She never trusted banks. When she died they found money hidden all over her house. She was a talented seamstress who made a decent living sewing clown costumes for Barnum and Bailey in the 50's and 60's. She chewed tabbaco and loved to watch wrestling matches. She never cut her hair and always wore it tightly in a bun. She was quite the character and I miss her to this day. I would love to see more Native American comics as well as political leaders.

half ojibwe cree and half french finnish :) its hard to balance both out, i love my white side and have learned to love my native side. i am appreciative for my heritage on both sides. i havent been in touch with my native side after spending my childhood in the usa. i really, REALLY love the usa but i never learned about native americans, even living in a county called seminole and going to a school called indian trails with a native mascot (i think they recently changed it) hahaha. anyway, there are so many traditions and depth to the native culture. when i first moved back to where i was born, in canada i felt ashamed of my native heritage. so many drunks and addicts all shady, its become habit to avoid shady natives. i understand that these are problems in the community but after so many bad encounters i have started to judge. there's a beautiful, pure side to it. my family that i have met are all sober, and all elder to me. the ones that didn't turn to sobriety ended up dead. so many awful deaths in that family, my biological dad recently passed away too and i mever even met him. lots of trauma and its so normal for plenty of native americans, so i understand the addiction issues but i just dont like heing caught in the middle of it.
I was in Indian Guides as a kid which was a father, son bonding program through YMCA. I know it sounds terrible, and not acceptable now adays, but a very big portion of what we did was learn how Natives lived back then, and learned about the land. It gave me a huge appreciation for my region, the native plants, animals, rocks, terrain, and how they can be used, cared for, and appreciated. We had native speakers come to teach us life skills and how to be good men. I was sad to hear YMCA disbanded the program because I doubt I would have gained this much appreciation for those forefigures and their rich history without it. Censoring everything hurts and hides culture, and culture is important, especially for developing minds.
