Thanks for the video! Other then the USS Laffey DD-724 this is the best exhibit of a pre-NTDS CIC I have seen so far. I served on the USS Dahlgren DLG-12 before she was converted to NTDS back between 1970-72 and work all of these systems on cruises to the Med in 1970 and the North Atlantic in 1971. I steamed in the battle groups of "many" aircraft carriers on those two cruises. The NC2 plotter as was tied to the ships gyro as was the Dead Reckoning Tracer table (DRT) which was used more for surface contacts. It showed the ships actual position and all the contacts were relative to the ship. I do not remember us having a ASCAC center and "yes" CIC could get pretty hectic to say the least... My second ship USS Richmond K Turner DLG-20 which I served on between 1972 and 1973 was NTDS which I had to go back to C school to learn the systems and my rate changed from RD to OS. The trouble was that that system was so new at the time that hardly any other ships had it so it was rare that we could link up with another ship that had it as well, and when we did there were so many bugs in the system we ended up going back to processing information the old fashion way. The eventually got the bugs worked out from what I understand but not before I got out. To this day when someone askes me what my rate was when I served I tell them I was an RD!
Very informative 👌👌
