithehumanno need to be jealous
@@justme-tz1vf I'm not-
@@justme-tz1vf just that this video is about a cello progress throughout the years, not a glowup
good on you for persevering; please don't sell your cello, someday it may call you home :)
I don't know of any cello teach who would begin to teach vibrato within a month. It just wouldn't happen
May I know how many hours you practice every week to make that progress?😂
Hi as far as I remember it was around 2-3 hours a week :)
How many days a week do you practice and how many hours a day? Excellent evolution. Hail from Brazil :)

but is the cello a 4/4? anyway you are very good congratulations :)
Thank you! The cello is a 7/8. I have relatively small hands so this was the better option for me :)
⅞ths honestly great idea (I have small hands for ⁴/⁴, too
I never play any instrument before start cello now ım in 6th month

She has talent for cello. This is good. @@evieashton8099
@@evieashton8099I did, too. ... I'd be happy with that result a year and a half in.
I love cello
