A year in my Crescent Shoalie and previous kayaks I have owned

  • I have owned my Crescent Shoalie for over a year now. I decided to just talk about my thoughts on owning it after owning a Bonafide SS127, FeelFree Moken 12, FeelFree Lure 11.5 and a Hoo Doo Element 10. I have never thought there was one kayak to rule them all. My thoughts here are in keeping with that understanding. I hope you enjoy the video, nothing too serious. :)

Solid review man. I 100% agree. Precision boat is the perfect description. Love mine on the New River and the smaller rivers and streams around the piedmont. I'm currently trying to decide on a good solid platform for bigger water and maybe some salt offshore. But yeah, can't go wrong with the shoalie. If you decide to head to the New river in Independence, Va give me a hollar. I only live about an hour from there. I can maybe get some time off and fish with ya.

Great video. Were you ever in the Moken 12.5 in choppy ocean water? If so, how did it handle? Thanks.

I fish mainly flat waters like large lakes and ponds probably 90% of the time. Would you recommend the shoalie for that?

I know they are in a different realm, but do you ever miss your feelfree? I'm looking to upgrade but I am torn on either moken or lure or a bonafide ss107 or ss127

I have a shoalie...love it...the name says it all!!! No false advertising there... Love your content. For the bigger people...I'm 280...using the high seat position puts the seat back 4 inches and raises the nose...that makes it noticeably slower and the nose wanders a lot...toss some gear or rocks in the front hatch to trim that out and you are all set...a trimmable seat would be the only change that I can think of....the way it handles in moving water is fantastic.

Totally agree.... LMBO at adding rocks to trim it out!!!!!!!!!!! I too love it, can't see myself getting rid of it.

Fellow virginian here, where did you buy your shoalie? And did you like that place? Do they offer test paddling before you make a purchase?

Hey WAE, I currently own a Moken 12V2 and a Shoalie. I absolutely feel the moken is a kayak I feel comfortable putting my friends and family on. The Shoalie to me is for more experienced kayakers who understand balance techniques one would find using sit in kayaks or canoes. Great content as always, Happy New Year!

Well said! Very good way of presenting it. The rocker scared me bc I had no experience with it before this boat. I was totally caught off guard by it. LOL

@@WAEofFishing I can relate to that. Thanks for the breakdown video. I think this kind of content can help others before buying. I enjoy your adventures with your son as it relates to mine. Safe paddling!

I got the Crew and fish it solo and I can put a lot of gear in that kayak. We also have the LiteTackle. Both are great kayaks from Crescent.

I think part of the problem is I am bigger than I was when i got it. I have no dislikes on this boat. I will have to adjust my packing and set up to fit it better. and lose a few pounds.
