Sorted my airbag/service lamp, separated both under-seat plugs and sockets, sprayed both with electrical cleaner and let them dry 5mins, re-connected squeezing them tight after pushing the slide back-in, airbag/service lamps now out. Now I know that's where the problem is if it re-occurs I'll remove the plugs/sockets and solder the wires. Thank you for the vid, appreciated ;)
Here's another delightful Megane II airbag story. Its an rs225, after months of misery, new steering rack, dual mass flywheel and clutch, windscreen, airbag squib, throttle body etc i smugly sat in the cabin full of joy after finishing my pig of a clutch job. Glanced under the steering wheel and for the first time noticed ooh! The steering wheel's height adustable, never noticed before as the lever is off centre. Made the fatal error of, well fatal in the Renault world of simply adjusting the steering wheel height to the upper position. And guess what everyone, yep! Airbag and service light come on! Aaaaaaaahhhhhhh!!! Took the wheel, squib everything off, made sure all connections were disconnected, then firmly reconnected, light stayed off!! Idled the car for ages and it never came on!whereas it was coming on and off instantly previously. Came back to the car three hours later, lights on again!! Took a major huff and rammed steering wheel down to the lower position, light is off! For how long though? Answers on a postcard......
Hi, Gerard. Did you have to reset the airbag ECU error codes after completing this? If so, is it possible without an external diagnostic device (i.e. with pressing and holding the control button behind the steering wheel, as one would do after changing oil)?
+Irfan Kahvedžić on the 2003 model megane, the error codes do not need to be cleared with a diagnostics machine, at least not when its something like an open circuit fault. If the airbag ECU needed replacement, that is when a diagnostic computer is required. So when I repaired the open circuit fault under the passanger seat, one ignition cycle reset the warning light. hope that helps buddy
the rule is to disconnect the negative terminal of the battery for a half hour before disconnecting any airbags/wiring. Fyi I didn't disconnect the battery.
You are correct the wire colours do not align, in order not to mix them up you should make a note of the wiring colour and in position in both the male and female plug. Then solder the matching wire one at a time.

it can be difficult to diagnose the location of the fault, if the warning light comes on when the seat is moved, u got it!

I think what your a saying makes sense, one at a time is a good idea.

Why don't you just fix the connector? Soldering is a good idea, until you need to remove the seat.
