Great tests!!!... thanks for pointing out the importance with the the closing for the cage!...now we can understand why some cages had a stew on the top to avoid opening unexpectedly.
I have an X2. I tripped while filming and the camera lens struck a metal utility box as I fell down, hard (my head just missing the box corner). The X2 lens had a mark on it which wiped right off. I had to send the camera in for repair only because the stitch line had been thrown out of whack. Otherwise, the lens was fine. It takes quite a bit to damage the lens apparently. But you may have undamaged lenses and need to have it repaired anyway.
The new utility cage for the X4 looks rubbish, that clip is really insecure. The cage for the X3 with the screw closure was much better, I hope they bring that back in an updated version. Otherwise, I'm impressed with the lens guards, they seem to do the job as intended (apart from occasionally falling off!). Could you do the same tests with the standard lens guards maybe? As most people seem to be saying the standard lenms guards result in better picture quality it would be nice to see how well they hold up to some proper abuse. Cheers 🙂
I had just bought my X4 camera. and had only done some indoor tests with it. and the first time I new I was going outside with it I put on the standard lens guards and the rubber half case that came with the camera. and then I mounted it to my bicycle handlebars. and I had just started my bike ride and I wasn't going that fast and my front wheel hits a small pit in the road. and the handlebar mount snapped and I watched my new camera go tumbling down the street. so then I stopped and picked up the camera and to my amazement there wasn't the slightest mark on the camera itself. but one of the lens guards had a couple of scratches on it. so now I need to buy new lens guards. and I am surprised how expensive those standard plastic lens guards are. Insta probably makes them for five cents each. and the glass lens guards are even more money. but are supposed to be better image quality so I guess I will buy those. on a side note. I don't know why the mounting eccessories for these camera aren't break proof so you can go down bumpy streets without having anxiety about your camera bouncing down the street. because the main reason I bought the camera was to mount it to my motorcycle. where I will be riding allot faster than I was on my bicycle. and I want it extended with the selfy stick so the mount has to be even stronger. but so much of this stuff is just plastic crap.
The proper motorcycle mounts are really well made and they do a dual mount as well which you can use with a selfie stick - it acts as a brace for safety and attaches to the bike and then grabs the selfie stick further up. Use it with the motorcycle mount.
@@EatSleep360 I thought I got off easy with one scratched lens protector. but I just went to take off the plastic lens protectors and suddenly realized that they are no longer on the X4. which means they both popped off when the camera went tumbling on the street. and that it is my lens on the camera that is scratched. very first time using my bran new camera on my bicycle. what good are mounts that easily break and lens protectors if they just pop off in a low speed drop. I'm so pissed off that my bran new camera has a badly scratched lens. now I'm wondering how I'm going to get it fixed in the country I'm in. and how much it's going to cost me. and the time dealing with it. my opinion of the X4 has just gone way down.
I bought a premium lens guard but returned it because it was loose. Other Amazon shoppers reported the same thing. I use the X4 on a bike, and I'm afraid the constant shaking would shake it off. Did I buy a bad one are all like this? The cheap one fits tight.
Im not a fan of the connection design and did notice a difference in looseness after connecting and reconnecting several times and that after an impact it became looser. It should at least be tight to start with but this may have been the reason it came off in the video. It needs a better connection design for sure.
They’re better because they are glass which makes it easier to clean them and have them looking like new. With the plastic ones they are great out the box but seem to mark so easily and never clean up as well.
Nice test! I use the standard lens guards which are sufficient in my use case I believe. That cage however is pretty disappointing. I have a cheap knockoff that you can screw shut. Not the best quality but the cage that you're using is not that much better from the looks of it. Thanks for the test!
If you dont use a lense gard could you replace the original lense? The ibsta 360x3 is si crap when they made it .. ive seen the new lense gards are plastic and sone gave a bad glare
You can replace the lens but it’s very expensive and you have to send it away. The premium lens guards are best but you’ll still get glare especially in bright sunlight
Hey Eat Sleep 360! Oh the humanity! I am 6'2' tall and have whacked my oneR on many low hanging branches without any damage! I am surprised and slightly disappointed that we did not see how the chip on the lens effected the images and video from that that poor camera! Ride ride ride!
Dang, that's hard to watch but thanks for making this great sacrifice! I be more worried about that nice big display cracking, I have a glass protector on mine.
volvo kadar sağlam değil :) x3 kameramı motosikletten düşürdüm lenslerde derin çizikler oluştu. hızım 15-20 km arasıydı yani bir bisiklet hızında kırıldı :( x4 premium lens koruması güven vermedi açıkçası. Test için Teşekkür ederim.
Yes my lens guards didn’t break but had scratches. I think scratch resistant must mean if you put them in your pocket against keys or other items but not hard falls.
That said, I've already had a lens guard mysteriously disappear during a motorbike ride to work. I don't think they clip into position securely enough.

Informative for us X4 owners, but hella entertaining too. Nice one, mate!
please! make a video tip to reduce flare ( use lens guards )
How is the video quality afterwards with the lens? Are they any good after each tests? Do you just wipe some of it off?
Hallo ,in your opinion, these lenses are worth it?Thanks

Cool 😊. Does it work in water? Or does it take water in the lens?
No not in water unfortunately

From a pix quality standpoint r the premium better than std lens guards?

Yeah a cage with screw thread is better than the insta one I was using

I always watch your videos. But this time I had to look the other way!
Very much thank you for this video ❤❤❤
🤙🏽🤟🏽🤙🏽
*The video we needed,* as always!
That looks like a proper stalker on the side of the road filming the car drop test. I’d steer well clear of him.
Haha yeah he turns up there every few years

Nice video
This was brutal to watch! I'm super careful with my X4
