I also agree time zone doesn't affect our economy hugely. While having urban population affects it greatly, China has more than 60% urban population but in india it's only 30%

Yeah it's tru,i was surprised when i visited new delhi for the first time. till 7 to 7:30 PM it was still daytime, but in NE it's already night-time in 5 to 6:00 PM,and than i remember here timezone is different than East. India is big, we really needed different timezones.

I went to Andaman Islands few days ago. I had the jet lag entire time. Sun used to set at 5 pm in mid April. At 7pm it felt like 9 pm. We need more time zones

For those who didn't understand : Lets take Manipur as example. In Summer, sun starts to rise and birds starts to chirps from 3.30 am while in Rajasthan or Gujarat it is at about 5-6 am. In Winter, sun sets at 4.30 - 5 am. For me it is not only 1 hr but it is 2 hrs.

Well I don't know all the details you said. But we don't have any issues with our current time zone. Whatever time zone we still work 8 to 12 hours. Change in timezones only create confusion and it divides people.
Not only 2 time zone - India needs day light saving. Kolkata me 4:30a baje day light aata hain, and most people sleep till 7:30a. Total waste of 3 productive hours.
Same problem in Pakistan...the time in Punjab and Sindh have a different timezone while KPK and Balochistan is in a different timezone, therefore there is always a fight on eid on which day the moon is spotted...
I have a question standard time of India which India is using now if it wasn't there, then the time gap is about 2 hrs just by adding a time zone sun will rise 1 hr later it will not follow 2hr routine I know it's childish but seriously 😣 looking forward for answer.

Keep the number of working hours the same, but shift the time of shift-start and shift-end. Simple.
