Director Joe Dante is famously known for his love for the odd and obscure. He made movies, which took not only influence on moviegoers at the time but became prominent examples of moviemaking of the 1980’s and 90’s: Gremlins 1+2, Explorers or Innerspace. Also, the 1989’ “The ‘Burbs” is a fantastic example of such. A deadly funny plot, fantastic performances by the entire cast and a very important element of most of Dante’s work: the music by Jerry Goldsmith. The composer put very much effort into all his works for the director; very present into-your-face music, formed with wild orchestrations and odd sound design and on the other side subtle and emotional scoring. A unique style, where you immediately will notice, that you are dealing with a Goldsmith / Dante collaboration. Enjoy this great example of the rare case of a perfect collaboration between director and composer!
One the best movies ever
You know it is going to be a good weekend when Fred presents another superb suite that shows off a composer at his best. Double points because it is Jerry Goldsmith! Good film, great director, excellent score. I love the synth woofs and the "homage" to his earlier "Patton" score. I'm sure I hear some others in there as well! Thanks for the gift, Fred! This one is going to be fun to analyze.
Beautiful performance of this a little threatening yet mysteriously charming suite with colorful yet perfectly united sound of all the instruments. The brilliant composer/conductor leads the highly functional orchestra in various tempi and with utmost effective dynamics. Truly worth listening!

I absolutely love The Burbs! Totally hilarious movie with wonderful Tom Hanks in the lead, and Carrie Fisher as good wife! Such nosy neighbors, they're nossyness gets them in hot water! Fabulous soundtrack to this! Thanks so much for uploading it! What a treasure! As I hear the music, I can almost see what they're up too! So funny! If you've never seen this classic movie, I would definitely recommend it! 👍👍😜😜😂😂🎼🎼
Wunderschöne Interpretation dieser ein bisschen bedrohlichen doch mysteriös bezaubernden Suite mit farbenreichen doch perfekt vereinigten Tönen aller Instrumente. Der geniale Komponist/Dirigent leitet das hoch funktionelle Orchester in verschiedenen Tempi und mit möglichst effektiver Dynamik. Wahrlich hörenswert!
