    I recently did carpet bags in the wash on delicate, w a towel, vinegar in the tub and in the softener compartment. Then tumbled dry w a towel on med heat for an hr and they’re ready to go…….no need to soak and wait…..2 hrs and ready to throw, still a super cheap option. Love the vids…..keep em comin

    to make the bags last longer as I live down south. After i soak them I just lay them outside to air dry for 2-3 hours. And then I go throw them around. Works great.

    One thing is certain, this method WORKS and is CHEAP AND EASY
    At B3 HQ, I got some 75% concentrated industrial vinegar and have been using a dilution of that when doing dozens of bags at once. Tap hot water in large container, add some high test vinegar, stir, add bags, soak for less than an hour, then I run a double rinse cycle in the washing Machine. After that, tumble on medium until dry. Absolutely game ready and no smell at all.
    Great video Mike, thanks for spotlighting this method!

    I had two sets of non-carpet and two sets of carpet bags (different mfg) that had been conditioned either by mfg or via a bag mfg product that I used mike's process above with great success. It does feel like both the materials and the fills have relaxed giving a less "compacted" hand feel.

    Good to know Mike, I haven't tried this method yet. I have had success with almost boiling water only, leave soak until water is cooled and throw bags in drier on lowest heat for 1 hr. This works on bags that don't need a lot of breaking in.
    For bags that are super stiff, I do the same but add some Downey and once they cool down I rinse them in cold water, then toss in the dryer on lowest heat fir 1 hr. They come out smelling great and soften up pretty darn good. Careful with how much Downey you put, as Mike said there is no going back.

    As someone who just got into cornhole, I was told toss sauce a few hundred times. I got OG. That stuff is useless. I kept trying different methods until I tried white distilled vinegar. It's definitely the best, it's similar to nuked in results but way cheaper and easier.
    IF i have a stubborn bag after the vinegar breakin, I'll also soak them for 20 minutes to an hour in tresume "volume" hair conditioner. But don't do that unless you have a very stubborn bag as it can go too far. If i do this, i also put the bags through the washer in garment bags for safety. The conditioner doesn't leave any residue after.
    Also, with the vinegar, the smell rinses out in like ten seconds. Don't ever let someone tell you it doesn't. They just want to scare you into buying a product that is literally like $450 a gallon lol.

    Great video Mike. I personally have been using 3/4 cup vinegar with a 1/4-1/2 cup of wrinkleguard depending on how scratchy or stiff the fabric is. Wrinkleguard makes all fabrics feel a little softer in hand which I prefer. A good example is a Costello which feels scratchy new. I never use a dryer anymore as carpets were coming out fuzzy. I use shami cloths to get most of the water out and let them air dry suspended on a cookie rack works great but takes more time. My two cents. Keep up the great work!

    I just used this process on my new buffalo sauce bags. The bags broke in perfectly after! But, two days after throwing, two out four bags are busting at the seams. Did you do something different with your sauce bags?

    • @MikesBags
      @MikesBags  ปีที่แล้ว

      This process won't cause the seams to bust open. In fact most break in methods won't cause seams to bust open. The fast side material is known for stretching. Without seeing the bags, I can't say whether it's the seams busting or the material stretching. Buffalo added a liner behind the fast side material to prevent the bags from busting open. The first run of bags they released did bust open and they recalled those. Have you reached out to Buffalo yet?

    • @samuellerch4788
      @samuellerch4788 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The carpet side near the seams is stretching too much is probably a better way of explaining. I did reach out to buffalo and they said that the sauce carpet is more delicate than other bags and that they do not recommend washer to dryer break in process on the sauce. They are sending me another set and I bought the bag butter, so hopefully it will go better this time.

    • @MikesBags
      @MikesBags  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm glad to hear that Buffalo is taking care of it. They have great customer service. I've never had an issue with that carpet and I put every set I get in the dryer. It was probably just a bad section of material.

    Have now done 8 sets of bags with wdv. Most recently Viper R, Psycho R and Widow R. The Viper R came out perfect-1hr soak in 1.5 cups wdv in a gallon of water. The Psycho Rs were still a little stiff after the same and the Widow Rs were good not perfect. At this point I’ll probably re-soak the paychos and let the widows “play in” they’re so close I don’t want to “overcook” them.
    I can tell you that you can “overcook” them with wdv, I did a set of slide rites (backyard party bags) with 2 cups/gallon for 2hrs and the fabric side is like mush.

    • @nbruno121195

      Ok, well I unknowingly overcooked the widow R’s for the league boards that I play on. They are really nice and soft and feel great in my hand but the carpet is soooo slooow now I can’t get them up the board.
      On my boards they’re fine. I think going forward I’ll probably use wdv with shorter multiple soaks

      Yes, I have. I bought 2 sets of bags and I compared 7 different break in methods. The 8th bag was a control bag where I soaked it in hot water for an hour and then tumbled in dryer on low heat for an hour. I had planned to make a video of this process and share my results. I was not satisfied with how the video turned out so I never published it. There was a noticeable difference in this bag compared to all the other bags that had some sort of product used on them. The control bag was not close to being broke in. The products make a huge difference in speeding up the break in process. I plan to do more videos like this using other products. There will be one video where I go over not using any products and how to break the bags in that way.
