Hi Fraser, I’m not really one to comment on videos but I just want to say how immensely proud you should be of yourself. This video really pulled on my heartstrings because you seem like a really great asset to this world and I am so incredibly sorry that this is happening to you and your family. You are wearing your heart on your sleeve and you show great bravery and courage. You are very articulate in being able to describe your journey and this will help many people on their own journey. I truly hope your illness takes the slowest path possible, and I am wishing you and your family all the best and please keep sharing. You have gained a subscriber here from London 😊

Thank you so much for such a loving comment. You have made my day. Yes, a slow path would be a good path (although, I'm more than happy for the late stage to go quickly!). Your compassion shows what sort of person you are and the world is definitely a better place with people like you in it 🙏

Question. I am at high risk of dementia secondary to previous history of viral encephalitis. No current diagnosis of dementia and fully functioning. From your experience and visits to doctors, do you think that testing changes any therapy that you have been prescribed? My opinion is that symptoms can and should be managed regardless of the actual diagnosis. What do you think? Thank you.

I'm really in awe of people who have a devastating diagnosis but in the fog of shock and reality they are able to turn it around to help others. It's such a courageous and virtuous thing to do and what a legacy to leave. I have such admiration 🙏❤️

Thanks so much for your lovely comment. To be honest, I'm not experiencing bad symptoms, so it's probably easy for me to do it. At this stage, I just want people (who have been recently diagnosed) know that it's OK to question things and to have it "on your mind". I have a feeling we're all pretty similar to each other in what's going on in our heads.

I’m 73 yrs old. Im so sorry you are going thru this. I’m feeling some of the same issues you have with finding words. I have to shut my eyes and think of a picture of the word or what the word does. It’s hard to explain. Ppl say, “oh yes, I do that too” but I know what I’m experiencing is different. I do it quite often. I had Long Covid last year and had more problems then-not being able to do slightly complex tasks I’d done many times before. I couldn’t make sense of written instructions (I used to write SOPs so this really alarmed me). I’d head to the kitchen to get something (friends interrupt me and say, “ oh yeah, I forget what I’m going after”).I forgot I was even going to the kitchen! I’d don’t even remember later that I was going after something. It’s so frustrating bc everyone dismisses it but I can feel my cognition disappearing. There’s so many things throughout the day that happen-like I can’t remember that I took my pills 5 minutes ago-stuff like that. I’ve found myself even forgetting that I’m driving! I don’t even remember something I’ve done not too long ago. I play along with my family and say “oh yeah, I remember now” but I don’t remember! It’s so scary. I try not to be depressed about it but it’s hard not to be. I worked in a nursing home as a teenager and used to think “I want to go with dementia bc at least they are happy” but I now know to be careful what you wish for. I just want you to know I’m thinking of you and understand some of what you are going thru.

Thank you so much for reaching out. Im so sorry to hear about the struggles you have been going through. I think as you get older the more people dismiss it as being "not that bad" or "yah, I have that" which would be terribly upsetting (it's dismissive). My thoughts are with you mate. Please look after yourself and see a doctor for some advice.

Hi from Melbourne 🐨😊..I've been having problems for ten years (I'm 50).my doctors..tested me I went to a memory clinic and yes they found problems, but told me to come back every two years, I have Rheumatoid arthritis and I agree, we are not in a position to keep pushing...I'm alone house bound and overwhelmed..I get it. I have to write everything down..my doctors have cut me off because of my memory loss and not keeping appointments...they dont think!
Im sorry about the way you found out....shocking.

The last few frames overwhelmed me with warmth. I lost my partner 13 years ago to a different condition which robbed him of cognitive abilities in the final months. I want to be very protective of you and it elates me to know you have people that fill that role. I am not a psychologist but I perceive that you have an attitude and sense of humor that will help carry you through whatever is to come. There might be dark times, but you are not ready to embrace darkness, as some people might be.

This was incredibly powerful to me. I have an aunt who has been diagnosed with alzheimers last year, and this helped me understand what she's going through. We live far apart so I have only seen her once since her diagnoses, and while I know logically what she's going through, I didn't truly understand what she's going through. I still don't really. But this video has definitely helped me. I think I'll tell my uncle about this video and this channel. I think it would help him too, and he would know better than I if it would be good for my aunt as well. Thank you, and I hope you find strength and peace to help you on your journey.

Thank you for this video, I appreciate the effort you went to with this video, both due to your memory issues and noisy environment meaning you had to refilm it so many times!!
I'm so sorry for how you found out the results of your scans, and how you didn't hear it from your doctor. I actually found out about my own terminal diagnosis the same way! My neurologist sent me to a specialist, to get the specialists opinion on the condition my neurologist thought I had. Though the neuro didn't tell me that, he just said its for a 2nd opinion. Then I got sent the letter from the specialist, which was supposed to be sent to my neurologist, which confirmed my diagnosis. I googled it, and the first sentence in Google said that it's a terminal disease, and one that shuts down your muscles, organs and brain with no known treatment. Only symptom relief... I knew something serious was going on, but I was kidding myself that they'd find out what it was, give me a tablet and I'd be fine! But sadly not. I say all that not to overshadow your video and diagnosis but to tell you that I've been through the same thing, and I completely understand the feeling of first reading something like that and your body and mind just goes into a meltdown
I'm glad you have your partner's support, and I saw in another comment that you're on meds to slow progress. I'm interested in following your journey, as someone with their own terminal disease which is now affecting my brain and how it functions (though for me, uncontrollable seizures are what is causing the most damage unfortunately)

The medical system in the US is difficult to navigate also. Patients just get shuffled around and often get lost in the system unless they are able to advocate for themselves or have someone to assist them. It’s unfortunate.

While dealing with long haul COVID-19, I had dementia like symptoms for almost a year. The frustration of dealing with a brain that's taken a hike is hard to describe, because you are aware that your recall is out the window. I've learned to laugh at it, and to just take it in stride. Not every day was a bad day, and there were days when I just stayed home.
Two years later, I'm experiencing recall that seems quite normal.

I will not be embarking on dementia journey via healthcare. Here in USA it’s chaos.
I am 68 and knew from a relatively young adult age I was at increased risk for dementia . An undisclosed head trauma I sustained as a two year old..landed me on a different path through life. I faced early on the possibilities. My grandmother who I took on two long trips as she was descending into Alzheimer’s made me aware by age 20. My mother developed a form of dementia in her 70’s.
I am grateful that health issues that I have had for decades led me to benefit from Vitamin D. I have since added magnesium. Years on lithium for my head trauma is turning out to also be a benefit.
All this to say..self awareness and lack of apprehension about my destiny have really helped. To date my health issues do not include cognitive impairment. But I am knowing the world of cognitive decline could be mine. So every day I value! ✅

Hi mate, highly recommend you look into the research of Dale Bresden. 80%+ of dementia is related to diabetes, if you optimise your diet and practice things like fasting & IF you'll probably find improvement, also lots of eggs & cholesterol for your brain tissue & myelin. Also don't take any state recommended injectables they certainly don't help.

Hi Frazer, please get your family and doctors to look in to metformin, just remember it goes with with food. Taking it can affect b12 levels .. so get the levels checked every 6 months if you take it. You can get b12 injection if the b12 is low.

My MIL who's 67 has been having dementia symptoms for 3-4 years now. But she won't get tested she won't even go if she thinks that you're taking her to get tested for dementia. We've tried everything because it's getting dangerous for her to be driving and she can barely walk anymore because that's one of the things that started happening to her 3 years ago. A lot of these symptoms come from either covid or vaccine complications, both cause circulatory problems, and that can be especially noticeable in a brain or other organs with moderate blood supply (like kidneys or heart). As a nurse of 40 years I am noticing similar issues with majority of my patients of all ages. I would focus on natural vitamins and supplements increasing blood circulation in the body while also hydrating adequately. Cardio exercises as well. We all need to pay more attention to these new problems for sure.
